"TACO TUESDAY at a BURGER JOINT" When you think of Taco…read moreTuesday, you think of having a Taco at a Mexican Restaurant, and that's a good thing because Tacos at any Mexican Restaurant are always a good sign. Well, people, one does not have to go to a Mexican Restaurant to enjoy a Taco on Taco Tuesday. There is another place that offers Tacos, but not your ordinary Taco. It's their "Steak Tacos" that are for a limited time only. It's "Freddy's Steakburgers" (& Frozen Custard). I have been to Freddy's and enjoyed their Double Steakburger with Cheese, but my Lovely Wife has not. Taco Tuesday is the perfect day for that. Here is how it went when we arrived. Freddy's came to mind when I saw a Foodie Friend, Mike Bendiksen's video of his review of Freddy's Steakburger Tacos. Nicely done, Mike. Pulled in just past 5 pm, and lots of cars/trucks are here. Walked in, and no one was at the counter ordering, just us. Checked out the Menu board overhead and didn't see the Tacos. Noticed a sign on the counter promoting them, and they look pretty good. Nancy is ordering first, and she is going with their "Senior Cheeseburger" Combo. Single SmashSteakburger with Cheese, Mustard, Onion & Pickle. Comes with French Fries, which are Skinny Fries (and I love them), and a Small Drink. I enquired about the size of their Tacos. Aleanna, who is taking our order, stated they are about the size of his hand. Their Tacos are a Smashburger Taco made with a Steakburger Patty, with American Cheese on a Grilled Tortilla with Lettuce & Jalapeno Fry Sauce. I asked for a Double-Smashburger Taco, two of them. Aleanna said he didn't think they came that way, but will check. His boss came over and said that they only come one way, as a Single Smashburger. I then asked for Two Steakburger Tacos, both with extra Pepper Jack Cheese and Cheddar Cheese. He seemed confused about the extra Cheese, and replied back, with extra Pepper Jack Cheese. I then stated No, with extra Pepper Jack Cheese 'and' Cheddar Cheese. (let me explain, before we left the house, I checked on-line at this location, and there is an extra charge for the combo of Pepper Jack Cheese and Cheddar Cheese, and there are many add-ons to these Tacos for an extra charge). He wanted to know if this replaces the American Cheese, and I said, No, it's added-on. I then ordered a medium drink. Orders are in and paid for. We filled our drinks, a Diet Coke for my Wife and a Diet Dr Pepper for me. Located a table away from the crying baby (don't you just love it when this happens). Soon they called out our number and my Wife picked up the tray. Both of my Steakburger Tacos are filled to the top with lots of Lettuce, and the Tortilla is nicely grilled. Took my first bite, and this is a pretty good Taco. The second bite was better because their Jalapeno Fry Sauce was there, and it has a nice Spice kick. The Smashburger itself is seasoned very well, but it is very thin - and I mean "thin". It would seem that 10 of these patties would equal a quarter pound. Lots of Jalapeno Fry Sauce is hidden inside the lettuce, making this Thin Smashburger Taco heavy, and adding a lot of flavor - nicely done. I also did not receive any Cheddar Cheese on either Taco, just the Pepper Jack. They apparently did not know how to do that. Overall, this Single Smashburger-Steakburger Taco is good, but with the patty being so thin, they should call this one a "Newspaper Smashburger Taco". My Wife enjoyed her Senior Cheeseburger, and also stated that the Patty is thin, and okay in taste. Their 'Skinny Fries' are delicious, with a nice crunch. She picked up one of their dipping sauces for the fries, and it's one of the best dipping sauces you will find. Nice flavor that goes very well with these fries. I also added some to one of my Tacos, and it is gooooooood. Some time back, as stated earlier in this review, I ate here before, and their Double Steakburger patties were thicker then than they are now. Don't know if this is true with all of Freddy's locations, but it is at this one. This location also needs to retrain their employees, including the Shift Supervisors, or whatever they are called, as to what they sell here and how they are made. Both of our order-taking guys had to go check to see if they do this for what I ordered. Maybe this is why when we drive by Freddy's, there are hardly any cars/trucks here. Anyway, when you are out-and-about sometime, check out a Freddy's and get yourself a couple of those Tacos while they last. And if they can, double-up on the Smashburger-Steakburger meat. Hopefully, they will know how to prepare yours.

