"The best music ever recorded."…read more Tooling around Charlotte this morning to get my errands done, I realize that I've never reviewed my favorite radio station. Rare on the breaks and the music in between is excellent. Bob Seger. The Police. The Eurythmics. A Sunday morning "Deep Cut" radio program and a Saturday morning "acoustic recordings" program. Excellent stuff. Keep it up. "Our friends call us... The Ride."

a very good station one of my favorites is a fan of deep cut vault style classic rock. however I…read morenoticed over the last year or sohas Iraq with the ride many times do a lot of stuff down around Gastonia Trucking in and out of there Trucking across 85 a lot we're doing this Trucking gig for almost 30 years now Long haul Rock and roller... there's been a little bit of a change in the format and the music selection is kind of not quite what it was. don't get me wrong it's still rocks balls to the wall for the most part just a little bit of change though can be noticed as a long time listener for Monday first came on the air back in the early 00s I believe. compared to if you look back when the station first began some more pop stuff is starting to seep in slowly. I mean Duran Duran really?? although being from Chicago I cannot deny the fact that my home station 97.1 The Drive is the same kind of way.. it all depends on who owns the station nowadays. But as a long-haul truck driver I could say there are three great stations and indeed that I love to even just log on to sometimes and listen live to. I have trouble with radio apps so a lot of times in areas where I am but if I have a Wi-Fi I will just go right to the station and listen live even like somewhere around the country. the ride, the drive, and the original 50 year old powerhouse that's never change format never Back Down been through changes but never stop rocking 94.7 The mighty KSHE 95 out of St Louis. being from Chicago and people ask me what would you listen to those are the three I would choose but the ride is still very enjoyable and has a good strong signal you pick it up quite a ways away and your rack with it for quite the way so it's still a good thing compared to a lot of the garbage that you can choose on the radio but personally for me I have just noticed that more and more though some of the format changes to the pop kind of stuff of the 80s that you really wouldn't consider back when it first started and they were more heavy deep cut. Just classic rock but the good Vault stuff

Was very interested when I ran across information leading me to a (very) local radio station but…read morewhen I try to access it I get the msg. "DNS address cannot be found". What's going on? Is it already down for the count or am I doing something wrong? Would love to give a local station a try especially one that covers local talent. Will cross my fingers and give it another try a little later. Don't know just exactly how to rate a station that I've never heard but will give it the benefit of the doubt, seeing that it seems to have it's heart in the right place, and give it five stars for now.

Yeah - radio emanating from Plaza Midwood!! I think the only time you're supposed to use the word…read more"emanating" is when you're referring to cool radio. Methinks this online radio station has been up and running about one year. It's the only radio in Charlotte that I can listen to. WNCW isn't bad but there's only so much bluegrass and mountain music one can take. I never have a clue what I'm listening to on PMCRADIO.ORG but it sounds fresh and different and wonderful. Plus, when I have it up on my computer screen, there is all this crazy stuff floating by - like artwork by local comic-dude Dustin Harbin and advertisements for local bands. Here are some of their shows - Audio Floss, Medieval Arab Lesbians (hey now!) and Viva Indie Rock! You can donate to keep this awesomeness going - and you'll get a bumper sticker or t-shirt depending on your tithe.

I miss the days of "Mom & Pop" radio stations, independently owned and free to dance to the beat of…read morewhatever drum solo they wanted. There were always a few creative geniuses behind the curtains, and the best marketing plan was the one with a huge shock factor. This was The End in the 90's. Passing through Charlotte towards college, I would see WEND's magical billboards with POT USA's lyrics: "Mud flowed up into Lump's Pajamas"- and knew I would do whatever it takes to work there one day. I graduated and worked there for six years. During my employment, Corporate America- in the form of Clear Channel Communications, came and bought Mom & Pop out. The differences were subtle at first, but the corporate conservative branding set in, and the results are what you hear today. The Weenie Roast was discontinued, morning shows ousted, but all changes the listeners forget after a bit. The air talent is still amazing, although it's hard to catch them with the more music, less talk initiative. Jack Daniel, who has been a key player for decades in Charlotte radio, (he gave John Boy & Billy their start in this town) was with The End at inception, and Rozak came soon after. Has WEND reached The End of their era, or is the New Rock Alternative music of today missing the edge of the 90's? I've debated over this many times, and unfortunately, find myself tuning to Lithium on Sirius much more than my beloved 106.5. I will always have a loyalty to the station that took me through my high school, college and early working years. I miss their unrestrained style and guerrilla marketing tactics that kept them a step above the sea of Charlotte radio, which is largely mass appeal.

The station was almost enjoyable 10 years ago. As time went by they really seemed to lose touch…read more They have had a tendency to seriously down grade their morning show (talent?) over the years. Each replacement show worse that the one prior. Their latest (Woody & Wilcox) are completely unbearable. Personally I can't stand to listen to them for more than five minutes. It is like they try way to hard to act like idiots. Morning shows really need to stop trying to be Howard Stern. Let's try something original shall we? I had the station on this morning after the morning show ended. Four songs in I had to change the station. They played one decent song, then the next three were not only obscure but down right bad. They are incredibly repetitive with the songs they play. They call themselves 'Charlotte's Alternative,' or 'New rock 106.5.' If this station would just focus on simply playing a variety good rock music and adopt a less talk and more music format, I'm sure their listener ship would increase. The previous review by Brian F. pretty much hit the nail on the head. The station has an annoying habit of announcing ridiculous things like, "A week from this Friday we are going to make a huge concert announcement!" And then continue to say that every half hour of every day until 'next Friday.'
