Love this place. My mom first found it when she was in Dallas on business and we usually make it a point to eat at one if it's nearby. I usually hate making decisions, but I love all the options I get at this place. You could order the Clubs sandwich every time you go and get a different iteration every time. (I got the cole slaw on mine this week. NOM.) Much better than just adding hot peppers to "switch it up." Even with the different options I've picked, I've never had a bad sandwich here. One of these days I will try a shake. Like the other reviewers said, you will wait. This is probably because there are so many options and not every sandwich is the same. If you want the same sandwich from Subway or Potbelly or Jimmy John's - go there. I find that if you either go right at noon or at about 12:45 you can avoid the lunch rush. read more

Which Wich, so clever, I like it. I like unique concepts and I like being able to customize my food. It can be confusing for a virgin Which Wicher though! There's a big menu board, there's sharpies, there are bags in numbered bins. Don't fret, look at the menu board, note the number beside your sandwich of choice, grab said number from the bag bin and go to town on customization! Hot, cold, skinny, white, wheat, sauces, cheeses, veggies, extras! Fun! If you're looking for a big, overstuffed sub, then Which Wich is probably not for you. They have regular, human being sized food. I approve; it's a good meat, to veg, to bread ratio and always filling. Their bread is tasty and everything is always fresh. I've tried several sandwiches and so far there isn't one that I wouldn't get again. I also love that it's in Block Thirty Seven shopping and there is an underground red line stop right there! Dude, you can hop the L and stay underground, out of the elements to grab lunch! I usually get a small sandwich and a water and it's like $6. I like me some $6 lunches in the Loop. a small 7" Cuban sandwich is $6.25 and that is why I am giving it 3 stars. It could easily be a 5 star sandwich if A) the price was a bit lower, Subway does have those $3 deals. I know that some will say that I am being cheap, but this is just a sandwich made of bread, veggies, and deli meat. These are not expensive items! And, B) if there was more meat on these. My sandwich was very light on the pork and ham, it does however keep the calorie count down I guess. Again, deli meat is inexpensive, so why be greedy? The taste of the sandwich itself was great, I got a "hotwich" or toasted which I recommend especially for a Cuban sandwich. If you get the inside of the bread scooped out or a skinnywich, it will save you about 100 calories from carbs. My sandwich had 340 calories, 38g carbs, 23g protein, and 11g of fat. read more

love the idea and concept that which wich has to offer (DIY on a brown paper bag) unfortunately, I am rating this place a 2 star. As soon as you walk in, there are brown paper bags that you can choose from to order your meal. I chose the Superfood Wich which is a vegan black bean patty, fresh avocado, jalapeno hummus, roasted red peppers, and quinoa wrapped in a spinach tortilla. After you mark off what you want to order, you can head on over to the counter to pay. The wait was not that long, about 5 minutes. Got back to my office and I was wondering why my wrap looked rectangular shaped. Opened it up, and to my surprised, I had all this empty space. All I tasted was the black bean patty and quinoa. I did not taste any jalapenos hummus or roasted red peppers. it was such a disappointment because I've ordered this before and normally, the wrap would be bigger and there were equal amount of proportions, but eh, disappointed. That meant this one and only "restaurant" was open. And, only ONE person was doing everything. Taking orders, making sandwiches, and trying to keep things running on track. Bring your patience when you go to Which Wich, because you likely will wait in line to give them your order and you will most definitely wait for your "wich" to be made. I have to admit that I do like the concept: completely customizable sandwiches. Everything from the bread, to the condiments, to the extras are all at your discretion. And there's quite a dizzying array from which to choose -- things like crispy onion strings, avocado, pesto, teriyaki sauce, and even Cheez Whiz can be added to your sandwich. Of course they have every imaginable deli meat and cheese as well. It's easy to get carried away making your sandwich, which is available in three sizes, and you can "make it a meal" with chips and a drink for $2.50 extra. You start with a paper bag and check off your fillings and toppings, write your name on it, then hand it to the cashier, pay and wait for them to make your sandwich and call your name. I had fun listening to them butchering names. One thing I noticed that I thought was great was that when one of the sandwich dudes finished making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, he immediately discarded his gloves and put on a fresh pair. Apparently they do that after touching anything with peanuts so as not to potentially contaminate the next sandwich. I know the guy standing next to me (who did in fact have a peanut allergy) certainly appreciated it. Kudos to Which Wich for that attention to detail; those with peanut allergies need not fear or worry about bringing their epi pen. Speaking of which (no pun intended), the people employed here work their asses off, but also seem to be having a good time. They enjoyed playful banter with folks waiting for their sandwiches. That's always nice to see. As for my 'wich, I kept it fairly simple with egg salad. It's nearly impossible to screw up egg salad unless you commit the cardinal sin and drown it in mayo, which they did. I was willing to overlook it though, because the fresh cucumbers, lettuce, tomato, and avocado more than made up for it. I'll likely give WW another go-round, especially since they also sell milkshakes (made with REAL ice cream! God, I hope so.) It's a nice sandwich option in the Loop, and it certainly beats Subway, Quizno's, and the like. read more

It was ok. I had a roast beef sandwich in a lettuce wrap. The roast beef was not slices of beef, it was partially shredded and kind of fatty. The lettuce was a bit reddish brown on the edges. Their house chips were delicious. I suggest you try those. The hubs had a corned beef sandwich. He said it didn't taste like corned beef. I won't lie... I was skeptical at first. "Superior Sandwiches, yeah right" I thought. Boy, but does the name really not do this place justice. It's not only superior, it's probably the best there is. I have been there twice so far and it is my current all time favorite sandwich place. Ever. You get to pick what you want on it and the whole system where you simply select what you want on that brown bag is genius. You save time, you don't feel rushed if you don't know what you want on it (Hey Subway, maybe I don't know right away what I want on my damn sandwich okay) and the variety and amount of choices to put on the wich is awesome! I am soooo excited about this place. It's like Subway exploded into something...well...good! The sandwich combo posibilities are endless and there are so many healthy choices. if your're feeling super ambitious, you can go online and build your sandwich to see the nutritional content. The menu is divided into different sandwich types like Vegetarian, Chicken, Turkey, comfort, etc. and then there are more choices within each category like for the Comfort you have PB&J, egg salad, Spam, etc. You grab a paper sandwich bag from one of the many categories and then go to town picking all the toppings and type of bread you want. I was looking for a limit of toppings but there is none! You can have a blackbean patty on wheat with 20 different items! it's insane! The combo with drinks and chips for two was under $20. Love it! I was blown away by the customer service. Whoever had the idea of putting a selection checklist on the bag was brilliant. The food was not so bad either, although I do have to agree with an earlier reviewer, the service was slow. I had a roast beef sandwich, with light trimmings on toasted wheat bread. Yum. Yes, the food quality is comparable to Potbelly's, although slightly pricier than both Potbellys and Subway. I like the idea and there are enough food options here to give it a try. This could make a good stop to grab a sandwich before lounging out on the grass at Millennium Park. I know I'll be back and would patronize them if another location opened up. Pros: Something for everybody, you check-off what you want, any miscommunication will be potentially be your fault (remember when your grade school teachers told you to mark the Scantrons clearly? Yeah, you have no one to blame but yourself if you made if this far in life and cannot properly mark a circle with a red marker), convenient for students, commuters, and those on jury duty. Cons: Slow service, items can get pricey (although not as bad as Jimmy Johns, where after loading up your sandwich, drink, and chips, you might have well gone to a diner and ordered real food), seats are designed to keep your time there at a minimum. Which Wich is the definition of A-OK. This wasn't the best sandwich I've ever had, but it definitely wasn't the worst (and if it had been, it probably would have been my fault). I love the concept here. Nothing stresses me out more than the whole Subway/Chipotle-esque ordering system, where you have to make game-time decisions as they are already squirting mayo or adding beans. At Which Wich, you can take your time & fill out your bag, and it's kind of a stress-free sandwich ordering experience, IMO. However, I can't say the meat was the greatest (turkey), nor was the lettuce the freshest, nor was the avocado the most plentiful... you get my drift? Definitely not as good of a sandwich choice as Potbelly or Hannah's Bretzel, but if you're near-by it's a decent option for the price. Everyone working there was really nice & patient to my co-workers that were having a hard time making decisions, so that's a bonus. Okay, I have had their pork tenderloin sammich and it was always pretty darn good with coleslaw and a pickle. I will point out that they never understand the idea and do not ever really give you much bbq sauce. It was always a decent 3 1/2 