Watched the World Cup here and had such a great time! The atmosphere was fun, the wine was great, and the wings were SO good. My server(bartender) Nani was super sweet and took great care of me. She suggested one of their signature chicken sandwiches and it was BOMB - definitely something I wouldn't have thought to order myself, but I'm so glad she recommended it. Great food, great drinks, and even better service. Will definitely be back!

spent the afternoon sitting on the patio for Birdstock with a prime view of the kids stage. service was mediocre...but I'll give her grace because it was so crowded and maybe she was overwhelmed. hubby ordered an ahi sandwich with fries.. I helped myself to the fries and they were good!! the sandwich looks like it's a ham sandwich but it really was ahi. I took a fork and took a few bites of the fish itself (didn't taste the sandwich as a whole) omg the flavor of that fish was amazing! I love that they had a simple menu which makes me feel that the focus on doing a few things well. drinks...meh...tiny plastic cups with overflowing ice and charging $14-$20 for 4 sips of a drink.... that was a major disappointment. I'll assume that this was a unique situation b/c of the street fair. the ahi was really THAT good that I'm not knocking it down to 3 stars..

Booked a party for two & a Goldendoodle for a Saturday night on the front patio. Loved that they gave us a corner table away from the entrance. Mackenzie was our server & was fantastic. The Lemon Pepper Wings were money. So tasty I would come back here just for the wings. My partner got the fried chicken sandwich with fries, and I had the house salad with fried chicken. What can I say, it was a fried chicken night! Was craving fries & didn't realize the size was huge. Looking back we told our server my partner should have gotten a side salad with his sandwich- while we split the fries. Service was good; The inside is pretty dark but was busy with people watching the World Cup. They recently renovated their side patio which can be good for families and larger groups. Grateful for another dog friendly eatery in Bird Rock. Away from the central area & more when you first enter from the Wind N Sea Beach side.

Hawaiian pizza. Big enough to share. Loved the crust.

Came here on a whim when so many places had lines out the door. This place should as well!!! It was SO good!! Totally loved the vibe inside. Just so cutely decorated, and fun. We sat outside on the patio as we had our pup with us. Food was really good and all the people were really friendly and attentive. Definitely a must try!!

Troy, Mckenzie, and Nani have made my experience at this restaurant blessing in disguise my life. That might sound extreme but I work nearby and this place is a godsend for a quick lunch hour and happy hours with clients . I've been in La Jolla nearly 20 years and this place is very easy-going & the staff is very inviting! There's great food - killer cocktails and a great outdoor area and staff ! you really can't go wrong in bird rock at Wheat & water.

Well, here's a pic of our $19 beet salad ordered to go. Needless to say, we didn't split it. It was good, and there was enough dressing for 3 more.

I've been here twice and I haven't been impressed. I've tried a couple of pizzas and some items on the happy hour menu. The pricing for happy hour is great and the beer selection is great, but the food is just okay. The service is fine as well; there was a mistake on one of my bills but it was fixed once we flagged down the waiter. It is a popular spot though and great for a group!

    Most popular dish?

Hi! Our most popular dish is our Crispy Brussels Sprouts & Potatoes shared plate. The roasted garlic chile de arbol vinaigrette makes my mouth water just thinking of it. Most popular pizza would be our O.G. Pie (aka Ted's Pie) San Marzano tomato…

The kicker was how terrible the service was. - our waitress had a lot of attitude in the beginning, rolling her eyes and not being responsive, and rarely checked on us after taking our food orders - entrees came a long time before apps, and dinner was served without silverware - entrees were placed at the corner of the table instead of served to each individual person, and while moving our plates food spilled everywhere and no one cleaned it up - no water refills. When we did ask for water, the waitress brought us the carafe and immediately walked away even though all of our cups were empty/needed filling - our empty plates stayed on our table for an hour and only got cleaned up when we asked - someone said they would be right back to come wipe the dirty table after they took our plates, and never came back - it was a birthday outing and they did comp our dessert, but it didn't come with a candle or anything. They brought 1 spoon and no sharing plates, even though there were 3 of us. When we asked for extra spoons they brought out packaged plastic utensils ??? - a lot of young and rowdy patrons, just to keep in mind the ambiance Genuinely shocking experience. Please do better!

As I understand it, Moray's is the outside/patio dining portion, while Oceana is the indoor fine-dining situation. I believe they pretty much have very similar menus, with Oceana having some additional high-end offerings. Came out to Moray's to visit my cousin who was in town for work. Since my cousin now has her most adorable infant, she wanted to keep it simple and dine at the hotel restaurant, which was fine by me. While I waited for them to come down from their room, I got us a patio table and ordered a delicious $10 draft. Mixed drinks were all hovering around $19 each. The server was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which I greatly appreciated. I went with the reasonably priced Steak Frites, $36, which was to stated to come with Muenster cheese and caramelized onions on top, and served with a side chimichurri. While the steak was wonderfully cooked to a solid med. rare as requested, it seemingly had very little flavor. Perhaps had it not been covered with a wealth of some DEEPLY caramelized onions and an abundance of Muenster cheese, I might have been able to taste the seasonings and/or the beef. While I love some deeply caramelized onions on a salt-laden burger, the extent to which these were caramelized left them seeming soggy and too sweet for the steak pairing. Add in the several slices of melted Muenster cheese on top, and flavourwise I could hardly tell I was eating a steak. Ultimately, the abundance of toppings overwhelmed the steak. The accompanying chimichurri was also a little strange. While I appreciate that it was diced and not blended, it was very heavy on the oil, while very light on the herbs. The frites were nicely salted and good on their own, however a decent amount became soggy from being under the steak. The burger on the other hand looked excellent. My cousin devoured his in what seemed like a split second. I could have went for the burger, however at $27 I perceived the $36 steak frites to be of a better value. Again, shout out to our server. They were on-point! Thanks Moray's!
