It was a rainy day and we were looking for something to do, so we stopped into Pinhouse. It was late afternoon and bowling was free, an added bonus! You check in and receive a bracelet that is linked to your credit card. They have a large selection of ciders, wines and beers, all self serve. You scan your bracelet , pour and are see how much you will be charged. The benefit is you can try a few ounces and sample many varieties. There is also a bar for mixed drinks. The bowling is Duckpin. It is ten pins and balls are really small, with no finger holes. There are only four lanes, so I would imagine they get booked quickly. Outside food is allowed, since none is served here. There is a patio, I am sure it would be great if it wasn't raining.

Super fun place and good beer options! I always love self-pour places, where I can decide how much and what I want. Pinhouse has two levels of pours/taps and also had duck-pin bowling and games. Great place to chill out, have some fun playing games and have drinks! Staff was great and helpful! Process was easy, in that you out a card on file and checkout before leaving - all pours/charges go on the card. Located on Central Ave in Plaza Midwood area. Parking lot isn't very big, so you might end up parking down the street - a little way or further down by the apartments. But it's all good...worth the good time! Stop in and enjoy some drinks and fun games!

This is a cool spot to hangout in Plaza Midwood. We went for a private event and had a chance to try food from the new restaurant next door - The Club House. This was my first time at Pinhouse but it's a nice spot. It's not huge but they made good use of the space both up and down. There's plenty of seating, both inside and out, multiple games and of course plenty of beer and wine. I didn't get a chance to play duckpin bowling but they have 4 decent sized lanes. There's a "photo booth" downstairs and as far as cocktails, you can get a frozen one downstairs but otherwise cocktails are served at the bar upstairs. Start a tab with you card when you arrive and they'll give you a wristband which makes it super easy to pay as you go. You also get to see how much you've spent each time you pour. Prices vary by the ounce. The food was decent (Buffalo wings and a burger) and I believe The Club House next door will open their dining room soon. For now you can conveniently order at Pinhouse by scanning a QR code and your food will be delivered to the front.

Fun pour your own beer/wine and pin bowl place. I came here with my cousin to catch up and it was a great place to do so. Unfortunately there are only 4 lanes so you won't always get a chance to play, but there is a nice inside and outside area to just hang around and chat!

Outside. Street sign. Free parking on-site.

I went to my friend's birthday party here at Pinhouse and it was good times. This is a great venue to host a party. This is a self-serve bar with duckpin bowling, hence the name Pinhouse. Duckpin bowling isn't "regular" bowling (a.k.a. ten-pin bowling) as most people know it. Instead, both the pins and balls in duckpin bowling are smaller. With a name like Pinhouse, I thought this place would have more bowling lanes, but there are actually only four lanes and they're tucked away in the basement. Overall, this is definitely more of a bar than a bowling alley. When I saw my buddy was having his party here, it immediately reminded me of a similar place we have in Atlanta called Pin & Proper. Pin & Proper has the bowling-football hybrid game Pinfall. Both Pinhouse and Pin & Proper opened around roughly the same time: July 27, 2019 for Pinhouse and August 24, 2018 for Pin & Proper. Anyway, it was hard for me not to make the comparison. The repurposed interiors look kind of the same too. In Pinhouse's case, the building was formerly occupied by Midwood Cleaners. An old Midwood Cleaners sign hangs on the wall next to the bowling lanes as neat decor and an homage to the business that came before. Pinhouse has two levels and multiple outdoor spaces. It's just a really cool and versatile hangout spot. We visited on a Saturday afternoon when the weather was nice, so most people were outside in the back, hidden from street view. There's an elevated patio, covered lower-level patio, and an artificial greenspace with lawn games like cornhole. During our visit, there was also live music and a food truck. This was a popular, busy, and happening place. The interior design has a modern and industrial look. There were lots of big, bright TVs playing sports, which I always appreciate. Several board games lined the shelves next to the check-in counter. Downstairs, along with four lanes of duckpin bowling, there was an official NBA basketball arcade game. There was seating and tables of all types, from cushioned, lounge-like chairs to stand-up, bar-height surfaces. The lower level had garage doors that opened up to the green out back, so there was a sort of al fresco feel. Inside, there were 72 self-serve taps. Most of the taps dispensed beer, but some had wine, one had kombucha, and another had orange juice. Cocktails could be ordered at the upstairs bar. The way the self-serve taps work is you check in at the front counter and link your payment card to a Pinhouse wristband. From there, you use your wristband (RFID) to access drinks from each tap. What I like most about this format is you can pour as much or as little as you'd like. You don't have to commit to full pours/glasses. It's a great way to sample many different types of beer (and wine). How the birthday party worked was the host had a single tab for the entire party. Each party guest got a wristband. Each wristband had a dollar limit. However, each wristband could be reloaded with more money from the party tab when the initial limit was reached. When you pour, you see the ounces and dollars go up in real-time on digital screens above the taps. The drink prices varied. You're supposed to return your wristband to Pinhouse before you leave. My favorite beer was the Red Oak (lager - amber) from Red Oak Brewery in Whitsett, NC. I also enjoyed the Orange Creamsicle Sherbet (sour - fruited Berliner Weisse) from Triple C Brewing Company in Charlotte. A couple of my wife's favorites included the Blueberry Wheat (wheat beer - American pale wheat) from Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, NC and the Plum Cherry Cinnamon Blender (sour - fruited) from Hopfly Brewing Co. in Rocky Mount, NC. As you can see, Pinhouse carries a lot of beers from in-state breweries, but they also have beer from out west (e.g., Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager, California) and overseas (e.g., Sion Kolsch, West Germany). My wife didn't like the Blackberry Wild (cider - other fruit) from Ciderboys Hard Cider in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Note the beers on tap upstairs are different from the beers on tap downstairs. The staff was polite and attentive. There's a free parking lot on-site, though it's not very big. I got lucky and snagged a spot right in front of the building. If you can't find parking on-site, you can park for free in the Veterans Memorial Park parking lot, next to the tennis courts, just around the corner. Pinhouse is pet-friendly. In fact, judging from one of their Instagram posts, I think pets are even encouraged: https://www.instagram.com/p/CaA2MD0JeJh/. Enjoy.

