a drink and a laptop on a bar

Haven't been here in a while. It's a bigger bar with games and plenty of seating. There are multiple small rooms with different games and seating options. It's located in the south end, so parking can be a hassle. We didn't need to pay to get in, but they do have bouncers at the door checking IDs. This is definitely a spot to go if you want to play a few games, lounge, or just sit at the bar and drink. They have multiple TVs, so they do play the games. Overall, it's not a bad place to go and chill and catch up with friends. Nothing too different or spectacular with this place, though. Normal bar scene and crowd. I wouldn't mind coming again if in the area.

There was maybe 3 people in the whole bar on Saturday. I pulled up a chair I saw on the side of the bar next to the pool table to sit near friends playing. The security guard came over & took my seat after 2 hours & said this can't be here. Such a great sports bar who agrees?

I love the open area, plenty of tv's to watch games as well as the pool tables and ping pong tables but the drinks need work. Located right beside the light rail in Charlotte's South End, Slate is joined by many other restaurants and bars. Slate is a prime time location filled with tv's that's a great hang out to watch sports and get some, well mediocre, drinks. The staff at Slate was really cool.

I traveled from an hour away to visit Slate for the first time. I checked their website to make certain they were open (COVID). The site listed open business hours (5-12am). I still wanted to be 100% certain, so I called their number. It rang, no one answered, an automated response picked up and stated varying information, yet nothing indicative of pandemic closure. I also double checked the Facebook page listed for Slate, it gave corresponding Intel. I parked at the 495 Lynx station, took the train to Bland Street, walked a block and they were definately closed. Buzz killed, sunshine stolen, parade rained on. Update something. Please?

We went here to see the McGregor fight. It is that typical sports bar scene with alot of Tvs and packed when there is some event going on. So glad we got there two hours before the fight was one because when we left around 12:30 am, there was a massive line to get in! Definitely come early if you don't want to wait. We arrived around 10 pm on a Saturday.

This is the go to for sports games! There is no question this is the go to for The Panthers home games! Mixed crowd, hip hop music, restaurants directly next door if you're hungry. A few more within walking distance! The club side is always so packed! I can't give 4 stars for that -- they can't help that they're so popular!

One of a few bars before the crowd really packed it in.

One of the top game day destinations this place is at its best on NFL Sundays especially if the Panthers are in town. You'll see nearly every football team fan base represented and the whole thing feels like one giant party. Luckily they have the space to support such a crowd with multiple bars both inside and out. On a quieter night you can come here to enjoy their large variety of games including ping pong and pool. Sometimes this place can be a bit too "clubby" for my tastes and the crowds can be overwhelming at times. Still this is undeniably a fun place to be so next Sunday throw on your jersey and join the party!

The fried cheese sticks were great! The size is perfect and they pair well with marinara. We went (group of 9) around 5pm and by the time we left at maybe 7:30, it was just filling up. Didn't partake in the games or billiards so cannot speak on that, but our waitress at the bar was attentive and the guy out front helped set us up on WiFi. Good service, plenty of space, right off the blue line, have to try it again.

This place is pretty chill. You can come here for game night, drinks, fun and just a good vibe. Love the music and the bartenders are good too!

Drinks were moderately priced and delicious. They also offer a basket of white popcorn for only $1! Love this new spot and will definitely be back for sure! Unfortunately, this latest menu feels like a big step back. So many longtime staples are gone: no fries, no Brussels, no burrata, no flatbreads, and even the steak has disappeared from the mains. What's left feels repetitive, with multiple dishes centered around the same basmati rice and salad combination. We also tried the two new "for the table" additions, and neither felt worth the price. The "caviar" is simply roe at $25, and the deviled eggs with roe at $17 were underwhelming. Unless some of the old favorites return or there's more variety added, I don't see myself coming back anytime soon, aside from maybe Flight Night.

We sat at the bar and the bartenders were cool and laid back and engaging without being overly so. We had the Bijou and the vieux carre cocktails which I find hard to find in most really good bars. Here they were and made really well too. I know they require ingredients not all bars carry or can get in NC. We also had the Naan app which comes with tzatziki and the naan had a nice layer of zaatar spice on it . Went well with out drinks. I loved the Bijou . Such a good spirit forward drink. The bartender gave us a complementary shot of a bijou based drink. Had a little cinnamon to it but was good ! Nice touch as we were leaving ! We had a great time here before our next spot. I was at Blue Rocks with a few friends to grab a couple beers and play darts on a Friday night in February 2023. They have leagues on Friday nights so it was highly crowded with customers. As the night went on I went to the ladies room and unbeknownst to me, a man followed me into the women's restroom. I personally did not know he was in there but thankfully another customer saw this happen and went up to my friend and told her to run and go get me since I was followed. As I was walking out of the stall my friend abruptly opened the door and that is when I saw a man standing behind the wall of the other stall (in between the sink and stall), hiding. My friend immediately grabbed me and we quickly left the restroom. I immediately walked up to the bar tender to report the situation and he said he would "take care of it and thank you for letting him know". I felt reassured in this moment since the bar tender and I have seen each other several times and I felt like had a rapport. Or so I thought...but 10 or so minutes later go by and I see the same man still standing at the bar ordering a drink. This made me uncomfortable so I went to close out my tab to leave. The bar tender then says to me "I handled the situation." I stated "no, you did not, he is still in the bar." Bar tender replied "Well I asked him why he followed you into the women's restroom and he said he didn't know he was in the women's restroom." So not only did the bar tender NOT handle the situation, he also disclosed I was the one who reported the situation and now the man knows exactly who I am, where I have been sitting, where my friends are etc. I am writing this review because not only did I feel unsafe...the bartender also did not do his duty to protect his customers. I have been going to Blue rocks for years. By myself, with my friends, with my family and have never felt unsafe until this very night. I am extremely perturbed by how this was handled (well actually it wasn't handled) and want others to be aware so they can be prepared to protect themselves when they are there. Although the man did not harm me as the situation was stopped by multiple customers (thankfully...seriously I cannot thank you enough!) it was extremely inappropriate and unfortunate. I will not be returning to this establishment and I hope Blue Rocks can learn from this situation and act accordingly the next time this happens.
