Nearly Eight Months Later, and Still No Response From Ownership!
I am updating my original review because nearly eight months have passed since my disappointing experience at this Golden Chick location on March 2, 2026, and despite submitting a formal complaint and a follow-up message directly to the business, I have never received a response, acknowledgment, or apology from ownership or management.
I have been a loyal customer of this location since it opened around 2018 or 2019. Unfortunately, my experience with the manager on duty, Charles, and an employee named Emma B., left me extremely disappointed.
That evening, I spent over $40 on food for my family and specifically requested fresh fried chicken. I made it clear that I was willing to wait. However, after waiting more than 36 minutes, my order was incorrect, and the customer service I received was unacceptable.
Throughout my wait, Charles walked past me several times without acknowledging me, providing an update, or offering an apology. When I questioned the delay and incorrect order, Emma B. was dismissive and unprofessional. Another employee kindly stepped in to assist, but the replacement chicken I ultimately received appeared old, and I did not feel comfortable eating it.
Unfortunately, this was not my first unpleasant experience with Charles. His attitude and lack of customer service have been ongoing concerns during my visits when he was managing the restaurant.
I want to emphasize that my complaint is NOT about the entire staff. Ms. Jasmine and Ms. Chi Chi have always provided exceptional customer service. They are professional, courteous, and genuinely make customers feel appreciated. In fact, when Ms. Jasmine became the primary manager after Charles previously left, I began visiting this location even more frequently because of the positive atmosphere and excellent service.
What disappoints me most is that I attempted to handle this matter privately before bringing it to Yelp and Google. I submitted a detailed complaint through the business's app and followed up when I received no response. Nearly eight months later, I still have no idea whether my concerns were ever reviewed or addressed.
I have also noticed that the owner appears to respond to positive Yelp and Google reviews. I would hope that concerns from dissatisfied customers, especially longtime customers, would receive that same attention.
I also want to clarify something important. Since nearly eight months have passed, I honestly do not know whether Charles is still employed at this location. I have not returned to purchase chicken or a meal since that incident. The only time I occasionally stop by is to purchase Golden Chick seasoning because this restaurant is approximately two minutes from my home.
Instead, whenever I want Golden Chick, I deliberately drive approximately 15 minutes out of my way to the Fondren and West Airport location rather than purchase food from the restaurant right down the street from my house.
That alone should speak volumes about how much this experience affected me as a loyal customer.
My purpose in updating this review is not to criticize the employees who consistently provide excellent service or make assumptions about the restaurant's current management. I am sharing my experience because I made two separate attempts to resolve my concerns privately, and ownership never responded.
I genuinely enjoyed supporting this location for years, and it is unfortunate that one manager's repeated poor customer service, combined with the lack of follow-up from ownership, has resulted in losing a longtime customer.
I would still appreciate hearing from the owner regarding whether my original complaint was ever reviewed and what, if anything, was done to address my concerns.
Good food brings customers through the door, but excellent customer service keeps them coming back.
Unfortunately, poor customer service and a lack of accountability can drive even your most loyal customers away.
Hopefully, sharing my experience publicly will finally result in the acknowledgment I never received privately.