So, on "Taco Tuesday" we went to Pizza Hut. I know that doesn't make any sense, but here is that story. Earlier that day my Wife was feeling really tired and I said to her that; "It's Taco Tuesday, why don't we go out for Tacos tonight for Dinner." She then brought up the 'Pizza Hut' commercial and said; "Why not go to Pizza Hut and try their 'Big New Yorker', it looks really good." I agreed with her that we will give them a try. So, when it was dinner time we headed out to Pizza Hut. Now, I previously checked reviews on the three Pizza Huts in San Angelo (yep, we have three of them) - and the one with the 'best reviews' is located on Knickerbocker Rd - with 3-Stars. One other one has just over 2 stars and the other just under 2 stars - not great reviews at all - but it is Fast Food stuff. Anyway, we arrived and not many cars here. In fact, after we went inside there were no customers here - just us. This Pizza Hut is an old one but it is really clean inside and kept Very Neat & Tidy. Big Plus there. Christopher greeted us and we spoke to him about their 'Big New Yorker' and placed our order along with a Diet Dr Pepper for me and water for Nancy. He said they would bring it out to us when it was ready in 15 minutes. We grabbed a table and in 15 minutes one of the crew brought out our 'Big New Yorker' and this thing is 'BIG' - and pipping HOT from the oven. There is also a lot of Pepperoni on there and cut into 6-Large-Slices just like the commercial says. There is also a lot of Grease on this Pizza - pooling up all over and also soaking the box it was served in. While at the house I checked reviews on this 'Big Pizza' and they say since it is a New Yorker, you eat it like a New Yorker would by folding one of the Big Slices and eat it that way. A long review I read (no, I didn't write that one) stated that since it has a lot of thin sliced Pepperoni on there, expect some grease. I expected some Grease but didn't expect this much Grease - and it's a lot. The review also stated that they use a thin, semi-sweet sauce that's pretty good. Upon looking a this one, I don't see much sauce and you cannot taste much sauce - but there is a lot of Pepperoni on here and you can also ask for more, with an up-charge. Glad we didn't do that because it would mean more Grease. Not a lot of Cheese either. In the commercial the Cheese stretches a lot - and this does not happen with this one. The Crust does taste pretty good and it does have some decent flavor, tasty Pepperoni - and a lot of Grease. My Wife said she enjoyed her slice and thought the flavor was really good - and didn't mind the Grease. My first slice was folded over but my second slice was not - and there is a difference - the taste is still pretty good and I preferred the 'not folded over' bit - but it's still Greasy. I could only eat two slices, not because they are Huge (and they are) but because I cannot take the Grease - way to much for me. We took the rest of it home and I know when I have another slice, I'm gonna soak up that grease - and then add the Fried Eggs on top. Maybe - Anyway - the Staff here is pretty Awesome and Christopher and the lady who served our Big New Yorker, and brought us more napkins, both earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above and beyond' the norm. Now, just so you know, the Videos I watched that were reviewing this Big New Yorker, I noticed that they were not 'Greasy' - but some of them did mention the fact that the more Pepperoni you have, the more grease you might get. It also just might depend on how that particular Chain trains their staff on preparing the food you order. It just might be different than the place down the street. Check out Pizza Hut near you and give the 'Big New Yorker' at try - see what you think - it's 16" Extra Large Pizza cut into 6-Large Slices, which is pretty cool because if it was cut into 8 slices it would be more to eat - and six is just about the right size - folded over or not. LUNCH: Well, today I reheated a slice of the Big New Yorker. Didn't do the Fried Eggs on top, just wanted to see how it tasted by itself. After reheating, I sopped up the grease that was on top - it was very little due to it soaking into the Pizza slice, which made the crust Very Soggy and Chewy. Didn't really care for it. Figured I would eat the Pepperoni off of it, which was a better idea, but still not that great. I assure you, the Real New Yorker Pizza would be much better than the one Pizza Hut came up with. I know you know yesterday was Valentine's Day, and it's a good day to take your "Better Half" (and…read