I think Whataburger is better than your average fast food burger. I found myself near this north Austin location having eaten nothing by 4 pm on a Friday. And knowing there was no chance I was cooking my own dinner (because...laziness), I popped into the drive through line. There was a shockingly long line for the odd hour. But no worries. It moved fast. I got the #4 meal (cheese and jalapeño burger). It was exactly as expected. Hot fries, hot burger, cold drink. As always, a pretty large burger compared to the competition. Honestly, I find their portions almost too big, which is fantastic if you're really hungry. I demolished my meal. Lettuce, please be kind to me! The manager Kip was extremely rude, unprofessional and out of line. I placed an order online and when I came to pick it up they said someone already picked it up. I asked if they would remake it since I already paid and be said no it wasn't his problem since it was already picked up and if I wanted them to remake the food that I would need to reorder and pay for it again. I told him that did not make sense since I already paid for it and they gave my food out to the wrong person. He said he didn't care because it wasn't his responsibility to check the receipts when someone picks up an order as he proceeded to raise his voice at me. It's a Whataburger... nothing too crazy to review here. But living around the corner from this location and visiting nearly everyday, I owed it a few words. This location is right off of W Parmer and is fairly easy in and out. The drive through is a bit congested and blocks the parking spots along the building. Service is usually slow too, so be prepared to wait if you choose the drive through. The food itself isn't bad and my order is usually correct. The staff is friendly too. Why is the old mustache guy ALWAYS in a standoffish mood every single time I go to this location? If I get hungry in the middle of the night, it already sucks that I only have ONE option and that option is a 20 minute to an hour time commitment in the drive through, so when I finally get to the front I really don't need pop-pop's little attitude. A few weeks ago I tried the Sweet & Spicy Bacon Burger (sans bun) for the first time. HOLY WOW! The combination of the sweet & Spicy sauce mixed with the mustard was SO delicious!! I've been a Whataburger customer for more years than I'd like to admit. I've tolerated the slowest drive through lines in the industry because I really enjoyed their burgers. The service (quality) now hovers around a zero for me. What makes handing a complete order of food to your customer so hard? Today I went through the drive through, ordered 3 burgers, fries, onion rings, ect. Picked up at the window, and pulled up (allowing the car behind me to get to the window) before I started doing an audit of my order. Discovering only 2 of the 3 burgers, I jumped out with my bag and went inside. The manager was very quick to ask "what did we miss"...and I told them. He went back to the kitchen and came out with a bag.....with the barest of burgers. Of course I didn't inspect the actual burger????????? to make sure they actually put the right burger in the bag. Disappointing. Yes, I know there are many other things much more devastating than not getting the right burger, so I'm keeping it in perspective. So....when I just can't be satisfied with any other burger......I'm going to have to actually unwrap every burger in my Whataburger order to make sure they actually included what they had agreed to.