I went to this amazing venue for my cousin's wedding reception. It is a self pour tap house. They have beer and wine on tap with 50 varieties on the top level and 22 downstairs. The upstairs patio is huge and overlooks the grounds below. The inside bottom area hosts four bowling lanes, a dart throwing area, and arcade basketball. Its set up like a lounge in the center with comfortable couches on both sides. There are bar stool partitions to separate the floorplan a little which provided extra seating and table space to dine. There's a huge patio and spacious lawn with a fireplace. This place worked out great because we have a lot of kids in our family. The bowling and basketball keep them busy the entire night. It also kept the adults entertained as well.

We previously came here before for a Yelp event and then the pandemic struck and we haven't really been to any bars. We came here for the food truck that was here and grabbed a couple of drinks while we were here. We got the PinHoused & Sour Patch Margarita cocktails. They were ok, but nothing special to me. I'd probably stick to the self pour stuff. I love that they have duckpin bowling, though we didn't play on this visit. They have a really nice outdoor area too. This would be a great place for a happy hour since they have something for everyone.

Fun bar with bowling and karaoke! They only have 4 lanes for bowling so you have to wait if they are taken. Bowling is free on Thursday's which is nice! They also had karaoke and a bar upstairs. I wish they had more games and bowling lanes though. Service was great! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the frozen strawberry mango sangria. It was ok, I wasn't a fan of the strawberry syrup they used. Also it was a little pricey for the size. Overall, this is a fun place and I'll definitely be back for more games and drinks!

This place has such a cool vibe! You put a card on file and they give you a bracelet. You grab your own cup and scan your bracelet to choose what beer you like. This is a really cool place to hangout and chill with friends. They have board games and a little bowling alley down stairs. Also, I love how it's dog friendly. This is definitely worth visiting if you are in town!

I love this "serve yourself concept" for someone indecisive like me. I can take as many sips of beer as I want before committing to a full pour. Essentially, you check in where you enter. You give the host your credit card and that translates to an open tab which is accessible via a wrist bad given to you. You scan your wrist band at whichever pour station you wish to choose. And the. Pour however many ounces of the drink that you would like. There was a great variety of wine, sangria, sours, IPAs, goose, and stout beers. The was for home outside and duck pin inside. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, this place is 2 levels and completely serve yourself! Parking lot is located in the rear. Staff was super friendly and efficient, making sure everything was flawless during our visit.

Want a fun night out?? Go here!! The variety of tap is amazing, duckpin fun and there is corn hole. Frozen Margarita was bitter and strong... only had one. Pinhouse bracelet is your tab and how you are able to pour front the tap. Which is a very organized system with variety of Clean glasses and designated labeled area for you to place your Dirty glasses. Menu offer snacks and normally they have food trucks outdoors. There is an upstairs and balcony which adds to the ambiance, there is a dj upstairs! My girlfriends has a great time and are going to visit on a Sunday for .75cent per oz Sangria!! I highly recommend you to go and share how much fun you have!! 5/7/21

    The warm fireplace outside!

