Visited Guelph this past weekend for a friends wedding and was suggested to come here to Len's Mill Store for fabrics. We came on the Sunday before we left, and the store didn't open until 11:00am, but there were already door crashers waiting to go inside. I had been to a Len's Mill store previously when I had lived in London, and it was alright, nothing too special. It's more of a big warehouse looking store and sells a bit of everything. While my mom was looking through the fabrics, I ended up walking around, they had a bunch of clothing items, craft supplies, bedding, kitchen and bathroom decor. They had a lot of snacks at the cash register too. I ended up getting some pretzel snacks and some candy. Overall, this store is a unique store with many different items. Although this store isn't the cleanest, or most organized, but you can certainly find some treasures. Unfortunately, we don't have a location in Windsor, maybe one day. read more

I got the idea from another Yelper, to visit a fabric store in every city you visit. I was in Guelph over the weekend visiting a friend and asked her if she would indulge me... It was a Sunday, so the only fabric store in the area that was open was Len's. As soon as we pulled up, she said "Haha, oh I have been here before. It's really something." I wasn't expecting to walk into a liquidator. Better still, I wasn't expecting this liquidator to have a huge variety of fabric. Like, HUGE. Most of it is cotton (100%!) but it was the variety of prints I was overwhelmed with. Basic patterns in many colours, seasonal prints, licensed prints... really cute stuff. Accessories were also a great price - I finally bought myself a cutting ruler because the price was about $10 less than Fabricland. I was offered a couple of discounts, too! One of the bolts I brought to the cutting table was almost done so I was offered a percentage off if I took the whole thing. We were also offered another discount at the checkouts if we sang a Christmas carol! I don't know if you can sing yourself to a deal every week, but it was good for a laugh and great customer service. As a liquidator, this store is very large and has just about everything you're looking for. I'm just more enthusiastic about it as a fabric store. I will definitely pop in any time I am in Guelph! read more

I used to shop here all the time for fabric and yarn. I refuse to do so now, and I'll tell you why. They put an ad out during the Christmas Season. It's a Christmas advertisement, and they had nice big letters proclaiming, merrily I might add, their CHRISTMAS SALE. It was a truly lovely sentiment, and this is not at all my complaint. Above the big beautiful Christmas Sale they had three forms of holiday address written: "Holiday Sale", "Season Sale", and "Festive Sale". And each of these were crossed out with an X. The point being, that people who shop at Len's Mill, must speak Christmas only. This said to me, if you don't celebrate Christmas, then you are not welcome. It said to me, if you use the terms Holiday, Season, or Festive in your winter holiday greeting, then you have no business at our sale. It was a slap in the face to those of us who choose to say Happy Holidays. We don't day Happy Holidays to stop people from saying Merry Christmas. We say it simply because we have our reasons not to say Christmas. We don't force others to do so. If someone says Merry Christmas, I may choose to say Merry Christmas back, or I may choose to say Happy Holidays in return. However, when I choose to wish first, for me, I always say Happy Holidays. It's what I do, because I am not Christian. To cross out what I say on their poster, crosses out the validity of how I choose to celebrate the holidays. Go ahead and say Christmas Sale on your poster. it's lovely. Go ahead and say Merry Christmas. But don't take the step to cut me out by putting what I say on your poster and cross it out. Until they change their ways, sadly, I will be joining the boycott of Len's Mill Stores. I will instead focus my shopping at other fine establishments who welcome people of all creeds, races, abilities, and affiliations. read more

I have been shopping at Lens in Guelph for 20 years. Compared to their stores in Cambridge & Port Dover, the Guelph store tends to be dirty & disorganized. They recently changed the location of their yarn & doing so have greatly lessened the variety of their yarn. Yesterday the shelves were half empty. It was a waste of my time considering it is a 45 minute drive for me to the store. This used to be my go-to place for yarn but in future I will be going elsewhere. read more

Living in Guelph after having three years in fashion school in TO, a decade-long cosplay hobby and boycotting Fabricland since 2013, oh MAN do I love this place! Craft-based sewers, quilters and drapery/upholstery-sewers will never go wanting for anything. TONS of cottons both print and plain, fleeces, flannels, drapery, upholstery,foam, notions and etc. available. Great place for cheap mockup fabrics too, and finishing off bolts gets you a 15% discount. I've met most of my fellow local nerds from this place, heck, many of them work here! I also love that they individually label prices of each fabric item cut, which when I'm doing things on commission for others, makes keeping track of prices WAY easier. Then add in the discount general store for the rest. Sure is nice when I can go fabric shopping and pick up hairpins, bread and a can opener in the same place. The merchandise, being sort of an overstock/liquidation place, is often a bit sketchy looking and sometimes just plain weird, but it's cheap, so, what did you expect :P. Never had any problems with stuff from there, at any rate. The only downside is that garment-wise, they're rather lacking in selections. The racks are often extremely messy so it's hard to do a proper search, formalwear fabrics are scarce (they're slowly bringing in more but still, small selection), and the garment items tend to be either "So hideous nobody would ever buy it" or "basic" with no in-between. I occasionally get lucky, but for a specific colour or fabric (being a cosplayer with very discriminating taste) I often wind up going to Toronto. However, when I'm making crafts to sell, as a major side business? BAM, NO FREAKING WAY CAN THIS GET BETTER. read more

I have been shopping in Lens Stores for many years and have had great service. I have bought buckets of wool for knitting and some material. Recently I had a very bad experience. I was buying material and had a gift card that I was given about 6 months ago from returning some unwanted and unused wool. I put it in my purse and never thought of it since. I was making a purchase and remembered the card so I decided to use it. After a search I found it and to my great surprise was told that there was no balance. Since I had not touched the card I am very sure that there should have been a balance I think in the neighbourhood of $15 - $25. The card was checked again and I was told that unless I had the paper copy of the Transaction that there was nothing I could do. As a point of interest the clerk was the same one who had issued me the credit months before. And NO i did not expect that I would be remembered.- just saying.... Unfortunately I had thrown out the copy - why keep it when I had the plastic card - and in any case we all know that by now the print on the receipt would have faded by now. I will ask for a different method of credit the next time I return anything My opinion of a great place to shop is just not quite the same now. Angie N. read more

Tons & tons of quilting fabric!!! I find the overall appearance of the place to look a little dirty/old, but if you need a large, I mean really large, selection of quilting fabric then this is the place! However, I dont think they have the most up to date Designer lines. read more
