Bringing water for our dogs and cups to take our sweet tea with us, our server, Kiersten, was the epitome of friendly southern hospitality. The barbecue was delicious. You could see the smoker on the property. What set this apart was the choice of sides. There were several sides such as green bean casserole and creamed corn that you don't see at other barbecue joints. We will definitely be back on our next trip to NC.

The BBQ and brisket were a letdown -- lacking flavor, not as tender as expected, and just didn't have that true smoked BBQ quality you look for, especially in a place like Hickory where the standard is high. Their best sauce is the Carolina White. Their Carolina Mustard is good, but a wee bit on the sweet side. Today, I tried the Loaded Bbq Baker with pulled pork (see pic). I had read that it was large, but what was served to me was humongous. They literally took the biggest potato and added a 1/2 potato onto the end. It has butter, sour cream, cheese, real crispy bacon bits and green onions, topped with pulled pork and a side of BBQ sauce of your choice. I could barely eat half. It was delicious and everything I wanted and I got to take half home for dinner tonight. My grandson had (not pictured sorry) the mac & cheese bowl topped with pulled pork.
