I grew up in the 90's when Westlake used to be the place to hang out. There were actual shops and kiosks and the food court was like a Stranger Things 80's vibe with Sbarro's and McDonald's. It really felt family friendly and the candy shop upstairs next to the monorail was packed. I remember wanting to hang out on all levels of this mall and there was Crabtree and Evelyn, B Dalton books, and so many options. I even got my ears pierced here 3 x at Claire's. The wing that connect to Subway and Taco Del Mar was also a hang out spot and it was fun to have a Seattle home base to chill. Westlake was next to Macy's, and Gap was cool back then. I didn't shop there but remember the scent of Heaven and the super perfumy scents of the 90's and Tommy Hillfiger and Nautica jackets that I wore. Jay Jacob's was the spot for Tolo and Winter formal wear and Frederick's and Nelson's felt so bougie but special. I could even get all of my specialty 90's Timberland boots. Over the decades, Westlake reminded me of a mall that was taken over by a post apocalyptic crisis. Shops were empty, the decent ones that made malls cool left such as Foot Locker, and random swap meet looking stores and other junky stores popped up. There isn't the same feel and it feels like a random hodgepodge of leftovers. I remember when Lush was in the mall and the whiff of the essential oils made things feel festive during the holidays. With so many stores and shops having to leave, Westlake is still a shell of its former felt. Who knows what it will look like in the next 10 years. If you're from out of town, I would suggest skipping Westlake. Go to Chop House Row, Melrose Market for indie and local and SouthCenter or Bellevue Square for the all American mall experience. read more

Combination of outdated indoor shopping mall with a transit center. The actual mall only has the monorail on the top floor as a connection, but the Westlake Center station for the 1 line is below ground beneath, and all the major bus lines from across the county end up in the area. So it's an excellent place to connect, even during non-mall hours. Came here before mall opening at 10am, and was able to find a side entrance that takes you only to the 3rd floor where you can start your ride on the mono-rail. read more

I love a good mall and this was not it. It was a shell of a shopping center, as most of the stores were closed or had for rent information. The high light of this mall is the monorail connection on the third floor that will take you to the Space Needle. read more

I remember when Westlake Center was somewhat of a new mall or at least it was once the most happening mall in the area. Granted this was many years ago and the downtown situation has changed. It's not the fault of Westlake Center but the area just isn't that conducive for people to visit and therefore there's not too many stores and eateries left. The ones that are there are pretty good though and I do enjoy visiting. read more

The mall is great with great stores and a nice smaller size which I like. However my whole life it's always had a weird vibe to it that I can't quite put into words, almost like its empty and full at the same time, and there's constantly construction, renovations and changes. I've never been in here where every space/store was fully open and had people happily wandering around. Maybe thats because it is in an area thats always changing and people pass through here as for the metro station and don't really pay attention to the mall. Anyways its a great mall otherwise, clean, modern feeling, great location and access to transportation etc. but like I was trying to say, this mall and the surrounding area needs a little more love attention and is still figuring itself out. Let's admit it, the true reason anyone knows of Westlake Center is the monorail. One of only two stops made by the World Fair means of travel to show everyone Seattle's downtown and the ever famous Space Needle. The mall, itself offers three floors of mostly closed, dark shops. The remaining stores seem to lack the luster that attracts the masses. It's clean and a nice place to help keep you warm on a cold, winter walk, or help when you need a moment to escape from the heat or rays of the sun. A food court on the top floor, where the monorail also boards and unloads is available, accessible from the inside as well as a staircase from outside, allowing others to skip the sad mall altogether. read more

