It morphed from a chill spot to play duckpin bowling and enjoy a large selection of wine and beer to a loud hookah bar/nightclub with a cover charge. Don't know how it made such a 180 degree transformation, but the ridiculous parking and crowding combined with the strong police presence (due to an actual shooting that occurred) and the complete pivot away from its initial business model should deter anyone who wants a relaxing opportunity to sip a beverage and chill. Someone needs to update their listing. (Owner) This is a full on nightclub with a giant tv on the patio for sports watching. This is not a cute neighborhood beer/wine bar with duckpin and trivia. It was a rainy day and we were looking for something to do, so we stopped into Pinhouse. It was late afternoon and bowling was free, an added bonus! You check in and receive a bracelet that is linked to your credit card. They have a large selection of ciders, wines and beers, all self serve. You scan your bracelet , pour and are see how much you will be charged. The benefit is you can try a few ounces and sample many varieties. There is also a bar for mixed drinks. The bowling is Duckpin. It is ten pins and balls are really small, with no finger holes. There are only four lanes, so I would imagine they get booked quickly. It was horrible!!! First off they advertised one thing and when we got there it was something different but ok no problem. There wasn't anywhere to sit. We weren't sure how long we were going to stay so we went in the patio. No server came out at all. I asked if there was one and I was told yes but nobody ever came. Bright part a guy came out and tried to fix the heaters outside, one worked but not the other. Now, I sent my fiance to get us a drink a shot of Don Julio and a Long Island. He came back with receipt 33.00 ok cool. I spilled my drink so no wait I forgot they closed the door on us and we couldn't hear the music anymore. Ok so we go In now and stand by the TV vibing to the music it's ok. We get another round 33.00. Mind you I've had one drink. We decide to go somewhere else. We went down the street to a country western bar and had a ball. I get up this morning and 33.00 turned into 102.00 and the other charge went from 33.00 to 67.00. I was pissed and the funny part is the number to them is disconnected. Now I don't blame the company but their thieves of bartenders. I know the game I played it when I was younger. You add a big ass til for yourself thinking people are drunk and don't notice. I check mine every time for that reason. If and when I find out who did it I'm pressing charges for forgery. This is a cool spot to hangout in Plaza Midwood. We went for a private event and had a chance to try food from the new restaurant next door - The Club House. This was my first time at Pinhouse but it's a nice spot. It's not huge but they made good use of the space both up and down. There's plenty of seating, both inside and out, multiple games and of course plenty of beer and wine. I didn't get a chance to play duckpin bowling but they have 4 decent sized lanes. There's a "photo booth" downstairs and as far as cocktails, you can get a frozen one downstairs but otherwise cocktails are served at the bar upstairs. Start a tab with you card when you arrive and they'll give you a wristband which makes it super easy to pay as you go. You also get to see how much you've spent each time you pour. Prices vary by the ounce. The food was decent (Buffalo wings and a burger) and I believe The Club House next door will open their dining room soon. For now you can conveniently order at Pinhouse by scanning a QR code and your food will be delivered to the front. read more

I went to my friend's birthday party here at Pinhouse and it was good times. This is a great venue to host a party. This is a self-serve bar with duckpin bowling, hence the name Pinhouse. Duckpin bowling isn't "regular" bowling (a.k.a. ten-pin bowling) as most people know it. Instead, both the pins and balls in duckpin bowling are smaller. With a name like Pinhouse, I thought this place would have more bowling lanes, but there are actually only four lanes and they're tucked away in the basement. Overall, this is definitely more of a bar than a bowling alley. When I saw my buddy was having his party here, it immediately reminded me of a similar place we have in Atlanta called Pin & Proper. Pin & Proper has the bowling-football hybrid game Pinfall. Both Pinhouse and Pin & Proper opened around roughly the same time: July 27, 2019 for Pinhouse and August 24, 2018 for Pin & Proper. Anyway, it was hard for me not to make the comparison. The repurposed interiors look kind of the same too. In Pinhouse's case, the building was formerly occupied by Midwood Cleaners. An old Midwood Cleaners sign hangs on the wall next to the bowling lanes as neat decor and an homage to the business that came before. Pinhouse has two levels and multiple outdoor spaces. It's just a really cool and versatile hangout spot. We