We've read so much about this place, we had to try it. I had the OB Burger. Grilled onions, crispy onion with an onion sauce on a huge burger on a pretzel bun. Had to take half home. The fries were ok but a lot! We had mimosas which were nice. Also split the huge cinnamon roll and slice of the carrot cake that they're famous for. They were good but I have had better. How have I not been here before?! Our family lives in Vegas and has made a few trips to historic Route 66 but never to Westside Lilo's. That's all changed. We chose to stop here on our way to Sedona, AZ and were pleasantly surprised. As a family of four we rate this restaurant 16/20 strong (4 people * 5 stars). The Atmosphere: We loved that the restaurant is All-American good without also being exclusionary (iykyk). The decor is all wood paneling, carved tables, and comfortable chairs. The Food: We ordered Chicken Fried Steak platter, a 2-Egg Breakfast, and Pancakes. The food took a little longer than expected (25 minutes) but came out piping hot and fresh. The chicken fried steak and gravy had amazing flavor and texture and was seasoned well. The pancakes were done well with the right mix of flour to egg (often they're too fluffy or too dense). They also came with whipped butter that melted easily allowing the food to stay hot and maple syrup. The drawback was the seasoning and doneness of "Those Potatoes" (breakfast potatoes). The potatoes themselves were cut macedoine (tiny square) and were obviously baked rather than fried for time's sake, but lacked seasoning. The peppers and onions mixed in with them needed longer cooking time. This place is a great bit of Route 66 history which is celebrating 30 years this year and should not be missed. Order any of their breakfast items and expect to be met with fresh hot down-home goodness, but bring a little Johnny's seasoning in your purse. read more

So nice we came back twice! Some friends and I spent an overnight stay in Seligman and ate both dinner & breakfast at Westside Lilo's. You better believe all of the great reviews are for a reason! To start the service was top notch, super friendly and timing of everything was perfect. They also were very accommodating to my friend who has a gluten allergy. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the fried shrimp for dinner which came with a homemade cocktail sauce, roasted corn and a baked potato. The portion size was very generous, I wish I could've finished it all. For breakfast I had their chorizo and eggs which also was huge & came with their homemade salsa. Of course I had to take home a slice of their famous carrot cake, it lived up to the hype. If you're passing through Seligman, make sure this is a must stop! A true gem of a find. read more

Along Old Highway 66 Lilo's is a gem. Set in the nostalgic moments of Highway 66 with a rustic interior decor. The Chicken Fried Steak was moist and tender with a crispy fried coating. My family came to Westside Lilio's cafe the first time in 2021 on our way to Grand Canyon but because of the cold weather, slippy roads and summer tires we had to turn around. This year we came back to America and finally got to see the Grand Canyon. Of course we had to stop by Westside Lilios again since that was where our trip ended last time. The service was excellent. I didn't get her name but one of the ladies was super friendly and attentive. I order country fried steak, my wife had the schnitzel and her girlfriend had the French dip. The fries were fresh cut and flavorful. The schnitzel was so good that I was stealing bites. My dish was huge and it was great as well. The restaurant was clean and had a steady flow of people. The town is a treat to drive through, and we decided to stop in for breakfast. It was very busy, but we were seated quickly, and the service was great. The decor is abundant inside, so we were entertained while our food order entered the queue. The service was excellent even though they were slammed! So friendly and helpful. The place has charm, bathrooms are very clean. We has a buffalo crispy sandwich and my husband that was the best sandwich he has ever had and even had to tell the cook. Light, tender and just the right amount of sauce. I had had the Cobb salad with grilled chicken. So good and so big! But worth every bite. We saw people having breakfast, which looked amazing. Breakfast for Dinner [Seligman AZ] We were hankering for a breakfast meal (at dinner time). At first we stopped at the Roadkill Cafe but they did not serve breakfast but was suggested by the waitress that the restaurant across the street did. We apologized and headed here at Westside Lilo's Cafe. The restaurant was not too busy and we were led to a table for two. I ordered Country Fried Steak while the hubby just wanted a bowl of the soup of the day which was Pozole. He really liked the soup! My Country Fried Steak was crispy, hearty and smothered in a rich, beefy creamy gravy and topped with fried eggs. Delicious! Wish we had room for their world-famous carrot cake (as advertised on the signage outside). The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and customer service was excellent, nice and friendly, we were well taken care of. We stayed at the Supai motel that night and happened to try out this place since it had good ratings. The server was an old lady and she came in with so much energy and kept the vibe going. We all tried different burgers and sandwiches; the black bean burger was good, came with coleslaw. The waitress' recommendation for dessert was their Carrot cake which they call it "world famous". Initially we thought it was a joke but the cake was absolutely delicious. I don't eat sweets that are too sugary especially the ones with frosting but this one was perfect! Apparently, there was this popular chef who visited this place decades ago tried their carrot cake and termed it "World famous" and that's where it got the name from. If you're staying in Seligman, this is a solid choice. If you're just passing through, there may be better options--but either way, the service here was great. The food was decent. I tried the chicken fried steak for something new, and it was fine. I preferred the brown gravy over the white. The veggies were a bit bland, but the mashed potatoes were good. The burger was decent, and the home-cut fries were okay (they offer different styles, like