Upon arrival it was no parking so we had to park across the street, but it was a short walk and soon as we checked in we started checking out the dispensers. I got the sangria slush and my hubby got a OMB beer! Pinhouse as a cute set up outside. The workers were really nice and helpful when deciding which drink I got, I'd definitely come back!

    Yelp Elite Halloween party
    Evelyn H.

Yelp Elites Halloween party was the best gathering yet. Our coordinator planned this one to the hilt. And to get it done at Pinhouse Charlotte was buttercream on the cake! Did I mention they have 2 floors of fun and 72 varieties of beer. Yup, y'all heard right S-E-V-E-N-T-Y T-W-O! And that patio fireplace... stop playing with the comfort that flame gave off when the temp dropped. Now imma tell y'all about a little secret that the keep behind the downstairs register, but don't tell nobody you heard it from me. They got a frozen Margaritas machine down there, but not your average cause dem tings be danger lethal! Had a most fun time at this cool spot. Book your next event here if you want to impress and satisfy your guests

No longer a self pour bar or duckpin bowling place. It's solely a night club and events place.

Wow what an experience! I'm in Charlotte for the weekend, and my good friend's colleague…read morerecommended we come here after dinner for drinks. There's outdoor seating, and initially we wanted to sit outside but we didn't have reservations. Luckily, they seated us at a small corner section near the back of the bar. It's very cozy and intimate inside. Just my type of vibe. The service was top tier. They were unable to validate our parking because of some sort of discrepancy with the signage outside and lack of having the proper equipment for validation. To make up for it, they offered us complimentary champagne to start. We were not expecting that, and pleasantly surprised! Their menu has an eclectic selection of cocktails, both full and mini. We opted to order from the mini cocktail menu, and we each ordered two drinks. I had the Creepy cucumber cocktail and it was refreshingly sweet and probably my favorite drink of the night. I also ordered the Don't Shy Away which was a sour and spicy rum concoction with carrot in it. It was definitely spicy and had a puréed texture. I really enjoyed it. And, then don't get me started on the music!!! The dj was masterful. He played all the types of music I love and he mixed them in such a refreshing way. I ended up asking him for his contact information before leaving, and whether he does weddings because my fiancé and I are currently looking for a DJ. He was just that good. This would definitely be my spot if I lived here in Charlotte. It was the perfect way for us to end the night.

It's a small intimate setting and I do love the dark aesthetic they did. Gives it a swanky vibe and makes a great date spot. But they were burning incense in the tiny space and it was overwhelming. The other bar guests sitting next to us agreed. *They did finally pick up on it and the staff moved it toward the kitchen door* Staff was friendly as well, though, it was busy and looked as if they had a trainee in tow, so attention was lacking just a bit. So why we came: The drinks were average to me. One was weird (Pineapple Fried Rice) and I just couldn't get it sit well on my palate - and I tried - sip after sip. But the mixologist saw my struggle and swapped it out for a different one. I did like the Don't Shy Away - it was an interesting take on a margarita with a strong carrot base. The Whispering Dove was a take on a Paloma and I couldn't find the lemongrass infusion on my palate. So I found it pretty basic, but pricey. So overall, decent. And I might stop buy if I was stuck in the area again.

Luckily for them there are plenty of good options, one of which is The Free Range Bar! Free Range Brewing is one of the older Charlotte breweries that has been around since 2015 during the height of the craft beer craze. Due to their years of fostering a community, it is no surprise to me that they were able to open up a satellite tap room years later. This second location is smack dab in Camp Northend surrounded by plenty of patio seats outside, and featuring a quaint little barroom inside. This smaller tap room has a more intimate setting. The people working there are friendly and they have a variety of beers to try along with other beverages if beer isn't your thing. While I don't think this is a replacement for the original, it does a good job paying homage, and provides great beer options for Camp Northend. We only knew our lanes were available when I went to check in on them. And while the online ordering system is great, it's pretty sporadic. We received 2/3 of the drinks from the same order (the one missing being a beer so likely the easiest to compile), which the bar was happy to give us as soon as we went to it, so I do wish I had just ordered at the bar. The bar staff were super friendly and attentive. We grabbed a pizza which was fine but I did appreciate the plates/cutter/etc that it came with making it easy to distribute. The location is great, easily walkable if you're in the area. And the wait time for two lanes itself was maybe 10 minutes on a Friday night, so definitely pretty accessible. I do wish there were a rack of available balls, as our lanes had a random variety of weights with no discernible rhyme or reason. They were out of socks the night we went, which is partly our fault for not wearing socks to go bowling.
