Has really gone down since it first opened. Service is slower. They used to have 2 drive thru lanes which helped, but they got rid of the 2nd one. Everything is now at one window. Wait time has increased. I was the only customer inside one morning and had to wait a good 5 minutes before they realized I was even there. And it took another 10 to get my food because they had 2 people working the breakfast shift. My biggest question is why they charge for cheese. It costs $0.50 a slice. So a burger combo goes up a dollar if you want cheese on it. Meaning you'll pay $9 for the #2 combo at regular size. read more

Walked in to get a burger today for dinner with my sisters and I was told they were not taking orders inside because they were understaffed. I said no problem, but I'm pulling a boat and cannot make it through the drive thru, may I place my order here? Someone said yes and was about to begin taking our orders when a different employee popped around the corner and said "Sir I've told you we are running short, we are going to have to serve all of the cars in the drive thru before we get to you." Even through I had gotten there and been standing there before any of those cars were in line. She seemed upset, like I was bothering her and she did not want me to be there. Ripped off! Traveling back from Charleston, SC on I-20, we stopped at the Whataburger in Ruston for a quick snack. Two chocolate shakes and a small french fry. $9.15!!! My wife ordered "two small chocolate shakes." The counter person showed us a cup and said, "this ok?" My wife, only half paying attention, said "sure". Ridiculous. I arrived with one person in front of me and one waiting for their order. Ordered two #7's, quite possibly the easiest meal to make. Tick tick tick tick..... 15 minutes goes by, still waiting. The people in front of me finally get their order. Then the people who ordered behind me start to get their orders. The AA "manager" checks on the AA customer who ordered way behind me and promptly gets his order made for him so he can get back to work. 23 minutes after I ordered I get some crappy made burgers and cold fries. I used to eat often at Sonic drive-in, but their prices went up and food quality went down, so now What-a-burger is my favorite. I have to say that by far this place I give 5 stars to. The service staff is the best, friendliest and they always have a smile on their faces. The burgers are just about the best around for fast food even. Better than the upscale places I've been to. I usually order a custom burger and it's always correct, great taste and cost less than most of the McDonalds, Burger King's or Wendy's...I love this place, quick in, quick out and fantastic customer service. read more

I'm sure this is way better if you eat burgers! As for someone who went who doesn't, I think the fish sandwich & grilled cheese were pretty good. The fries were tasty and the staff nice. It's kinda bright in there which is nice I guess since it's actually open 24 hours! Hooray :) read more

Midnight crew stinks. Waited half an hour, food is yet to arrive. Management is notably rude to employees.

The only time I ever go here is at 1 or 2 am, but still the food is hot and fresh usually. The line, even at that time of the night, can get a little long. Or maybe that's because the line is reallllllllly slow, but worth it! A1 burger is to die for. Staff is, most of the time pleasant, depending on who you get. Waited 10 min in drive through with one person in front of me. The time waited wasn't because they were cooking fries, because what I got was the worst food i have ever received at whataburger. This is possibly one of the best fast food places I know of. The prices are great for great food. Depending on when you go it can get hectic and the service can get slow. If you aren't 100% clear, they will mess your order up. They have breakfast from 11 pm to 11 am and let me tell you, they have the best freaking biscuit I have ever had in my life. It tastes just like homemade and you can get an entire meal for around $5. The burgers are great for a fast food place. They staff is normally kind, though sometimes you can get a rude one. They're fries are always hot. They're chicken strips can sometimes come out a little burned, but the gravy is great. The place is normally cleaned and well stocked. They make you pay for sauces, even if they forgot to bring it to you. The decor features normal fast food advertising and a mural of the owner on one of the walls. I'll definitely be returning here next time I'm in town. Not only was the service friendly and the food tasty, but I was especially impressed with the way they handled an entirely separate matter. I was checking my bank statement earlier and noticed that I had accidentally been charged twice for my meal. They realized their error before I did, and they had already issued a refund for the second charge. I've experienced accidental "double charges" before, and I've ALWAYS had to jump through fiery hoops to get the issue resolved. If there was an option to give zero stars I would. I went to go get food at about 8 PM and it took me 25 minutes to get through the drive-in. There was only one car in front of me. Not only did it take forever to get my food but the order was wrong not once not twice but three times. It was a good thing I checked my order every single time otherwise I would've gone home completely disappointed. The employee that took my order took it down correctly after I repeated it six times. By the time I actually got my food it was cold and definitely was not Worth the $11 I had spent on it. This was my first time ever going to a Whataburger and it was the worst hamburger restaurant I have ever been to including worse than McDonald's. Ruston Whataburger you need to do so much better. The girl at the window did not say anything to me throughout the entire debacle of three missed orders. The worst part was the food wasn't even good. read more
