My wife and I ordered the burgers. Hers was bun -less because she is gluten-free and they do not offer gluten-free buns like most of the competition do. The bun that I got on mine was actually cold and somewhat chewy like it had some type of substance in it that made it like chewing gum consistency. The meat was I would call average. Definitely not world famous like everyone thinks. Actually the meat had very little flavor at all. The french fries were pretty much like McDonald's...the condiments were OK except for the tomatoes. They were a little bit over ripe. All in all the hype around this place is extremely what it is ...Just hype. Like most new restaurants in Hickory this one will flame out and become pretty normal or close down at some point in the not too distant future ....if you really want a better burger, I would go to Culver's as they have a better atmosphere and quality is definitely higher. And you don't have to deal with a long wait. read more

I'm very glad we got WhatABurger in Hickory and hope they do great, I'm sure McDonald's across the street hates they opened up, but to me there Food Quality is just a little bit better then McDonald's nothing I'd go out of my way to eat at, there are much better Burgers in Hickory read more

They grilled chicken and cheeseburger had so much salt on it that it literally made me nauseous . Whoever is over that grilled chicken that's way to much spice n where was my cheese on my grilled chicken. My bf cheeseburger had the cheese but mine had one sliver of tomato. There was four fries they were dropped way to soon and I know this because I worked in restaurants when I was younger n if the oil is not hot enough the fries soak up the grease. Although I realize this place is super busy please lighten up on the salt n the spices. My bf stated the cheese burger just like the grilled chicken was super greasy , super salted n the few fries given were soggy , soaked with grease. The employees were respectful, hardworking and nice but management needs to work on properly training their employees on fries, less oil and adding less salt b spice. Price was fair but I probably would not recommend this place again. The salt alone would cause a heart attack or stroke. Always remember less is more. Please use your own judgement . For all the hooplas, I was very dissapointed. My burger was very dry and bland. The condiments were all in the middle of the burger. The burger itself was just like a whopper from Burger King. My fries were like fries from Mcdonald. For the price I paid, I was expecting more. Never again. My husband wanted to try the "other" Whataburger. There were 2 drive through lines, we chose the shorter one. We get to the menu board to order. FYI, they are extremely expensive for a fast food restaurant. A Whataburger employee comes running up to our car to tell us we have to backup and get out of this line and go to the other drive through line. Unbelievable. She said people were complaining about the lane we were in because food was coming out quicker. WTH. Advice, want a good What-A-Burger, go to Mooresville, Kannapolis, Mt Pleasant. read more

I don't understand why anyone thinks this is a good burger. The burger itself was not that high quality. Five Guys is a lot higher quality and same price point. The burger was very odd - maybe it is a Texas thing but mustard instead of mayo is an odd pick unless you have slaw on it. I did not like the fries either. I think the bloom will fall off the rose on this one pretty soon. This is not a typical NC/southern burger. read more

My husband and I visited WhatABurger in Hickory today (against our better judgement), because we had tried them shortly after the grand opening and it was terrible then, but we chalked it up to being new. My first stop was to the ladies room to wash my hands...it was filthy due to failed scheduled cleaning. My husband said the same about the men's room. We ordered two burgers with fries and sodas, and the service was excellent, which is why I left one star. The tables had not been wiped clean and the floor was littered with dropped trash and just plain dirty. I wiped our table clean with a wet wipe I had in my purse. Our food came out and the burgers were tasteless and the fries were cold and hard. We ate the meal because it wasn't inexpensive, but we certainly expected fresher and better quality food. We got up to leave and there wasn't a trashcan that wasn't overflowing...cups were actually falling onto the floor! Now the restaurant was not crowded at 4:00pm and four employees were sitting at a table talking...so I'm not sure if a manager was in house or not. It's a new restaurant, so to say it was this terrible is a shame and disappointment. We will not give them a third chance to take our money...there's far too many good restaurants in the area. read more

Total confusion, half cooked meat, center of lettuces on mine, plenty of mustard,10 people waiting on drinks, lay-out stupid, What A Joke. Culver is better! This place replaces PDQ that had a great chicken sandwich, good fries and no waiting on your drink. The Barcelona in Mooresville is way better than this place. read more

A total screw up. Seemed like you need armed security to start your experience in a play with little or no sense of direction or smarts. Parking took 20 minutes then only if handicapped then stand in line for a similar amount of delay then 14 minutes to get an incomplete order prepared incorrectly and missing items. read more

Drivethru line was long so peeped thru the window and dine-in was only half full. Only 2 people was in line so that was the method we chose. Been waiting for the hype to die down so waited a few weeks in. Ordered at Kiosk and got my number. Terminal ran out of paper so didnt get a receipt. After waiting 30 min, I went to ask a worker if my order was being processed. She came back after a few min and asked me "did you really order 10 burgers"? I said yes..... I ordered it and paid for it so that's what I really ordered. She went in the kitchen again and came back out and went to talk to her friend in the lobby. I flagged her down and asked if the kitchen was processing my order. She said "oh yea". But what do I expect from 16-17 yr old workers. Finally about 10 min later (about 45 min in) a manager came out with my box and he was pleasant and said thankyou. I was walking out and a kitchen staff runs after me and said did I order cheese for my burgers? I said yes, so he took my box and went to add cheese to my burgers. So they unwrapped all 10 and added cheese (actually 9 only cuz they forgot to add to 1). Burgers were cold and dry. Onion rings were old and soggy. I know they are new and people think its the new hype.....I think they are very well over staffed but just inefficient. Standing around not knowing to jump in to help anywhere. Wasn't that they were super busy.... they just didn't know how to process the orders. This joint makes Chick-fil-a look like a precision and well-oiled machine. This joint makes Culvers and Five Guys look like fine dining quality. Will I go back.... sorry absolutely not. read more
