My professional background is hotel management/event planning/catering so I can be a very exacting client. I had decided I wanted to serve heavy hors d'oeuvres so my guests would get enough to eat (because we were going to be drinking & dancing into the evening), but I didn't want a buffet dinner menu. I wanted innovated, new takes on food. Natural, not processed. A foodie experience. I was not disappointed. Skot & his staff DELIVERED AMAZINGLY! When I met with Skot, he listened to my ideas (what a concept), looked at the recipes I wanted to incorporate in my menu, made suggestions and recommendations then explained how it would all work. He offered his opinions and thoughts, which I wanted. (I had met with one caterer who just keep shaking his head 'no', arguing & explaining why I needed to do it HIS way, after all HE was the one with experience. Yes, that went over big.) After hiring Skot, I no longer had to concern myself with my menu or staffing, equipment rental, linens, dishes, glasses, etc. Skot ordered and managed it all after getting my approval of what was going to be used. All deliveries & pickups happened as scheduled. His staff arrived, dressed appropriately, on time with pleasant attitudes and knew what they needed to do. I didn't have to get involved. It was amazing. Skot was there to answer any questions I might have or new information I might need to convey. During the cocktail hour Skot's staff passed a selection of hors d'oeuvres, I'm still hearing about the amazing tomato soup shot glass with grilled cheese sandwich square, which was one of Skot's suggestions. He was so right. It was delicious. After about an hour Skot's staff announced food was available in the dining room. I had ordered flowers and candles, but Napkins was responsible for laying the table & it was beautiful. Small chafing dishes and trays arranged around the table. Skot's staff replenished the food though-out service and continually policed all areas where guests roamed for discarded dishes and glasses. At the end of the evening they packed up all the rented glasses, dishes, linens, flatware, cleaned the items of mine they used, stored any food, emptied garbage & left my home in order. Perfect. My party was at the end of April and I am still getting compliments about it, the food, the staff and how courteous & accommodating they all were, how beautifully the food was presented, but most importantly how delicious & innovated the food was. I will definitely use Napkins again and highly recommend them for any type event you may be planning. They are so professional, which allowed me to enjoy my party and not worry about anything. On top of this, Laurel's team managed to anticipate our needs and simply delight us with thoughtful daily surprises: my favorite pistachios, water and chocolate at bedside, our favorite meals and snacks readily available and thoughtful notes left daily on chalkboards. Anything we wished it seemed was at Laurel's Team's command! However, three instances in particular stand out: A few hours before our wedding ceremony, Laurel, seeking me out for the videographer, found me clearly overwhelmed. Without me even needing to ask, she said not to worry - she will take care of any requests coming my way; that my only job was to focus on remembering the importance of this special day. This kindness will always stay with me. Later that night, I found Laurel had cleaned up our messy suite and decorated it with flower petals, balloons and battery-operated candles! The next day, we were treated to extra special meals and my new husband's favorites for his birthday: Hopple Popple with Laurel's Catering's Secret Sauce, home-made pizzas, with even a special salmon one for me, and of course my husband's favorite chocolate cake, decorated for his birthday! Laurel's Team wowed us all with delicious, thoughtful and beautifully presented meals all weekend - even making our favorite family recipes with us! We already miss this royal treatment! In the short time I've known Laurel, she has become not only the best caterer and planner I could imagine, but one of my favorite people and someone I feel lucky to call a friend. I could go on! We then moved inside to the dining room for the remainder of dinner. The table had been set beautifully, and each course was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed hearing Samantha present each one - you can tell she is passionate about each dish. They were perfectly plated, impeccably timed, and SO yummy! Our group was definitely having a great time (how can you NOT when good food and wine is involved?!), and Samantha and her assistant were so easy to get along with. They felt like friends by the end of the night. While it was a very luxurious dinner, it was also SO relaxing to be comfortable in our own space.