visited on a Saturday afternoon when the weather was nice, so most people were outside in the back, hidden from street view. There's an elevated patio, covered lower-level patio, and an artificial greenspace with lawn games like cornhole. During our visit, there was also live music and a food truck. This was a popular, busy, and happening place. The interior design has a modern and industrial look. There were lots of big, bright TVs playing sports, which I always appreciate. Several board games lined the shelves next to the check-in counter. Downstairs, along with four lanes of duckpin bowling, there was an official NBA basketball arcade game. There was seating and tables of all types, from cushioned, lounge-like chairs to stand-up, bar-height surfaces. The lower level had garage doors that opened up to the green out back, so there was a sort of al fresco feel. Inside, there were 72 self-serve taps. Most of the taps dispensed beer, but some had wine, one had kombucha, and another had orange juice. Cocktails could be ordered at the upstairs bar. The way the self-serve taps work is you check in at the front counter and link your payment card to a Pinhouse wristband. From there, you use your wristband (RFID) to access drinks from each tap. What I like most about this format is you can pour as much or as little as you'd like. You don't have to commit to full pours/glasses. It's a great way to sample many different types of beer (and wine). How the birthday party worked was the host had a single tab for the entire party. Each party guest got a wristband. Each wristband had a dollar limit. However, each wristband could be reloaded with more money from the party tab when the initial limit was reached. When you pour, you see the ounces and dollars go up in real-time on digital screens above the taps. The drink prices varied. You're supposed to return your wristband to Pinhouse before you leave. My favorite beer was the Red Oak (lager - amber) from Red Oak Brewery in Whitsett, NC. I also enjoyed the Orange Creamsicle Sherbet (sour - fruited Berliner Weisse) from Triple C Brewing Company in Charlotte. A couple of my wife's favorites included the Blueberry Wheat (wheat beer - American pale wheat) from Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, NC and the Plum Cherry Cinnamon Blender (sour - fruited) from Hopfly Brewing Co. in Rocky Mount, NC. As you can see, Pinhouse carries a lot of beers from in-state breweries, but they also have beer from out west (e.g., Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager, California) and overseas (e.g., Sion Kolsch, West Germany). My wife didn't like the Blackberry Wild (cider - other fruit) from Ciderboys Hard Cider in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Note the beers on tap upstairs are different from the beers on tap downstairs. The staff was polite and attentive. There's a free parking lot on-site, though it's not very big. I got lucky and snagged a spot right in front of the building. If you can't find parking on-site, you can park for free in the Veterans Memorial Park parking lot, next to the tennis courts, just around the corner. Pinhouse is pet-friendly. I went to this amazing venue for my cousin's wedding reception. It is a self pour tap house. They have beer and wine on tap with 50 varieties on the top level and 22 downstairs. The upstairs patio is huge and overlooks the grounds below. The inside bottom area hosts four bowling lanes, a dart throwing area, and arcade basketball. Its set up like a lounge in the center with comfortable couches on both sides. There are bar stool partitions to separate the floorplan a little which provided extra seating and table space to dine. There's a huge patio and spacious lawn with a fireplace. This place worked out great because we have a lot of kids in our family. The bowling and basketball keep them busy the entire night. I showed the staff and to make up for it they asked if I wanted another red oak and based off what came out I stated No! We came here for the food truck that was here and grabbed a couple of drinks while we were here. We got the PinHoused & Sour Patch Margarita cocktails. They were ok, but nothing special to me. You have to get a bracelet first, pre pay it, then you just scan the bracelet on the dispenser whenever you want a drink. First timers at Pinhouse. This location is so unique. I love the atmosphere, the style and decor. They did a good job to maintain what they could of the old Dry Cleaners that used to be there. There is beer pours both up and downstairs. For those that prefer wine you can find it upstairs. The upstairs atmosphere appears to be a quieter more social place to hangout whereas the downstairs there are games; hence the name Pinhouse; televisions to watch sports, and a really nice outside area to sit. On cold nights they have heater towers to keep everyone warm. They put 2 corn hole games outside as well. Honestly it has everything you could want in a place to hang out with