The grounds are gorgeous and they make sure that everything is running smoothly and people know where they are going. As a drop in location, more like 3 or 3.5 stars. My most recent visit was to take advantage of the igloos. We opted to try the cheese and chocolate fondue which was $25 per person. There was a nice amount of dippers and dip, but the chocolate and cheese were lukewarm. It tasted fine, but they might need to rethink how they warm it for next year. The igloos also weren't all that warm. Thankfully it wasn't a chilly night, but it it was, we would have been pretty cold. Overall, though, we enjoyed our experience. The "buffet" was really sparse for what they charge. $20 and there was soup, salad and three pizza options. Maybe if you get there right when it starts it might be good, but when we checked it out, the pizza had clearly been sitting for awhile and looked dried out. They had fun seasonal cocktails and many flavors of cider and let you sample the cider before making a choice. Service was great. Overall, the ground are gorgeous and the drinks are fun.

The venue itself was nice and the service was good. The experience, though, was just okay. It was also freezing--high of 11 degrees that night. The igloo had a heater, but it was still around 40 degrees inside, and we only lasted about an hour. There was live music, so we ended up leaving the igloo to go inside, but it honestly wasn't much warmer indoors either. By the end of the night, just my husband and I had spent over $100: $30 for the sangria tower, $12 for a small cheese pizza, $20 for hot chocolate, $25 for fondue, plus our $15 share of the igloo. Overall, it was something different to try, but not something I'd do again. Next time, we'd just come to hear the live music, spend $20 on the buffet (which we didn't even know was available), and have a few beers--cheaper, warmer, and way more comfortable

Bell's Banquets - beautiful barn wedding

It still has the barn/farmhouse vibe that was a perfect fit for the bride and groom. It is conveniently located off of the main road, so it was only a 10 minute drive from our hotel in Mt. Pleasant. The parking lot was huge and there were no issues with finding parking. They had everything beautifully displayed inside from the centerpieces, to the seating arrangements to the favors. Our family brought all of that in of course, but the venue had twinky lights and tulle around the railings and the venue. The bar carried all types of alcohol and even let guests do shots. The bartenders were friendly and patient with our crazy family. Once seated, the staff brought around bread and salads. The tables were perfectly spaced apart and it was very comfortable for 160 guests. They had a station on the dancefloor for appetizers which included cheese and crackers, stuffed mushrooms, mac and cheese bites, and meatballs. The stuffed mushrooms and mac and cheese bites really hit the spot especially since we were all so hungry after the ceremony. Their actual wedding ceremony was in a different location, but I imagine you can have your ceremony and reception at Bell's if you wanted. The dinner was served buffet style, and we were led up to the food table by table. The food was really hot and was delicious, and people at my table raved about the broccoli stuffed chicken. After the speeches, dinner, and drinks, it was time to dance. The staff quickly moved all the food away and opened up the dance floor. Everything was done very efficiently. Toward the end of the wedding, we all went outside to do a sparkler send off. It felt like we were only outside for 10 minutes, but when we came back the whole venue was torn down. I was so impressed. They really did a great job. My cousin, aunt, and uncle all said that Ian was a pleasure to work with. They were so stressed out about how terrible the ceremony venue was to work with (a nearby winery), and were so happy and thankful for Ian and his crew at Bell's. They recommended it to everyone at the wedding, and all of the guests clearly had a great time. I don't know any pricing info, but from a guest's perspective, it was a beautiful venue and everything ran smoothly.

We arrived on a Sunday around 4PM, there was hardly anyone in the dining area so I was surprised when the bartender had to check the reservation book before seating us. Luckily, we were seated in the bar area right away. As time progressed, I realized why a reservation was so important. The restaurant got very busy, very quickly. Make reservations! There is a bar area, indoor dining, and an outdoor patio. My friend and I both had parmesan dishes, she had chicken parmesan which was a huge portion and I had the eggplant parmesan which I hoped to be a little bigger of a portion, at least the size as my friend's chicken parmesan. No salads or soups were included with the entrees, which would be a nice touch, especially for the price point ($20+) The bread that was served was amazing, and paired with peppers. I wish we would have had more, the two of us were given two slices and the heel of the loaf which we shared between the two of us. To go, I ordered the spicy pepper linguini with homemade Italian sausage, my husband said it was great and the portion was giant ($22) Would definitely come back again for the food. The venue is also pretty awesome, surrounded by antiques and a house with many stories.

They also have a wonderful stock of take out food like soups, salads, frozen pasta, etc. From about September to May, they hVe focaccia and pasta making classes as well. During the Lenten season, they are known for their fish sandwiches. The sandwich alone is so big that it can easily be shared with 1 or 2 friends. They have a large array of sauces to go along with the sandwich. My favorite includes the homemade tartar sauce and hot onion. I've never tasted anything like the hot onion sauce, and it's so good! The fish is big but not greasy, and they use very high quality fish. You can get Mac n'cheese, slaw, or fries on the side. Their lenten menu is filled with other options, but don't miss out on the fish sandwich! I'm planning on taking one of their classes, and I'm looking forward to trying more food on the menu!

The hardest part was actually finding your way out, and we did this during the day, I have a hunch that the real fun is at night. They have flashlights for rent, and on top of finding the stamps, I think it gets pretty spooky in there. The kids were loving the haunted hayrides during the daylight though, so they seemed to have found a good balance between frightening and fun. They had little fair games, pumpkins for carving and your typical concessions-the corn sling shot was the best...and we were lucky enough to be there for a zombie flash mob done by what must have been an all ages dance class, very cute. Not a lot for the adults to do/look at while the kids are running around except sit by the fire pit and sip cider, but there are worse things!