Meh! For a place right smack in the middle of everything in downtown Seattle, this place is crappy. They are sort of picking it up with remodels and stuff. But still. It's massive. A lot of empty spots/ not that great stores. A food court: monorail station. Literally a very rundown looking tourist spot with Zara and Saks Off 5th inside. Pressed juice is there too. I stopped here after Nordstrom pickups recently. But really. Nothing you'd miss. They should just put this on the list of many tear downs in Seattle and rebuilt it. Shopping in Downtown! A great multi level shopping center in the downtown area with a movie theater. Clean and modern environment to get your shopping groove on that is just a few minutes walk to get chowder when you are done. I prefer outdoor shopping centers but understand that not all cities enjoy the stable weather we have in Southern California. On the contrary, this indoor shopping center provided warmth for us in the low 40 degree temps of Seattle. AOK in my book! read more

The other day, I was walking around here with a good friend of mine who asked me, "If you had a $5,000 shopping spree here, where would you spend it at?" Honestly? Nothing really....well maybe Daiso but you probably don't need that much money to buy one of everything in the store. Oh and maybe Lush.....but seriously, Westlake is becoming a ghost town. The bottom floor is practically deserted now and I don't even set foot in the majority of the stores. The bathrooms are gross here. I thought they only had bathrooms near that pizza place on the top floor but I recently discovered cleaner bathrooms behind McDonalds. I really hope that this place gets some new stores or restaurants in place soon. It's really sad to see how downhill Westlake has become. read more

Westlake center is a good place to pop into if you're just hanging around Westlake area and are in the mood to browse. With stores like Zara, Nordstrom Rack, Daiso, Lush, Fuego, there are a lot of things to see and knick knacks to browse. I've been here a few times to buy quick things at the Daiso or grab a juice from Pressed Juicery. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here if I am in a full blown shopping mood but when I'm in the area like to stop by. read more

Parking in the garage here is a nightmare. We came here with our two kids to enjoy the things in the park and last minute Xmas shopping. We parked in the garage for convenience despite the cost. We ate an early dinner across the street and then tried to return to our car and the mall was closed early and there was NO way to get back to the garage except walk the ramps with our small kids. So unsafe. I question whether this actually is lawful. Then we paid at the machine and by the time we'd loaded ourselves in the car and made it to the exit, it decided we had taken too long by two minutes and charged us another $7, on top of the already exorbitant parking. The Westlake Center has gone through many evolutions since it first opened. I remember its heydays with the food court on the top floor and the typical mall open floor plan with the typical mall stores. The current incarnation was owed to two major factor, Nordstrom Rack moved into the basement and Zara opened its Seattle anchor store, occupying much of first and second floor. Later, Saks-off-5th also moved into the top floor, occupying a dramatic amount of retail space, displacing the food court entirely. In theory, it's goodness that the mall attracted these three major anchors. In execution, the need to curve space out to accommodate them means the mall became a misshaped layout, with normal retail on seemingly half the building. It's weird. The food court, which once upon a time my younger self on a limited budget, was one of my go-to places to eat in downtown. How teenagers and young adults hangout in this town is beyond me. Now you get to buy a $6 matcha ice cream cone on the top floor or $16 per lb candy on the ground floor via Lolli and Pops. Don't worry; they are hoping you can't do math advertising $4 per 1/4 lb. Well, I come here to try my luck at Nordstrom Rack or score cute things at Daiso for $1.50. Guess I should admit I'm a regular for the $6 matcha ice cream, too. For a good size mall, sadly, there's not much else for me. read more

If it is not broke, don't fix it. This mall was so much better before the remodel. Honestly, they have a done a disservice to the citizens of Downtown Seattle. They totally screwed all of their tenants and anyone that shopped here. They closed the entire 3rd floor food court, and shops. They put all of those Mom and Pop businesses out of business. They ended the jobs of all of those workers. All so they could have a retail tenant on the 3rd floor. What they have replaced the food court is a joke. And then they did not reopen for almost three years. Total disregard for their tenants, the workers, the shoppers, the citizens of Seattle. Horrible business practices. read more

