I had the coco cajeta latte made with house made syrup, and it was delicious! I really appreciated how tasty and refreshing the drink was. It's definitely on the sweeter side so consider it a treat versus your average latte. I popped in to the cafe shortly before closing so I wasn't able to experience hanging out like I normally do. While in the area I wanted to find a place to sit down, chill, and get some writing done. I found Eightball Coffee pop up on my Yelp app as a spot that offered just that. Upon walking in the vibes here were just sweet. I noticed some of the vintage Spurs throwback analog clock and some really cool artwork on the walls as well. I knew I walked into the right place for my writing time. I was welcomed as soon as I walked in and up to the counter. The menu is listed on the wall on the right, behind the bar, and there is seasonal one in addition to their regular menu on the counter. Since it was my first time I relied on the barista to make a recommendation based off of what they have that is popular and what they would recommend for a first timer. Coco Cajeta espresso on ice was the recommendation I took and the drink I had, and honestly I couldn't have been more pleased. Their syrups are all made in house and they have at least 5 of them that I can recall that includes lavender and your heavy hitters like caramel and vanilla. But that coco cajeta is where it is at. I found a seat at one of the booths and noticed the other coffee drinkers around me were in deep conversations and catching up with their friends. I saw some folks reading here too and just chilling. Parking wasn't a big deal for me as they have a small lot off to the side of the space. I saw plenty of street (free) parking as well so you should come thru. I even saw a food truck outside as well. I want to say they sell bagels but I came through in the early afternoon and they were already closed. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday morning. I brought my dog, Bucky, with me because I incorrectly assumed Eightball was a coffee truck or trailer, and not a brick and mortar. Whoopsie. Regardless, staff said it was fine for me to bring him inside as long as he didn't make a mess. Fortunately, Bucky is house trained. It was a nice opportunity to socialize him more, though. So while I thought Eightball was a truck, there was an airstream parked outside which sold bagels. There are neat picnic tables between the building and airstream, and the inside is small but accommodating. I ordered the cortado and a coco cajeta latte. Staff was very nice, one of them even gave Bucky some attention and pets, which he loved. The cortado is priced lower than most, and even though it was served to-go I didn't get any of that paper cup flavor. It had an interesting pecan/pecan pie adjacent flavor. Maybe I'm finally starting to get the hang of tasting notes. Or maybe not. I give it a B rating. I mistook the Coco part of Coco Cajeta - I thought it was Coco as in Cocoa, but it was Coco as in Coconut. The surprise was pleasant, though as it tasted very much like a mounds or almond joy. Lots of coffee drinks with coconut toe the line between Samoa and Sunblock and this one was firmly Samoa. It gets an A+ from me. Their music taste is within my wheelhouse of preferences, too. Visited on a Saturday morning and they were quite busy, but I was able to order right away. I got the iced coco cajeta latte and it was great. The girl that took my order was very nice, and they had it ready right away. It was a quick in and out trip, but it looked really cozy inside. All of the tables were taken. Good coffee and friendly service. The coco cajeta latte is sweet and delicious. I love the touch of nutty coconut. The coffee drink was well made and gave me a much needed caffeine jolt for the morning. That said, I needed a second jolt so I went for the mocha. Also made well and very nice and tasty. Chill, skater vibes is definitely not what I would describe this place as. It's definitely more like your at an uncles house who may or may not have a criminal record. The vibes are definitely edgy to say the least and I felt misleaded walking up to cute cows to be met with profanities blasting inside and drawing of naked women. Definitely not the vibe I wanted but I could see the appeal to some definitely. The coffee wasn't anything spectacular as it was a very basic menu and kind of boring. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Over all I will commend how quick the service was, very speedy, but not really kind. The staff was a bit short but that did match the energy of the shop. Overall probably would not return but I could recommend to a certain type of crowd for sure. read more

I'm so glad I stopped in, and upset I haven't been here sooner. Love the style of the cafe, and seeing a DJ screw book on the table put a smile on my face. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and a splash of brown sugar flavor, super refreshing. I also got the strawberry matcha loaf (not pictured) . I'm always skeptical of ordering matcha baked goods because they tend to be bitter, BUT NOT THIS LOAF! It was moist, not super sweet and the strawberry icing paired well with it. Stopped by this cozy coffee shop last week with a friend, and it was such a great vibe from start to finish. Spiffy coffee spot with a great touch on presentation, service, and quality. I loved my lavender iced latte with oat. It was rich in brew, pleasantly sweet and still plenty strong. Their open space and large windows allows for nice sunny lighting. Theres indoor tables, and leisure seating if you need a space to unwind or lock in. Before leaving I grabbed some of their popular feature juice options made by Glower's. They have a great ingredient mix with a sweet side and made for what felt like a an energy boost. Serotonin off the charts drinking those babies. I'd certainly return for more coffee and juice next time I'm in SA. read more

Stopped in for a quick coffee the other day. They rang me up and I asked for half-and-half. They were out, all good, things run out. They offered a couple alternatives, so I went with oat milk. What caught me off guard was they canceled the order, re-rang it, and charged an extra $1 for the oat milk. Just felt a little backwards. If the original option isn't available, charging extra for the substitute doesn't make a lot of sense. Not the end of the world, but definitely left me scratching my head over a dollar. Eightball Coffee gets a solid 5-star from me because the barista who made my cappuccino today did an uncommonly fine job. It was perfectly finessed with the right soft sweetness in the milk and only a faint hint of the characteristic bitterness of coffee. He has a rare skill for a San Antonio barista - I felt like I was back in Italy where this level of quality is much more common. Here, many places come close making a still-enjoyable cup, but their brew most often needs some sweetener to cover the bitter edge. Their coffee is divine and they have signature flavors for lattes: Coco Cajeta and Lavender are my favorites. The Coco Cajeta tastes just like a Samoa Girl's Scout Cookie! They have whole, hemp and oat milk. Matcha is also on the menu. You must check them out. The ambiance is chill. Perfect place to hang out and catch up with a friend or do some work. They have WiFi and a good amount of seating. They also got a bomb playlist playing in the background: think Thee Sacred Souls and Mac DeMarco. Parking: they have a mini parking lot and it's a little tricky because you have to come up Florida street which is a one way. With its cool aesthetic and fast service, Eightball Coffee is a great spot to study or hang out over a coffee or matcha. I tried the matcha with lavender syrup, and although the matcha flavor wasn't very strong, I appreciated being able to taste the lavender. I've also seen a lot of recommendations for the coco cajeta syrup, so I'll be trying that next time! read more
