Annual Easter egg hunt
Beau T.

The annual Easter egg hunt is undoubtedly the most anticipated event held at this park; each year at the night before the event, the park manger would release mythical creatures known as Easter bunnies that have been kept in captivity all year long just to lay 30,000 plastic eggs filled with teeth rotting candies over 4 professional size baseball fields. As the legend would have it, that amongst these otherwise ordinary eggs, there would be a few special "golden" eggs and if captured, they would reward their possessors with an extraordinarily cheap gift. Upon arrival, one could easily observe the shear determination exhibited on the faces of young hunters who have been trained physically and prepared mentally to put the "Hunt" in egg hunt. As the clock quickly approaching 10am, the tension reached to such fever that the slightest disturbance would cause a disastrous avalanche. Then without warning, the sound of whistle blasted over speakers triggering the ensuing chaos; in an utter pandemonium, these once seemed so innocent pre-adolescences turned into swarming locusts deploying their hard-earned skills and tactics: pushing, tripping, shoving each other while devouring everything in their path. In less than a minute, there was nothing left but bare fields of dust as the younger hunters must now return to the hands of former guardians only until next year's return. Some proven to be triumphant while other less victorious ones retrieved with disappointment that were quite evident. Yet it never ceased to amaze that year after year as the crowd dispersed into the parking lots, they would sporadically encounter those unprepared and unaware families just casually arriving into park where the battle ground once it stood and carrying with them empty baskets of hope, and only to realize that shocking truth they now must face...they were late. As the realization set in, the younglings' laughter turned into tantrums, and the tears in their eyes....priceless!

Playground

This park has basketball court, soccer field play ground and plenty of area to enjoy with the family. No charge to enter and use some of the area.

Lovely variety of botanical species that's keeps you intrigued. Very peaceful and zen which is great for relaxation and meditation. No noise except the beautiful sound of birds shirping. Have a sit on one of their benches and enjoy a moment of introspection and thinking. Stroll down the many walkways and trails and enjoy nice lake views and untouched old trees that have branches stretching wide and low with spanish moss hanging. Dreamy almost ghostly like vibe. The visitor's center is big and has a museum exhibition inside about tribal history. Wish it was closer to home otherwise this would be my go to meditation park. Just a peaceful and beautiful place.

I wanted to give him a chance to walk around and make sure everything was okay before we left the area. There is a shaded paved exercise trail that goes throughout the park and we took a little stroll. Sunny really started perking up as we walked through the park. Besides the exercise path there are benches, a shaded playground, and a covered picnic pavilion. In the center of the park is an open play area and several large ficus trees. At the edge of the park we discovered a community kindness rock garden which encourages you to take a rock and leave one. I love how well maintained and beautifully landscaped the parks are in Weston. I also love that they are dog friendly. Dogs on leashes are always welcome as long as you clean up after yourself with the poo bags they kindly provide. This is just one of the many beautiful parks in Weston that add charm to the city.