friends! The food truck Twisted Eats was AMAZING! You have to try the cheeseburger flatbread. Everything we tried was wonderful. Overall a great evening. Met a great couple there. Hoppin' is great but Pinhouse is even greater! Looove this place. They have a variety of games including Jenga and battleship that you can get from the front. They even have 4 lanes of duckpins on the bottom floor but beware of a waitlist. All lanes were taken when we got there and there was already a wait. So we played games instead and sipped on their beer, cider, and wine. We had Will (I think his name was) help us in navigating where all the drinks were and on what floor. Love the vibes here! We visited on a Monday evening so it was quiet. The manager was very helpful in setting us up with wristbands for the pour-your-own beer and wine. Lots of great options of sours and fun beers in addition to PBR and Prosecco. The taps were quite foamy but the manager assured me he was getting them fixed ASAP. I ordered the cheese snack pack which comes with a shareable tub of pimento cheese, I chose smoked Gouda and roasted red pepper. They also had classic and a few other options. There was salami and veggies sides on the menu but they were not available yet so that will be a great treat soon. There is a McDonald's across the street and a few restaurants down the road. The duck pin bowling was $3 per game on Mondays and very fun. There are 4 lanes with multiple players per lane. The atmosphere is so cool, gorgeous interior design furniture to lounge in. Very dope promo video, great song choice! Anyway, Pinhouse is a two story self serve bar. Free bowling is offered Sunday-Thursday as their winter special. We ended up not being able to bowl as others were on the lanes. We still made the best of our night out. We played on the pin ball machine and my personal favorite took silly pictures at the free photo booth downstairs. HOW IT WORKS: 1. Give your ID and a credit or debit card to a pinhouse employee at the front desk when you walk in. 2. You'll receive a wrist band with a 32oz (at-a-time) limit that is attached to your name and your card. 3. Grab any glass, choose a beer, wine or cider and pour as little or as much as you'd like. Their technology will keep track for you. 4. When you're done, return your pinhouse wrist band to the front desk. you will only be charged for the amount you poured. Pin house had a little parking lot so we had to park on the street which was a short 5-10 min walk to the place. When we arrive at they gave us wristbands and explained what to do on how to get food and drinks. Pin house had a cupcake truck and a pizza truck which both located outside in the parking lot they both were good. Pinehouse had outdoor seating and indoor seating which was cool. When we went inside to grab drinks we had to give our card and the staff explained to us how to get the drinks. He stated we put on the wrist bands and when we want a drink we tap the wristband to the drink we want and then we hold our cup under the tap line. We serve ourselves. They had glasses laid out for anyone to grab. They have shelves listed clean and dirty. Grab a clean glass rinse it out by placing it upside down on these water fountains things to rinse it out. Then tap your wrist band and pour your drink. They had a digital screen that would tell you how much you poured and the about you paid for your pour. On the display screen it showed you how much each item cost for example they had one beer $0.68 per oz. the variety of prices were displayed for all of the items They had a variety of items on tap from beer, cider, wine and champagne, OJ which was free. They also had a full bar if you didn't want to drink those items and get a mixed drink or something else. Once we figured out the drinks and tasted a variety of items we ended getting some food at the pizza truck. To check out the we handed in our wristbands to the cashier. Return dirty glasses in a different section when you're done. There are taps on the first floor and the second floor, so if you don't see what you want, venture up or down. Seating areas are available on both levels. They often have live music upstairs. There is an elevated patio upstairs, and a ground level patio downstairs. Outside, you'll find cornhole and an outdoor fireplace. At times, various food truck vendors are onsite as well. On the lower level is where you'll bind the duck pin bowling lanes. They only have four, but you can join a wait list on busy nights. Most of the time there is no wait. Once on your lane, you bowl as you are. There's no need for stinky bowling shoes. It's great for kids too. The bowling balls and pins are smaller than traditional bowling, so it's easy. You don't even have to utter the words, "Here, hold my beer." Scoring is automatic on an electronic monitor above each lane. The only kink they are still working out are occasional mechanical issues with the lanes, but they are always quick to remedy should there be any hiccups.