Pretty confused about this place since... its a mall?? There like 19 stores (according to the website). Not much to see as its small shops. There is a LUSH if you're into that. There is Daiso for your small needs. Zara and Nordstrom Rack for all your clothing finds. And a Pandora if you're in need of some jewelry. Everything else is just small shops. Food court is not good and just really creepy. We tried a pizza place there and meh, it was cold pizza for $4. I would skip this mall and just not come here. A lovely shopping centre but not wheelchair accessible or family friendly. Shame on you in 2023 not putting in ramps or elevators to access all areas. We needed to get to the link light rail and had to call security who took 10 minutes to let us use one of the wheelchair lifts. We had a stroller with our 4 month old baby and were told that technically we weren't allowed to use this lift as it's only for wheelchairs. They did however allow us but in todays age it should just be more inclusive for everyone. read more

There is no food court anymore they are in the middle of a renovation. The place does not look like it did when I was last there the open ring floor plan is gone .You use to be able to look from the bottem , yes that is alot of useful floor there once filled in.... Anyway alot of stores are moved around or gone. It is still a good place do to the monorail stopping there . The security there is a joke the courtyard out front is blocked with building crap the deck is also blocked up there area a couple ok stores there but did not go in because of alot of the area being blocked or worked on. read more

Another retail tower in downtown Seattle that has seen better days. They used to have several retailers that I enjoyed visiting, but overall, I've never wanted to 'go shopping' like I have in any other city. Seattle is just not a place for buyers. It seems it is more a place for sellers, which is great for them. They removed the food court here on the top floor, probably because they could not compete with the wide variety in the surrounding area. A new eating location is going in on a floor below where the old one was, but it is too early to tell if it will even be worth the climb of this tower. At the top of Westlake Center is the entrance to the monorail, so if you have time and money to burn, get to the top here and take the iconic trip to the Space Needle. You can also just enjoy the city and walk there in a similar amount of time. Your choice. read more

Located in the heart of downtown Seattle. Westlake Center is a four-story, glass enclosed retail pavilion offering a mix of national reputation retailers and a unique selection of the finest quality regional merchandise. Including DAISO (Japanese $1.50 store concept) Although the store and selection is smaller, it's still worth a visit. The mall is kept nice and is attractive for visitors. It has a food court on the third floor with plenty of seating and a nice variety of food services. If you sit by the windows you can get good views of downtown. A big plus is that you can catch the bus monorail to Seattle Center from there. On the lower levels there is a shopping mall. Also Westlake is a central area from which one can also go just a short distance to the Seattle Convention Center or in the other direction just a few blocks to Pike Place Market. It was enjoyable spending time there and walking distance to many large department stores and boutiques on the cross streets. On your way out, climb on a Duck for a very unique land and water tour of Seattle. Every year Santa comes to Westlake Center. They have a massive Christmas tree that gets lit the day after Thanksgiving. They also have a huge star on the top of Macy's and they even set off fireworks. It was a spectacular event and one I plan on making a tradition. Also, right across the road in Westlake Park is where they set up the Christmas carousel the day after Thanksgiving. The neighborhood has some interesting characters, so do be mindful of your surroundings. Many homeless people hang out by Westlake Center and across the street at a public plaza. Some panhandle, but most interact only with each other. I like buskers and anyone doing SOMETHING to earn some money. The best thing about Westlake is that there's no cost to wander about the mall, especially good on a rainy day. When you've had too much shopping, they have a nice Starbucks waiting to serve favorite drink. Westlake Center may be no Mall of America. What it is is a decent downtown mall to grab a fast food meal, Starbucks, and monorail ride to Seattle Center. We patronized Westlake Center last week when we dined in P.F. Changs and when we rode the Seattle Monorail. I saw a mall with advantages and disadvantages. The major disadvantage is that it is being refurbished. Construction walls share the public spaces with the storefronts. As this construction takes place, the interior and exterior facing Pine Street is blah. Another disadvantage is that there is a long line to use the one restroom on the third floor. Westlake Center has some advantages. It is home to one of the two Seattle monorail stations. When your wallet needs a break from high priced restaurants, the level-3 food court offers a nice selection of eateries. They include McDonald's, Charlie's Grilled Subs, Sbarro, Thai Go, and Yummy Crepe. The refurbishment will create a modern mall. So far it has resulted in a new P.F. Changs. And Westlake Center has a Starbucks. I would not suggest driving onto the downtown just for Westlake Center. Chances are that if you are staying in downtown that you will step inside Westlake Center to board the Seattle Monorail or grab an inexpensive meal in the food court. read more

