I am giving 4 out of 5 only because they won't give you your pupillary distance measurement unless you purchase glasses from their optical shop. In order to buy glasses online, you need that measurement, so Robbins doesn't give you that measurement when they give you your glasses prescription. This prevents their patients from being able to buy glasses elsewhere. I know online glasses sales are cutting into the profits of private optical practices like this, but most of us can't afford the $$$ prices of glasses from an eye doctor which is why I always order mine online for about 1/5 the cost of getting them at an eye doctor.

I've dealt with an organization who refused to do an eye exam; but instead had no problem using my insurance and charging me for the glasses and contacts in lieu of the eye exam, because my current exam was still valid. They literally refused the eye exam I was there on that day for. So, when I needed to order new contacts they refused because they didn't do the contact fitting. I pointed out that them that you didn't do it in March, but had no issue with taking my money then and give them to me. I have spoken to 5 different representatives (all who gave me contradicting information, two with promises to make an exception only for that to be rescinded), and left two messages with the manager who never returned by call until almost 4 weeks later stating her voice mail was broken (I seriously don't believe it). I just don't care for an establishment who does business this way; and when they make an error refuse to work on a solution.

When I went to pick out my glasses, I was helped fairly quickly by a 'jittery' guy (didn't catch his name, but he couldn't sit still), who was helpful and thourough. He took all the measurements, told me it would be 7-10 days until they were ready, and I paid my co-pay. A week later, I got a call telling me that they were ready. I set aside an hour the next day, and went down to get them fitted. Boy, what a difference a week makes! Wheras the day I went to pick out my lenses I got good, fast service, the day I went to get fitted was a different story. I waited 10 minutes just to get through the receptionist, then waited another 45 minutes to get fitted. The glasses were done correctly, but I actually had to demand the side shields that were the whole reason for buying safety frames in the first place. All in all, I would have to say that I got what I paid for, but considering how little I paid, that's not really much of a compliment. They seem to be able to make lenses correctly now, but customer service is highly variable. I would suggest that you budget at LEAST 90 minutes for each trip there. Selection is merely good, nothing special. If it weren't for the special my company gives, I probably wouldn't bother using them. At least they've improved in the last 3 years. ***Update*** I went back for a second fitting the other day (the ear-holds weren't quite right from the first fitting-that's what happens when you rush it), and got better service then. I was also trying to figure out just how much lenses in my new prescription would be for my everyday glasses, and all I get is a vague answer of "about $90-something". Not quite sure why they can't just come out and give me a bona-fide price. I'll be checking to see if Wal-Mart optical can give me a better deal. At least they will quote me a final price. BTW, I got a call today from them asking if everything was OK with them. So, at least they are trying (at least a bit). I just wish they would get more people to serve customers in the store.

Dr. Lindahl answered all of my questions. He was kind and thorough. I had cataract surgery on February 26, 2026 and March 13, 2025, am seeing like I haven't in years and need no glasses. He is an excellent surgeon! The women who work with him are wonderful! I got to meet Maggie, Beth, Laura, Denise, Angie, Kim, as well as Deb and Monique at the front desk. Thanks to you all for your kindness and care! Most businesses these days are more concerned about the bottom line than the people that come to them for help. Not here! They all genuinely care about improving people's lives through helping them see the best they can. I am humbled by what you did for me and so grateful! I personally felt she was probably racist but felt safer deflecting onto poor people. Then when I walk past all the staff to see the doctor everyone suddenly became silent which felt odd and uncomfortable. The doctor seemed rude and somewhat rushing me almost as if I was just an object and she didn't care but was forcing herself to stay professional it seemed. Then when selecting my glasses another woman working, noticeably louder than her normal conversation voice, announces three times that I have United Healthcare. The second time I acknowledged I was on it and I can pay whatever extra fee that I have to and she still loudly and unnecessarily announced it a 3rd time in an attempt to embarrass or humiliate me or poor shame me I suspect. Other than that they do their job correctly if you can handle the mental abuse. The optometrist also put on a black face mask before my eye exam and wore it throughout the entire exam. Covid is over so I wondered if she did that for all of her patients or just the Black ones.