waffle-cut, which is a nice touch). Where this place really shines is dessert. The carrot cake slice is massive--super dense and full of warm holiday spice flavors. I do wish they offered me their cupcake version since the slice was so large, but it's perfect for sharing or taking to-go. The interior was clean and had the rustic, small-town decor you'd expect, complete with statement pieces and taxidermy mounts on the walls. Overall our visit was fine. The staff were very pleasant interact with and took care of us throughout. The room is a nice mix of seating options. As they were quite busy we opted to sit at the counter. The seating was reasonably comfortable and there was enough space for us to enjoy our dinner. I was intrigued by the possibility of having Wienerschnitzel in a place like Seligman. Unfortunately the Wienerschnitzel did not have the usual finish that I'm accustomed to. It was rather more like breaded pork. The seasoning wasn't quite right, and the breading was not quite right either. Weinerschnitzel is hard to get right, so I understand. The fresh cut french fries were much better, and I was so glad that the waitress talked me into getting these. Ranch dip was provided and was delicious also. The service was quick and friendly. The ambiance of knotty pine, German license plates and animal heads on the wall was just like in I was expecting from the YELP pictures. I got worried when I took a taste of my water, the glass had residue on the glass and the water tasted weird. When the Ruben arrived it looked good albeit on the small side. When I was adding my Russian dressing, there was (gasp) mayo, yuck! The Swiss cheese tasted like processed, plastic and nothing like Swiss. And the pastrami was minimal. Hey, I know that I am in Seligman buuuut, I blame Cindy's Diner in Holbrook and oh my goodness, the best and most memorable and insanely delicious Ruben. The food was good and our server was always coming by to check on us. I highly recommend the carrot cake. It was more dense than what I expected, but in the best way. I think a whole table could share it because between 2 of us, it took days for us to actually finish it! What was memorable to me was the outdoorsy theme of the restaurant with a German twist. First time here. The food was good it was just a cute place to boot and the server that I had was just a doll. Easy parking. I was passing through and decided to stop here and there were so many places on this little tiny stop to go but I chose this one and I'm glad I did. Everybody knows everybody here and if somebody comes in they don't get ignored everybody who works there is aware that they are there. They have a really cute gift shop with all kinds of fun stuff. I also brought in my little therapy dog and they treated him very well. I bought him his own chopped chicken. The Flagge der Bundesrepublik Deutschland/Germany with its distinctive black, red, golden yellow horizontal stripes fluttering in the wind of Arizona high country caught my eye driving along old Route 66 in Seligman which means blessed man in German.  Westside Lilo Café with a gift shop featuring Route 66 memorabilia is closer to an American diner in terms of its menu with a bit of Mexican. There are only three German items: Bratwurst Sausage in a sour dough roll; Jäger Schnitzel; Schweine/pork Schnitzel and not Wiener Schnitzel since by definition, the meat must be veal. 1) I chose the Jäger Schweine Schnitzel which is pork pounded to a thin steak, lightly breaded and pan fried. Reminds me of the Italian Costoletta Milanese.  Jäger (yay gehr) means hunter, and this savory brown sauce is chockful of mushrooms which was traditionally from the German forests. This gravy has a satisfying brothy Umami.   Ordered accompanying French fries crispy, but due to the high heat, they came out dark brown and still not having that Belgian style twice fried light crispiness although I was told they were hand cut potatoes.  The mushy, dull green peas & carrots look as though they come out of a can from the 1950's. A mini roll rounded out the dish. The Jäger Schnitzel portion was fine.  Perhaps ditching the canned peas & carrots and replacing it with a little salad would be more refreshing. And brining the cut potatoes and frying them under lower heat twice would create better French fries.  2) Coconut Cream Pie: The light yellow filling was thickened, luscious, dairy rich. Standard pie crust a-ok. But the whipped cream tasted like coolwhip with a slight chemical after taste. I had to scrape it off which unfortunately also eliminated the toasted coconut flakes.  3) Carrot Cake Muffin was another matter. Cake is moist, soft, velvety. Sweetened and aromatic by brown sugar toastiness, touch of vanilla.  The off white cream cheese frosting is thick, creamy sweet, but the crowning flavour is a good dose of almond extract that adds a refreshing, nutty scent that makes this carrot cake so alluring. Half a walnut crowns the top.  2-3a) Iced Tea plain since I planned to drive all the way to L.A. right afterward. What impressed me was my waitress Kris and her dark haired working partner. When a huge crowd suddenly came in, they went into high gear coördinating their movements and strategies like well planned choreography.  Remembering many multiple orders, literally running from the kitchen window to various tables to deliver the right dish to each customer. Of course, there were customer requests to fulfill along the way.  All this was done with smiles and rushed friendly small talk. They are thoughtful, kind, charming, enthusiastic about their jobs which is so very refreshing and moving.  I jokingly told Kris that she didn't have to go to the gym.  Food here is good, but the two waitresses make coming to Westside Lilo a joy. Their warm banter among themselves & the customers make this a feel good place.  Earlier, they made time to give bons mots to an older gentleman who came every Tuesday like clockwork making him feel very welcome.  Truly the spirit of Route 66 is exemplified by these two "Laverne & Shirleys". This was around 6pm on April 9th 2024. One day after the total solar eclipse that swept through the U.S. farther east. So glad I experienced the love. Lilo, if you're reading this, please give them a well deserved raise if you haven't done so already.  "Geben Sie ihnen eine Gehaltserhöhung doch bitte." 5 stars for the kind service.