Very great area. Take westlake station to get there you can get clothes and maybe food. Go there to take the monorail to seattle center/ space needle. I personally reccomend cali burger on the 2nd floor. I personally think that Candy Tyme ( Candy Tyme not Candy Time) is a cool store but kinda overpriced. Go to wild tiger pizza too. Very great area. I believe you get a 10% Discount if you have a monorail ticket so yeah nice mall. I would reccomend westlake park (4th Ave and Pine St) it is just outside the mall and is fun (espescially during winter) read more

Westlake Center is the main shopping center (whew, that was hard since I'm Canadian) in Downtown Seattle. It is connected via the Westlake Link Station, as well as the monorail to the Seattle Center. There really was nothing that stood out in this mall aside from Daiso. Despite what looks like a large mall from the outside, it's actually very small on the inside, not even 100 stores. It also had a rather confusing layout, especially if you're going to the Link station or the monorail. For the flagship downtown mall, I sorta expected better from this place (I didn't see the reviews before I went). The outside of this mall, however, looks quite nice. The sidewalks and roads are designed with a permeable pavement surface, which is a lot better for the environment than asphalt/concrete. There was also a nice pattern with the surface as well. This mall really sucks. Very high vacancy rate and what stores they do have aren't very impressive. If you're looking to actually buy anything, go to any other mall where you can actually get a collection of shops to choose from instead of a collection of empty spaces that are supposed to be shops but aren't. The best thing about this mall is the food court which is, well... a mall food court. Don't waste your time with this one. read more

I use them as parking lot and they know many people does the same because of it's convenient location. But it is not that great parking. Spots are very narrow and turns are sharp at least on the first floor. Getting the right elevator can be complicating too. But the reason of this particular review is my last visit which was just moments ago. Machines are always breaking and today wasn't the exception. So we had to go to another floor to pay the ticket with cash. That machine started breaking and threw two tickets as if ours was paid. Obviously it took the money! When inserting the ticket while getting out, mysteriously a staff man appeared and looked we were having trouble with this machine too. Instead of believing or at least checking our previous experience, he went like: "you have to pay". I got super mad but hubby just wanted to get out asap. Paid again the whole fair. I mean it is not fair we, as customers, have to pay for their lack of tools!! read more

Your typical downtown mall... although a bit on the smaller side. What makes it a bad experience is that the underground parking has only 1 small elevator for the whole building. There was huge lines to get on the elevator. We tried to to take the stairs and they closed it off from the B level garage after some renovations.... There was no other way out. It seems like it would violate some firecode.... unless they expect you to walk up the ramp (like we did) that is not visible, not common sense, and no signs were posted. read more

Westlake center is an interesting little shopping center that serves an equally interesting crowd. Not too many stores that would interest me but I guess it is connected to the monorail. They have a nice crepe/dessert place that makes some decent food, but other than that it doesn't interest me too much. Kind of reminds me of this shabby little "mall" at the end of Navy Pier in Chicago which by far was the worst shopping I've ever found in Chicago. Where I'm from malls don't really look like this... I mean this shopping center is a wee bit small to me. I'm used to malls that have 100s of stores. But this mall does have the basics and the necessities. The mall does have a huge food court, which impressed me. There is the monorail that leads to the Space Needle. I can't say too much about this shopping center. If you're visiting Seattle the only reason you would want to come here is if you need to go to the monorail to get to the Space Needle. read more