star sammich. Went last night after work and the pork tenderloin is off the menu, but they have exactly that sammich as an option so i gave it a try. I suspect I will not again. It isn't so much bad as disppointing. The pork was think sliced deli pork. This is not BBQ-d Pork! They were stingy with the bbq sauce.... I mean BBQ PORK Sandwich, hello? The pickle is good, teh slaw was nice.... I mean, I just probably will not bother again. Unless I am in a pinch. Avoid the Gyros! It was made of ground beef, spices and sadness. Love the concept and the sandwich was pretty decent too. I hate screaming my order over a sneeze guard and other people during the busy lunch hour. This completely removes this annoyance. When at some places, I don't even know what my options are to get on my sandwich. This removes this annoyance. Plus, I'm pretty sure they have more options than most sandwich joints. With all I selected, I probably didn't even need to order the chips, as the sandwich was filling. Very disappointed. Ordered a Chicken Club. I basically got tomatoes mayo and bread. There were four small cubes of chicken (tasted like they came from a can), one piece of bacon, 4 slices of tomatoes, a sprinkle of lettuce, maybe a teaspoon of smashed avocado on one half of bread and saturated with mayo. My favorite sandwich place right now! So many options to add onto your sandwich at no extra cost. I always get the grinder and always add lots of extras and it always ends up amazing. The menu can be overwhelming at first but once you find something you like its like hitting a pot of gold.If you only get a sandwich it can be pretty cheap but if you get anything above the reg size and make it a combo expect to spend more than $10. I did because I know that every time I have the regular, I want more! No, its not because they are small. It is because they are so good that I want to eat until I feel sick to my stomach. the buffet of sandwiches! imagine a salad bar of sandwich toppings. even for us veggies, there is quite a bit to choose from including onion strings and potato chips :) i love that i don't need to go with my usual cheese and tomato and if i'm lucky, avocado sandwich. the artichoke parmesan is my favorite and i love to throw in hummus and other veggies...and yes, the onion straws. because sandwiches are customized, the wait can be a little stressful especially if you are attempting a quick pick-up lunch and as others have noted, the assembly line doesn't seem like they have any sense of urgency. double-punch wednesdays are worth the wait though! my only complaint (in comparison to other sandwich spots - potbelly's, snarf's, cosi) is that the bread could be a little fresher. read more

(Memorial Day parade had State closed to crossing) We were sucked in by their huge amount of customization and affordable prices. A 7" sandwich+drink+chips for $7.95!! Wow, we'll take it! I like the concept of customizing your sandwich on the brown paper bag. This is a lot easier than yelling over the oven at Potbelly's to tell them which toppings you would like. We liked that the sandwich bread was just the right amount. Subway/Quiznos use way too much bread. If you like sandwiches, you'll like this place. LOVE the whole customized write-your-order-directly-on-your-sandwich-bag thing. they do a great job of giving you a ton of options, but presenting the menu in a way that's not overwhelming. they also don't gouge you for all the extras (there are only a small handfull of extra items that actually incur an additional fee, and they are clearly marked). The assembly line process is quite impressive, and despite my boyfriend's sloppy handwriting, we both got our sandwiches exactly as ordered, and they were delicious. I stopped by this place on Saturday afternoon, but since I had dinner plans, I just grabbed a menu. Monday afternoon, a co-worker wanted to go for a walk at lunch, so since I couldn't wait to try it out, I suggested we go here.. At first, it was a bit overwhelming and I unfortunately overlooked the menu on the wall. I just grabbed a bag and got to work selecting my options. There are SO many options to choose from, from the main ingredients (like ham, turkey, chicken, bean patty) to the toppings.. there are endless combinations and you could never run out of different ways to make your sandwich. I ordered the cordon bleu and didn't want it too messy, so just went with light mayo and mustard with mostly veggies. LOVED it!! The bread makes the sandwich! The house chips are fantastic, if you like kettle chips! I want to try the hand dipped shakes next! Customer service here is great! The cashier was friendly and the line person was very personable. "I'm here all of the time," she says. "What are you in the mood for? Everything is good." She gave us some recommendations and we finally felt educated enough to order. I have a bad habit of thinking, "If I'm eating out, I should just go for it." And if you're going to "go for it" you should probably get the Grinder, with salami, pepperoni and capicola. And you should get it on toasted white bread (not wheat) with provolone. And a few veggies, lettuce and tomato, probably. And then add giardiniera.
