Stores have come and gone at the Wallingford Center, former school now retail and food destination for 35 years. Ahhh the UW college days... Worthy of an occasional visit with its a convenient ATM, customer parking lot, and located on a major Metro bus route. My recent visit yesterday included Crackerjack Contemporary Crafts and Trophy (6/23/18). I have stopped in also to Yazdi to browse and to dine at Chutney's. A sweet, quaint and cozy center with a handful of boutique shops. The building is reminiscent of an old schoolhouse, converted to host shops and a cafe, restaurant downstairs. It's quiet and cozy and seems that the shops are quite specialized, many items feeling more like small gifts you may wish to give rather than items one would purchase and keep in their own possessions. Shop staff were friendly and greeted us warmly as we peruses their specialty selections. read more

This is a cute little shopping center, indoors of course, located in the heart of Wallingford which sometimes hold their weekly Farmer's Market. There are a good selection of stores of all types inside, although I do agree with he previous reviewer that there isn't exactly normal food in this plaza. They hold the famed Trophy Cupcakes which are to die for ... sort of anyway and they're extremely creative as well. The area and the whole center reminds me of just a large mansion somebody somehow bored out to make shops inside, none of which really have doors so it's kind of an interesting, very open concept. I like the fact that they have parking so definitely +1 for that as parking in Seattle is otherwise extremely painful. read more

***This shopping center has a really cool look; it is located in an old schoolhouse; they have some small shops and even a few food options inside like an upscale cupcake spot (they also have a good number of businesses that cater towards children with even children seating and play area options); given the size of the schoolhouse from the outside, I was surprised by the limited number of retailers inside; they could probably do more with the space, but they need more businesses to setup shop here; a lot of the space is dedicated to the cupcake shop, which has a dining area that is the size of a small neighborhood cafe*** I believe this shopping complex has its own free parking lot. Free street parking is also available. read more

The Wallingford Center is very reminiscent of an old Mall type building in Humboldt California from the re-polished and varnished wooden floors, warm exposed brick interior walls and down to the sweet maple syrup and old book aroma I always pick-up for some reason. The outside facade is old architecture, but with a nice new paint and awning face-lift that rejuvenates the entire building. Wallingford Center doesn't bother with hiding the fact that it caters to women. There's a few boutiques, furniture store, hair salon for the little ones and sugar (Trophy Cupcakes) for those hips. read more

I love recycling. And I really like it when old buildings are reused and rethought---so they could live another life. Built in 1904 as the Interlake Elementary School, this building has went from growing minds, to housing people (cool high-ceiling apartments are upstairs), offering cool stores, and serving as a cool landmark for the Wallingford neighborhood. Visited Wallingford for their awesome Farmers Market during the week. Fresh, organic fruit and homemade pasta. Everyone was friendly and all the items were grown locally. No E-Coli there! Most vendors are friendly and outgoing and knowledgable about what they are selling. Will be coming here again. read more

Revamping these old buildings is great. I'm not sure what else occurs here besides girls entering and squeeing for cupcakes from Trophy, but I'm sure other things do. Great hardwood floors and high ceilings almost makes you want to whisper when walking down the halls here for fear of nuns coming out of a classroom and attacking with rulers. The nuns, if they were ever here, are now gone and have been replaced with merchandising. Also to be noted is that there is a farmers market here on Wednesdays May through September and from 3 to 7pm. read more

WC is underrated. Yes, Trophy is the pretty princess of the other merchants, and yes, you need a code to get in the bathroom--but you still have Pharmaca, an "integrative pharmacy" with a holistic and/or homeopathic approach (helpful and informed employees) and Yazdi, an eclectic and affordable women's boutique with contemporary and classic fashion, many clothes made with all-natural fibers and in the USA. Check out Zanadia for your home furnishings, as well. Update: I forgot to mention the Farmer's Market. Every Wednesday from 3-7pm (May-September), you've a fine selection of Washington-grown produce, fresh pasta, baked goods and Patty Pan's tamales (delish). read more

I recently went for the first time and loved the schoolhouse turned into a shopping mall thing. That being said, there are quite a few vacancies in the mall. Sad. But so true everywhere you go. Here's what you can do at the Wallingford Center: 1) Come here for the indian buffet in the basement level. 2) Browse naturopathic goods at the pharmacy. With a complimentary cup of tea. 3) Doodle on the chalkboard outside of the pharmacy. 4) Admire Seattle Public School archived photos of the school and its children. 5) Fawn over adorable old-school, kid-sized desk/chair. But not sit in em. 6) Check out the store with hand-made goods from all over the world.. Nepal, Vietnam, Africa, etc. Oh, and then there's Trophy Cupcakes. It's kinda hard to miss. read more

As others have mentioned, this is a really cute indoor center with a few boutiques shops and places to eat as well as the home of the Wallingford Farmer's Market where you can get fresh, organic, and locally grown fruits, veggies, pasta, etc. Although I'm personally not a huge fan, it's also the home of one of Seattle's Trophy Cupcake locations which can make it worth your while. Parking is easy as there's street parking as well as a private lot. read more

