I have been attending classes with Candace for a couple years. It is obvious she is a retired a teacher because she does such a great job of explaining and correcting. There is lots of practice and repetition so that eventually muscle memory kicks in. The people who come to the school are super nice and we have a great rapport. My wife and I were seeking someone to help us choreograph a first dance for our wedding and came across Candace dance. We only had a few weeks before our wedding and Candy ensured us we could accomplish a dance before our big day. We wanted to start things out with a slow romantic tune then lively up the dance floor with something more upbeat. Candy perfectly choreographed and helped us to learn our slow dance and then a Kizomba for our faster song. We accomplished this all in four one-hour lessons. Candy was very creative in her dances and made learning them smooth, fun and exciting. We chose her 6 lesson package then returned after the wedding to take a couple of Cumbia lessons. Perfect - Perfect - Perfect! On a whim (& very, very late in my wedding planning) I looked up Polka Dance Classes in Chicago and Candace's listing came up first! I am so happy it did! Before the big event we had time to sneak in 2 group classes (nice small group) and one private (wow, intense!). Worked like a charm - we danced the Polka as our 1st...2nd...3rd - heck, all the dances at the wedding and had everybody join us out on the dance floor. I go to her group lessons in casino rueda, and I absolutely love it! She always works hard to make sure that we learn as much as we can in our hour a week. Her prices are very reasonable and I feel like I'm getting more than my money's worth. She also works to accomodate with the schedules of everyone in the group so that as many people can participate as possible. She also knows so many other dances and is willing to learn more in order to teach it. read more

Candace was heaven sent. We needed to learn to dance in about 4 weeks for our wedding day, and decided to take a few classes. We sent Candace our choice of song (a bit unconventional), and she went ahead and choreographed a sweet, beautiful little piece for us that even I was able to learn in such a short time frame. She was so patient, kind, listened to us, and was so encouraging. She's also such an amazing person. We ended up having a beautiful first dance - I can't wait to get the video! My husband and I have been taking classes with Candy since 2012 (when we were still dating)! We have taken mostly Salsa (Rueda de Casino) and Bachata. Candy is an amazing dance teacher! She is patient and encourages her students through frustrating learning moments. My now husband and I started from zero and she carried us such a long way that we performed a big bachata number for our wedding. Candy is absolutely great! I like to bounce around learning different moves and mixing up different styles. Fortunately Candy understands me and she knows how to pull me back to reality and stick with a program. I've been to other studios to learn and Candy's easy style, professionalism and patience have helped my wife and I learn to dance and improve rapidly, much better than any place else that we tried. what we learned at another studio had a very slow progression, while with Candy we have progressed all the way from the Bronze level (beginning to learn to dance) and we're now well into the silver level in a very short period of time. Patience is a virtue and this lady has definitely mastered it! My husband and I came to Candace in hopes of surprising our wedding guests with a cliché first dance, which turned out way better than expected. Both of us being 90's kids, we had no idea about swing dancing or dancing in any way that would look elegant or graceful. The process was easy, we met, she gave us a free first lesson, we gave her the songs we wanted to dance to, a time frame, and we worked out all the moves and steps together. She takes her time to show you each and every step, which way to move, how to look, how to smile, and most importantly, how to enjoy it and have fun with it all. It really showed when we performed for our guests. If it wasn't for her, our first dance would have been about exciting as that last slow dance at your high school prom. She gives you very intimate lessons. There was no one else around except us and her, so if your two left feet are feeling shy, you have nothing to worry about. She is very professional and will make sure before you leave that you understand what you are doing. She even gave us a lesson plan for practice, since we only met once a week. My husband and I wanted to have our first dance to "La Vie en Rose" by Edith Piaf for our wedding. Only problem, we are both the most uncoordinated individuals on the dance floor (maybe that's what drew us together). Enter Candace, who over six lessons taught us a perfectly choreographed dance. My son and I did not want to do the traditional, slow motion two step Mother/Son dance at his wedding. We decided to secretly take Polka lessons to wow the crowd at his wedding. Candace quickly taught us to polka and choreographed our dance with a beginning, middle, and an end. We learned our dance to the same version of Roll Out the Barrel that was played at the wedding. Genius on Candace's part to do that. When this robust music began, my son and I confidently and flawlessly did the dance Candace had taught us. We heard thunderous applause at the end of our dance. I cannot say enough nice things about Candy, her talent, patience, teaching ability, etc. I went in for wedding lessons for a daddy-daughter dance and my first dance w my husband. She helped us all immensely and I couldn't thank her enough. At times, I wanted to just revert to the "shuffle" (side to side w the occasional twirl and maybe a dip if I'm feeling super fancy at the end), but her encouragement and lessons made it all worth while. Although she does offer group lessons, I was searching for something a little more personal. After doing some research, all I could find were the "big" guys everyone goes to, but after reading some reviews it seemed hit or miss, not to mention the cost! I thought that what I learned and accomplished w Candy was at an extremely fair price. She's well located, has easy parking, and its a nice, clean, new studio. If I ever need anything like this again or know anyone who does, she certainly has my recommendation! If you want to learn to dance and look good, she's the person. read more
