I had a very disappointing experience at this Whataburger while trying to order a simple meal for my two children. I ordered two medium drinks, a three-piece chicken strip meal, and an onion ring for my son. I had to repeat the order four to five times. Instead of clarifying, the evening manager came on the intercom and sarcastically asked if I wanted "eight drinks," which was not what I said. I went inside to calmly request the customer service number. The manager refused to provide it and threatened to call the police on me. When I explained that this was not appropriate treatment for a customer, he escalated further and said he would call Child Protective Services as well, all while speaking loudly in front of other employees. I then attempted to place my order at the front counter, and the manager instructed the employee not to take my order. He proceeded to call the police simply because I was trying to order food for my children. This situation was unnecessary, unprofessional, and deeply upsetting. I was not disruptive or threatening I just wanted to place an order. No customer, especially a parent with children, should be treated this way. The staff here were very friendly and offered to get us what we needed while we were sitting down. Over rated. I was talking with a nurse from Corpus Christi, Texas; home of whataburger. She was talking up whataburger. Said that it is better than In & Out, now I'm from California, to say that is to make a big claim. Not much flavor, even with bacon (how do you mess up bacon?) and two patties. It had mustered on it, not sure what else. The fries are plain, exactly like McDonald's, nothing special. You can mix both (Whataburger and McDonald's) and would not be able to tell the difference. The only positive is that it is filling for the price. This place has nothing on In & Out. Double-double is flavorful, you don't need no bacon to make it better; and the fresh fries cut in the restaurant just before frying. My Husband, myself and granddaughters came inside of the restaurant and placed an order to go. We sit up front and waited on the order to be fulfilled. I noticed that while orders were being prepared, the worker that was taking the order and filling the bags, while waiting on orders to be fulfilled, she took all of the French fries out of the bin and filled the individual fry boxes and lined them on the rack. This process for the fries were not only for our order, but apparently all of the fries. surely as I suspected, the fries were no longer hot and they had also lost their firmness. Alright, I already reviewed this dumpster fire of a franchise that likes to call themselves Whataburger but they have stooped to new lows. The dudes don't have shakes on the app for me to order so I assume as is normally the case the machines broken so I went inside and sure enough it's not broken. So I have to order my fries on the app and my shake in the store. What absurdity. Then I call the store and once again ask if the shake machines broken just so see something and they say no so I ask why it's not on the app just like I did the first time and they said oh the apps ran by another company. Bro what? I looked it up the app was made and maintained by Whataburger not another company so these guys don't know what they're talking about and worse lied about the info because they were unaware. these stars are all earned- and this isn't just because this is a What-a-Burger. These stars are for this spot. They do a great job of getting orders in and finished correctly. My finicky children could never think of ordering an item as it is listed (I still shudder at the meals ruined by the sight of mayonnaise- I'm looking at you Publix in Orlando) and their litany of "with this, but not that" is met with a smile and a perfect product each time. I also manged to leave my debit card here more than once (it is my own issue-I'm not happy about it) and they are always great about saving it until I get back there. Anybody who leaves a bad review ain't from the north, I'm from Michigan and we don't have a fast food restaurant that comes close to whataburger. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for years and finally got the chance coming down to Oklahoma for the nlbfr. I don't get a chance to eat here often as I'm from Washington state. So I was excited for my visit today. After ordering my mushroom swiss and fries I sat down and waited. A lady behind me asked an employee (called him by name) near her for some hot fries. He was quick to go get her some. I wasn't sure if she got cold fries or just wanted fries now. A girl brought the lady's food out to that same employee in the lobby and handed it to him saying "this is for the lady". The lady, upon receiving her food said again to the employee by name "3rd times a charm". While all this was goin down, some dude that looked pretty rough sat down with his kid, who was about 9 and had two black eyes, waiting for their food. He was very assertive with his kid. Making sure the boy pointed the # out so the server could find them. When the server came out and yelled the number, the dad raised his hand and said HERE. Anyways, the kids burger apparently was missing cheese and the dad was quick to say " hey can we get a slice of cheese over here?" Which to my surprise was exactly what played out. This employee actually brought out a piece of cheese lol. I just sat back and watched everything in amusement. My burger wasn't very good. Salty and smashed. Fries were good, pretty much identical to mcyds style... Burger included. I got up to leave and decided to wash my hands of all of this mess.. All of it. In the bathroom (I was alone in there) there was a pair of shoes in the left sink?? Don't know what that was aboot. Paper towels were out. When I was a little boy, Whataburgers could only be found in Texas and southern Oklahoma, and I used to love it when Daddy would stop our '64 Nash Rambler at a Whataburger location. This is comfort food for me -- pure nostalgia. I especially love the fried onions here, and the fries that Whataburgers serve up are second to none among fast food chains. This particular location on north May Avenue is generally quite clean and bright, and it's open twenty-four hours a day. Again, I very, very rarely eat this kind of thing, That said, when I DO, it's almost always at this particular Whataburger location. The salads here are especially good, and the breakfast taquitos are quite filling. The graveyard shift crew here is hard working. (I eat an early morning breakfast here fairly often when I'm busy working on one of my warehouse sales just south on May.) Two of the staff members on this shift, two young African-American ladies whose names I don't recall, are always extremely friendly and accommodating. (I'd be proud to call them my employees if they worked for me.) I'm not crazy about the religious music that's often played here on the speakers. (Religion and politics don't mix well with business. They just DON'T.) But if that's my only complaint (and it is), well, that's not much to fuss over. I don't usually eat fast food, nor do I often leave Yelp reviews for fast food restaurants. This was my first time eating at Whataburger. At first blush I almost didn't eat at this location due to the entrance,lobby and Whole Restaurant being very messy. But I was Amazed at how fast Sabastian The Assistant Manager took control and very Quickly multi tasked and cleaned up quite a mess. All while helping a New prospective employee sign up via his laptop in the Eating area. The buger tasted good. They scimpet on the french fries somewhat though.