moreyou know that's true) out for Dinner at one of her favorite places. "The Grill". That also sounds really good to me. We know The Grill will be busy, especially since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday, so we left earlier than normal. Arrived, and a good number of cars were parked all around. Walked in, and the place is packed, with every bar stool and table taken. The Hostess said it will only be a few minutes for your table. In a couple of minutes, a table was available. After we were seated, more people arrived, but they also only had to wait a couple of minutes. The Grill has two bartenders working along with several servers, and a couple of employees cleaning up the tables when they become available. Our Server is Sophia, and she took our drink order. Two Jack-N-Cokes and waters. While we waited for our drinks, we looked over the menu. We kind of already know what we are going to order, and we did. My Wife is going with one of her usuals, their "Happy Hour Nachos" ($6.50), listed as 'Roasted Pork Nachos' on the main menu. Slow Roasted Pork, Chipotle Sauce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over lots of Fresh Chips with Green sliced Jalapenos on one side, and Red sliced Jalapenos throughout the plate. I am going with the "Baja Fish Tacos", Blackened Baja Fish with Chipotle Sauce, and pickled Slaw. Served with Guacamole, Rice, Black Beans, and double Corn Tortillas for three Tacos. We placed our order with Sophia when she served our drinks. Then we toasted to Valentine's Day, and us. The bartenders here make the Best Jack-N-Cokes around. They are really good, smoooooooth, and go down easy. While we waited for our food, The Grill became busier and busier, with more people waiting. Glad we came a little early. Sophia stopped by, as well as one of the Managers checking on us to see if we needed anything. Service here is always tops. Soon our food arrived, and my Wife's Roasted Pork Nachos were served the same as they always have been, piled up high and covering the entire plate, and I might add, very colorful. I Love the way they prepare the Baja Fish Tacos with a Huge chunk of perfectly grilled fish all by itself next to the Rice & Black Beans, a large scoop of Fresh Guacamole, and several Corn Tortillas for you to make your own, with Pickled Slaw to the side. Both dishes are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness that you will find nowhere else. The Grill does it right. My Wife's Nachos have a lot of melted cheese oozing everywhere with lots of corn chips and several pounds of Roasted Pulled Pork. Well, okay, maybe not 'pounds', but there are a lot of large chunks throughout this dish. She said it is delicious and loving that Pulled Pork. She ate about half of it and will take the rest home for a meal that will be for both of us - you get a lot of food at The Grill. I cut off a long chunk of fish, spread their Chipotle Sauce on a couple of corn tortillas, then the fish, topping it off with rice & black beans, guacamole, and their pickled slaw. This Fish Taco is Deliciousness and more. The perfectly grilled Baja Fish has lots of flavor with just enough spice from the chipotle sauce. I made three of these, each a little different, and they all were very Tastylicious. Each Taco was so filled with goodies I could not fold it over, and I ate them more like a Tostada instead. Either way, they are The Best. I also have some fish left over that I ate with the remaining sides, adding that chipotle sauce to each bite. I ate all of mine, with no leftovers to take home. While we were enjoying our food, Sophia said that she would like to take a picture of us with my camera because we are a cute couple. Hey, I couldn't disagree with that, so she did. Flattery will get you everywhere. Thank You Sophia. Well, guess what? Sophia earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm, and a nice tip. We boxed up my Wife's leftovers and headed home, and The Grill was still busy as ever when we left. This was a Great way to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner.

I got a 30 piece Chick-fil-A nugget which was very good and crispy, I would say the only down side was that there was some very small pieces of chicken in there, which I expected because it is fast food! My wife got the regular Chick-fil-A sandwich which is always a go to, very simple which my wife really likes, and tasty! I would say that the only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is just because they forgot a lot of our sauces, which seems to be a reoccurring trend at Chick-fil-A.
