This has and always will be my go to hardware store. Every time I have walked in looking for help, I have found multiple people who have been more than helpful, courteous and kind. My daughter and I decided to walk to the plaza instead of driving down. I have gone into the store many times before. The staff have always been overly helpful, and I now realize it's not so much to be of assistance, but to monitor you in their store. However, today my daughter and I went in each carrying a bag with some groceries. Since we had walked we had to bring the bags into the store. The clerk quickly approached my 13yr old daughter in front of me and requested she give him her items that were PURCHASED by her. I was kind of shocked, and insulted at the same time. I told the other store clerk who was passing us that my daughter had no intention of stealing their hardware. She than told me that the clerk should've taken my belongings as well. I decided instead of handing over my bags, which contained my cell phone, credit cards, cash and food from my previous purchase, it would be best if my daughter and I left the store instead. We than had to stand there, embarrassed and insulted, and wait until they finished checking out another customer to retrieve my daughter's bag. I work hard for my money and buy what I need, not steal. I have never felt more uncomfortable in a store like I did in that moment, my daughter was also on the verge of tears because she felt so embarrassed being picked out like that. If they can't trust us shopping at their store, why should I be trusting them with my food and personal belongings? That can go both ways. I was recently shopping with a rather overzealous pair of store clerks, they split up and followed my husband and I throughout the store. We were looking to purchase some plumbing and hardware supplies. We are in our fifties and walk to many of the shops in our neighbourhood, and I make use of a backpack rather than a purse when I walk in order to carry items home AFTER purchase. No word of a lie, the sales clerk was never more than 12 inches from me making her shoplifting prevention far from discreet, she had the items I was going to purchase in her hand and then proceeded to let me know that I needed to leave my pack at the front. Not sure how I was going to remove my pack, take the items from her hand and put them in my pack without her seeing. Yipes. I was there to purchase with cash, several items, but my experience was so uncomfortable that my husband and i left purchasing nothing. I also asked about carrying a large shoulder bag, purse or tote, but would told they had no problem with those only my backpack, That was secured on my back and zipped close. A shoulder bag would pose a much bigger risk for shoplifting should one be inclined. Very poor sales/customer service from poorly trained staff. And a real feeling of being treated with distrust and disrespect even though my husband and I are regular customers at that store and have never caused any reason to be treated that way. I will never shop there again, and make sure to let anyone I know that it is not a respectful, neighbourhood store. Go elsewhere. read more
