Based on that information, I made the appointment, waited nearly three weeks, took time off work, and drove 25 miles one way, only to be informed upon arrival that I first needed an eye exam and that they would then decide whether to schedule a visual field test approximately three weeks later. This important detail was never communicated to me when I called and clearly explained what I needed. I am extremely disappointed with this lack of communication and the inconvenience it caused.

Surprisingly, they had a couple of openings that evening and told us to come right in. They only work with older children at this location ​but were quick to give us their recommendation​ for someone nearby that also takes our insurance and is great with younger kids, and then fit my husband and me in right away. The Optometrist here is probably the nicest Optometrist I've visited​, and in 30 years of wearing glasses and/or contacts, that is saying a lot. Eye exams are pretty routine and a lot of Doctors breeze on through but he was very thorough and kind. The optician asked me what styles I like and made recommendations based on what I asked him and stuck within what my insurance covered when I wanted to ​stay under that limit (I primarily wear contacts, so these glasses are replacing a much older pair with an outdated script that I only wear at home in the evenings) and did not try to upsell me. I managed to find a pair of glasses that were similar to my old pair but that I like better. Finally the woman at the front desk was amazing, not only was she super friendly and kind, but she was kind to my kids and made us feel right at home while waiting. We have definitely found our new Vision Care "home".

I could not use them due to blurry vision. Short story is they tried to resolve this with repeated remaking of the lenses and a new eye check resulting in a different prescription. I still have issues with the new glasses and can not wear them, i will ge going to a different place to see if i can get a pair of glasses that work as well as my old glasses that i am wearing now and happy with. ROC Vision had an easy to use website with online scheduling. I was able to schedule something for the next day. I checked in at my scheduled time and was promptly greeted by the friendly lady working the front desk. No wait, straight to some eye measurements. The whole process was efficient. Dr. Lee was pleasant and had a good bedside manner. He explained everything clearly and performed a thorough retina exam. I would definitely return. The fact that it's in a Costco, also helps. Don't forget to bring a designated driver, if you intend to get your pupils dilated.

The exam was conducted professionally, efficiently, and courteously. Dr. Lee was very good at explaining each step of the way and he demonstrated mastery of the equipment and test procedures. I chose to go with the optional retina imaging and he immediately identified a retinal tear in one of my eyes. He then sent the info over to my retina doctor (I've had a couple of retinal tears in the past) and I was able to have it repaired the next day. I consider the services of Dr. Lee to be outstanding and highly recommend him to anyone looking for an expert eye exam.

Because their work seems essentially like engineering, it's easy to think of optometrists as purely utilitarian: they adjust the dials, ask you to read a line, and tweak until they've narrowed down your very concrete and mathematical prescription. But it SHOULD matter whether your optometrist is friendly, trustworthy, and patient. You're trusting them with a mission-critical part of your body, and dealing with deteriorating vision, dizziness, fatigue, or transitioning to contacts demands a lot of empathy and communicativeness on the part of your doctor. Dr. Kenny at Eye Appeal is a truly excellent optometrist by all those measures. Her office is modern but homey; her office staff--particularly Mark, the optician--are outgoing, knowledgeable, and intuitive; and she is extremely thorough and able to talk in a layperson's language with no hint of condescension or impatience. She actually seems passionate about eye care, and doesn't just go through the motions. On my second visit, I asked to be fitted for contact lenses, and I felt so comfortable and supported during my VERY (abnormally) long session. For more than an hour, through probably a hundred failed attempts at putting my new contacts in, Dr. Kenny remained upbeat and provided consistently reassuring and detailed feedback. It would be easy to feel embarrassed about not being able to do something 36 million Americans do every day, but Dr. Kenny's good attitude saved me from getting overly frustrated. Best of all--though this is likely the practice elsewhere as well--all my return visits for my new contacts, be it just one checkup or three or four go-rounds at trying different brands and prescriptions, are included in the very reasonable consultation fee. The receptionist was friendly & social. The optician, Mark, was excellent when measuring my daughter for her first pair of glasses. My daughter didn't want to leave and asked when we could come back!