I have always liked Pharmica, the staff are always knowledgeable friendly and helpful! And today was no different! I went in to use a $10 coupon I got from being a part of their rewards program, I bought one of the glass water bottles and some zinc. After the lady at the cash register rang me in and did my $10 off I realized I grabbed the wrong water bottle. She refunded me the price of the water bottle, which ended up being more than I originally paid for both items, I was confused because while I wanted to make sure that when they re-rang the new water bottle that I was still getting the $10 off, but I was more concerned that they were crediting me back too much. The manager came over, to help sort out my confusion and ended up giving me an additional $10 off, when I explained that I wasn't trying to not pay what I was supposed to she just said very kindly said "I know, I am the manager and am providing you customer service." I started to cry because of their kindness and unbeknownst to them I had received some very upsetting personal news the day before, they were so sweet and I cannot thank them enough. They are two examples of how great customer service and some human understanding can mean the world to someone they don't even know! Thank you thank you thank you! read more

Big thumbs up for the face lift. Last time I ventured inside the wood floors felt soggy and the space was depressingly bleak. Now? Nice! Fresh! But what's the story? Where do you actually *shop* here? Are new shops about to burst onto the scene? I like the idea of a green pharmacy. That could be the anchor. Maybe a non-swooshy-gauzy clothing shop would add a little edge. Maybe, what, on the ground floor an outpost of Daiso http://www.daiso-sangyo.co.jp/english/ where the whole family can browse for 30 minutes and come away with something fun and a couple of great stories to fuel their stop at the cupcake shop or the sandwich shop (this place needs a sandwich shop, and I'm not talking about Subway). What ever became of the wonderful gardening shop on the ground floor? I think any shop that features nag champa should be, flat out, banned. read more

The art and craft shops are so adorable!! This is such a unique shopping area in a quaint neighborhood. If you're hungry, there's an adorable cupcake store for some sweets. They were so nice to let a young mother eat her home packed meal after buying a cupcake for dessert! There's also a clean bathroom downstairs but you need a code from merchants to access. They come with toilet seat covers!! read more

I've always loved this neighborhood - I used to come here back in the Wingdome era! yikes that was a long time ago... but this place has really gotten some solid shops in here. this isn't about the center directly, but more in regards to their policy on restrooms. apparently they've had a problem in the past with sketchy individuals using their restrooms for ill means and purposes. i am sad for those people, because they cause sadness in the land of my ass when i need to drop the kids off at the pool in an immediate fashion. there's a passcode to get into the bathroom, so you need to patronize (hahaha, i mean buy something) from one on the fine establishments in wallingford center. but when you gotta use the can, the last thing you want to do is stand in line for a cupcake. thank goodness for friendly people. miss, you saved us all from a rather unpleasant afternoon. read more

Had a blast!! My SIL, brother, and niece gave me a gift certificate to this place. Looked it up online and it has some very interesting stores. Made a date with my hubby to go shopping and spend the day up in Seattle. We stopped by this Center and its wonderful! The shops are fun and have so many exciting things to look at! Ended up purchasing from two different stores. Wish I would have had a little more money and probably would have bought a yummy looking cupcake from the little bakery there too. This small shopping center has some great shops and looks really classy. However, they made one major mistake in their design. While they did a great job making it look nice and they have a large parking lot, which is hard to find in Seattle they completely forgot bike racks. In the middle of Seattle which is one of the most bike friendly cities, and in Wallingford where tons of people bike....they did not include one bike rack. This is absolutely ridiculous as I know a lot of people bike in the area- especially since I passed a good 8 people biking, WHILE personally biking there. I asked one of the workers in Pharmaca who said they had asked the owners of Wallingford center personally to add bike racks, only to be completely ignored. If you want me to lock my bike to your fancy railing, that's fine. But I'm highly disappointed when a place in Seattle doesn't offer a couple bike racks. read more

This is a cute little shopping center with boutique type shops. Staff are smiling and friendly. The cupcake shop look amazing and if we hadn't already eaten we definitely would have tried a few. Downstairs there is an Indian restaurant with an all organic buffet. I'll be back to try that out. I think there is also a small preschool and art boutique as well. I don't really see myself shopping in any of the shops, but I'll be back to try the Indian food and a cupcake. read more

Trophy Cupcakes is where its at!!! There really isnt anything else that I would go to the Wallingford center for. It is in a great location and located around plenty of good restaurants. There is ample parking because they have their own lot dedicated to patrons of the Wallingford Center. Great place to grab a bite and get a coffee. read more

This place is a gold mine! We came for Trophy Cupcakes and discovered an assortment of craft stores, handmade goody boutiques, and an all-you-can-eat Indian restaurant. I can't wait to go back to explore! read more
