I have to give Wheel & Sprocket the highest rating! I have a Trek e-bike and recently when going downhill the control fell off the handlebars and bounced around in my spokes with the wires attached. Had it caught a spoke, it could've been disastrous for me--going head over and downhill to boot. I took my bike back to Wheel & Sprocket and spoke with Bob. He listened well to my issues with the bike and took care of all of them--he really went the extra mile in so many ways too numerous to mention here. They have retained my loyalty for years to come. I went to Wheels and Sprockets today to have one spoke replaced on a perfectly straight mountain bike wheel. I didn't have a freewheel tool or I would have done it myself. I was shocked when I was quoted 50 dollars for labor. I walked out and went to The Chain reaction where the spoke and labor cost me 17 dollars and they did the work in about ten minutes while I waited. read more

Spectacular service. We were in the market for eBikes and set up an appointment with Ryan at the Appleton location. He was very professional, helpful and friendly. He asked what we were looking for and suggested bikes that we may like vs telling us what we would want. We were able to check out, discuss, and test ride several brands and models. We purchased two bikes and a bike rack. Ryan assembled that and got us on the road with one of our bikes. The other bike had to be ordered. We live 3+ hours from the store. When the second bike came in, Dan called stating he was heading our way and offered to deliver and set up the bike to fit. He, too, was professional, helpful and friendly. Found my dream bike here - staff was great- pleasant and helpful. They adjusted my seat for me before I left. They also let you take bikes for test rides if needed. I also noticed they have an amazing selection of helmets. My husband has a hard time finding helmets large enough for his generously sized head and he found one here. Bought a bike online through Trek website with a delivery via the local store in Appleton, WI. Proactive communication by store is non existence, empty promises and awful customer service. When I stopped by over a week later after the bike arrived at the store the store clerk was just full of excuses. Impossible to get firm commitments. I ordered a bike from wheel and sprocket over the Internet. It had a part that was defective from the factory. They were able to take a similar part of a different bike they had in stock and send it to my bike shop for the repair and they did it within one day of me telling them the problem. Service was top notch. I needed adapting parts for a fender, I didn't even buy from them, and they mailed out the correct parts promptly. They were friendly, helpful and got my bike fixed up. I live hours away, so their going the extra mile with customer service saved me hours of driving. You don't get that kind of service often now days. read more

The person working the cashier was very helpful when I came here looking for a reflective vest to wear while commuting on my bike. I ended up buying two: once smaller, more form-fitting one for the hot weather and one larger one (with more reflective parts) to wear over my winter coat in the winter. I looked at some of the bike shorts, but they were a little out of my price range, as a recent college graduate. That doesn't diminish my opinion of this place in any way, though. I thought it was a little expensive, but you really can't put a price on safety! I left the store with a very favorable impression and would certainly recommend this store to anyone looking for biking gear or components. During the time I had to commute on my bike, I had the phone number of Wheel & Sprocket in my cell phone contacts, just in case I had any issues with my Trek. I found it really comforting that this place was open until 8 PM on weekdays, because the only time I would have had time to get my bike fixed was after 6:30. The owner contacted me asking to fix the bike to try to make up for the poor work previously. I haven't been able to find a good service I trust ever since going here, so my Trek is really in need of servicing this spring. Great service! Told me what they could do for me and did exactly what they said. It was excellent work.

I took my bike for servicing. When I called to see when it was going to be ready, I got scolded for calling and waisting their time. They would call when it was ready, they said...When I didn't receive a call, I went to the store only to find, it had been put in the finished rack, but wasn't even touched. The owner said they had short staff and they were giving him a hard time. No sorry again. Came back a couple more days to a 105$ bill, and again, no apologies. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. My husband and I went into the store today to look for a new bike seat for myself. I have a pretty decent bike already but as a larger bodied rider, I've found it hard to get a seat just right. We brought my bike along thinking maybe having eyes on it would help. We walked in and was greeted pretty shortly by male worker. I shared what my needs were and asked for suggestions. This guy was beyond useless. He gave really generic answers, didn't address my specific concerns as a female rider, he basically said, "eh which ever one will work.. or it won't.. figure it out." I shared my concerns as a larger person rider and got the nastiest look. His tone really got nastier and shorter as this, already short, interaction proceeded. I basically felt like because I wasn't coming in dropping 2k and because I don't *LOOK* like a biker, I wasn't worth their time. We left with a seat but it'll be returned. I felt embarrassed and humiliated. We went to a local competitor and got amazing, kind, inclusive, knowledgeable service. We won't be back and I'll share this experience with as many people as I can. I have an 8 year old son who was terrified of learning to ride a bike. We exhausted all options at home with no success. I reached out to Peter to see if there were any resources and to our suprise, Peter offered to work with him at the shop our of the kindness of his heart! Within 15-30 minutes of working on balance in the back lot, my son was peddling and even rode without assistance! By the next day, my son was so happy and confident that he was riding 100% by himself and has been out riding every day since. He has made this a daily activity and has found a new love. Went in their tonight to purchase a Burley child trailer attachment tonight and had the worst customer service. We later found out that the bad service was from their sales manager no less. Between the staff being unfamiliar with the product and bad service from the manager we will not being going back again. I am sure someone else will be glad for the sale. read more
