The la dolce vida cold brew was hands down the BEST I have ever had! I didn't add any cream or syrups but a splash of half and half would be all you need.The coffee is bright and nutty and sweet with out any sweetener at all.I will be going back to get the beans or whatever it take to get more. Now let's talk about the value. We got two drinks a cold brew and a latte for under $10 with tip. That's unheard of these days! There are other small drive through locations but this is their roast house I guess. You can buy bulk beans and merch. They also have the largest pin ball selection in SA. read more

They're a roaster and also sell to the public. They had a large variety of beans available and a nice coffee/match menu of drinks. The barista was nice and was handling a huge crowd even though it was late in the day. In the back they have a section of pinball and arcade games. Decided to try this coffee shop since we were in the Bitters area and it was close by...thank you Yelp for helping us find this place. :) First off, I did not expect to find this place nestled in such a commercial/industrial park kind of area. It is really off the main roads, so I was surprised at how busy it was. It must have a pretty loyal client following because the shop did not stand out at all from the street view during the day. Second, when my friend and I walked in we were hit with the most wonderful smell of roasted beans and brewing coffee. There was a decent line waiting to place an order and the tables in the front area we all but taken, so a good sign that the place has a following. Third, when it was our turn to order the girl at the counter was nice about explaining what the drinks were (type of coffee used and what is usually mixed into it), but she was a little hard to hear cause she spoke very softly and the inside is loud with brewing and orders being ready. Maybe make a note that if you see older folks come in...speak a little louder so we dont have to lean in and ask "What?" several times. Finally, while waiting for our order, my friend and I walked around the shop, and it is definitely bigger than it looks from the outside. There are so many pinball machines, and huge coffee roasting machines on display. It was pretty cool to stroll through the place. My warm matcha with lavender syrup was yummy, and my friend enjoyed her latte, so all in all I recommend this place if you wanna try a fun little coffee shop and play some pinball. Great roaster in the San Antonio area. Building is a very cool location with decent seating area and a handful of arcade games. They have a big display area showcasing their different bean varieties which can be purchased by the bag or used a pour over there. Coffee was tasty and the barista had great recommendations. They can't make matcha drinks in the slightest, but their other drinks are better. Former coffee shop and specialty tea shop barista here. My fiancé really wanted to give What's Brewing's specialty Spring Menu matcha drink a try despite our abysmal experience last time with their standard Matcha Lattes so we returned to try said drink, the Iced Shamrock, at his request. This drink was better than the last lattes we tried, only because it was actually drinkable. We don't even want to call this a matcha drink because it tasted solely of lavender. All of the flavor was at the bottom of the drink, and even having mixed it better ourselves any flavor that remained was super faint about two thirds through. It was so oversaturated with lavender that the only reason we were able to identify that there was any matcha in this drink whatsoever was its green color. My fiancé gave it two stars. As I was not so confident in their matcha drinks after our last visit, I ordered the Hot Chocolate with Almond Milk figuring it would be a safer option and it did in fact prove to be the better of the two. It came out warm, not hot, so I drank it a little faster than I'd like to have so it wouldn't get cold on me. It was mixed far better than the Iced Shamrock Latte and was really creamy and smooth. As it was made with a darker chocolate it had a pleasant bitterness to it, and the chocolate's sweetness complemented by the natural sweetness of the almond milk gave it a silky richness that paired well with the bitterness for a balance drink. It gets four stars from me. Though I'm a little glad we returned to give other drinks a try I'm still very disappointed by the consistent total failure in the matcha department, especially when I myself use the same brand at home. Their Hot Chocolate was really good and their homemade PopTarts looked really yummy too, so another visit still could be in our future. read more

**Before I start, I just want to make very clear that this review is not about their brick and mortar, but their weekend pop-up at The Pearl. ** With that being said, I've been a fan of What's Brewing for now some time. Every time I go to The Pearl's farmers market I make it a point to visit the What's Brewing team. They are always located across the green area, underneath the iconic "The Pearl" red sign. During cold days my go-to is their brewed coffee, which is only $2 (you can't beat that price), and during warmer days their chocolate mint cold brew is absolutely delicious! Even though I am a no sure and no milk kinda gal, I appreciate them having a self serving station where you can add your own sugar and milk to your drink. If you can't make it to their brick and mortar, definitely give them a try during their pop-up at the farmers market! read more
