Outside of their dinner service, we have now become regular visitors on Tuesday nights for their wine tasting, each week João and his team curate tasting based on a theme or region and we get to come in and learn while also trying some amazing wine without having to venture outside of Chicago. We've tried Orange wines, something I knew nothing about and we also visited areas where we thought we were familiar with like Napa or France but the team continuous exposes up hidden gems we may have never known about even in those areas Tuesdays at Verve have quickly become our favorite night of the week, and we currently plan to keep coming back for as long as we can.

The menu had a few more items than expected so we each got the Ilixr burger and split some Gruyère fries. The burger was decent, but a little pricey for a pretty basic à la carte burger. I also wasn't a huge fan of the sauce and probably should've asked for no pickles. The Gruyère fries were also nothing special. Luckily we got the giardiniera on the side because it was pretty spicy. There were 4-5 wines to choose from and we both really liked the ones we picked! Would go back next time for just the wine and maybe to buy something or go to an event to learn more about wine.

This was a spontaneous stop. I was trying to go into the souvenir shop next door but when I…read moreapproached it, a sign said to enter through Uncork It. So obviously I did. Of course I got distracted and browsed the store. There was souvenirs in this store as well, which I was not expecting. I wound up picking up winter gloves because I forgot mine at home. I then discovered a clearance cart that had a variety of boozes in there. I was super excited to find Malort! I found a unique cocktail recipe years ago that had Malort in it but was never able to find it in FL. Little did I know, it is very well known in Chicago! Obviously I purchased a little 6 pack. I browsed the aisles somewhat but did not find anything that caught my eye. I also did not want to purchase a bunch of bottles to walk with a couple of blocks. As I was waiting for the person in front of me to finish, the employee asked the customer to please step ahead so I could put my items down. He was already done and taking his time doing something else so I felt that was thoughtful of him to do for me. They were very polite and quick. The process seemed reasonable for the most part but the souvenirs were overpriced. The store was clean and tidy as well.

Walked in, and walked right out. Asked the lady, where can i find her whisky aisle and she…read moreimmediately gave me attitude, responded rudely stating theres so many (I think I know that, I wanted to see the options) I looked over and saw the whiskey sign down an aisle and said nevermind we found it thank u. I thought it was just me reading her wrong when my husband said why should we buy something here when they're so rude. I agreed and walked right out.

Went to Get in the Kitchen for a bridal shower and had the best time. Jason, the owner, was there…read morethe whole time to provide instruction and assistance as we made bagels with schmears and chicken salad. The space is huge with plenty of room to mix and mingle while preparing food. What I really have to comment on is the quality of the equipment - I've done cooking classes before and the equipment was old and looked like it had seen a few things. At Get in the Kitchen everything seemed to be in great shape which made everything easier. Although it's a drive for me, I definitely want to come back for a drag event and hopefully some other cooking classes. Oh! The gift shop - they have a bunch of super cute stuff so even if you can't do a class it's perfect for hostess gifts or other fun kitchen items. Worth a stop just for that.

An unforgettable cooking class--pure joy from start to finish!…read more I cannot rave enough about this cooking class. Four friends and I signed up on a whim, and it turned into one of the most memorable evenings we've had together in ages. The highlight was learning how to make fresh fettuccine from scratch--yes, from scratch--and somehow the instructor Jason made the whole process feel both totally doable and ridiculously fun. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and buzzing with good energy. Jason was patient, hilarious, and incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through every step without ever making it feel intimidating. Before long, we were kneading dough, rolling it out like pros, and cheering each other on as our pasta strands got longer and more impressive. And the best part? Sitting down together at the end to enjoy the meal we created. The pasta was unbelievably fresh--silky, tender, and honestly better than many restaurant dishes I've had. Unfortunately, we ate so fast. We forgot to take a picture! Sharing that meal with friends made it even more special. After we ate, we were entertained by the fabulous Yuiza Beach! A local entertainer from Rogers Park. She was funny and charismatic, and kept us in stitches the whole time! Her performance was as fabulous as she was If you're looking for a unique, hands-on experience that blends learning, laughter, and seriously delicious food, this class is a must. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly, highly recommended!

I recently attended the "Hands-On Essential Building Blocks" class at The Chopping Block! The 9…read morehours of cooking certainly paid off with some delicious meals! Although I did think the chef in charge was very knowledgeable, and the meals did turn out fabulous, I was a little disappointed with the class structure for a few reasons. 1. For the price of this class, I assumed that we would all be individually learning to cook each component - that was not the case as we were put together into teams of four where we divided responsibilities. So not all building block skills were able to be practiced by all team members. I had chosen this class because I wanted to learn these building block skill hands-on. However, if you're looking to meet new friends this may just be the spot for you! 2. Like I mentioned, the meal we made was super delicious. But in my opinion, it's creativeness / the fact that it wasn't more simple skipped over some of the true basic skills needed in everyday kitchen use. For example, I wish we had learned more about pan use / heating up / etc. And because we had so many components to the meals, some of the lessons felt kind of rushed where we weren't necessarily able to dive deeper into those questions since there were so many people per amount of chef / helpers I do think that this is a great org, but perhaps I would have felt more bang for buck in a more specified topic / shorter class
