As I was returning to my car, I could see it from a distance, someone had "keyed " scratch, the entire length of the driver's side of my vehicle. It was severe. Rule of thump: put water on a scratch on your auto finish, if the scratch disappears it can be buffed out. When I got home I ran the hose,wet the car, the scratch remained completely visible. As I'm new to Raleigh, and new to NC I didn't know who to call. I opened the Yelp app and contacted several repair shops based on reviews. They all responded promptly and gave a quote except one. The first one to respond didn't give me a quote, he set a time for the next day when he could come see it in person. The day Travis arrived a few minutes early and I was ready. He inspected the scratch and gave me a quote, best by several hundred $$ I was skeptical, I told Travis I was awaiting to hear from a couple more shops but I would let him know either way within a couple hours. I had a good feeling about Travis so even though his very much lower price gave me a "too good to be true" vibe, I needed my car fixed so I texted Travis. We set a time for two days later as I had to work around my schedule. Travis' two helpers arrived early, before Travis. They explained they would prep the car and could start immediately. I left them to get started as I had a project had had to attend. When I looked outside maybe 20 mins later Travis was there his truck unloaded, equipment set up. All three seemed very busy. What they had to do to get that scratch out was unreal. The scratch wasn't just to the metal, the metal was scratched as well. It was a lot of work many steps in the process and it took some time. As they neared completion of the project, one of the guys found me in my backyard and filled me in. I started towards my car, already close enough where the scratch was previously visible, I saw shiny pint. I continued to close the distance, scrutinizing with increased intensity. I was at the car, scanning the previously damaged area with my eyes. I saw no sign of any damage, no residual of the scratch whatsoever. My nightmare was over, Travis and his guys made my car look like brand new. I can once again drive my car with pride. After the car had been at their location for over 2 weeks, I was informed that the repair work had not even started. The manager on duty was not helpful, with a "Tough luck" attitude, and blaming "supply line issues". I contacted their national help desk and was assured that their North Carolina- based management team would contact the location, and I received a phone message later that day from the local duty manager that " since (they) could not meet my needs" I should take the car to another business. Not only did they not do the work in a timely manner as was expected by me and my insurance provider, they refused to make good and complete the work.

Caliber managed to buff and polish the scratches on our bumper so that no one except us could see the damage. Cost = ZERO. I was seriously impressed. So, in early 2017, we were hit in a parking lot by a 91 year old driving a Cadillac. I told my insurance company I wanted to bring the car to Caliber, and happily, they were an approved repair shop. The car was in the shop the next day, fixed within two weeks - including them buffing and polishing damage on the other side of the car that was unrelated to this claim. Again cost was ZERO. These people are efficient, do great work, keep in touch throughout the process and have Enterprise rent a car onsite. Our cars will never go anywhere else if we need body work.

My concerns were with several provisions, including: * Language stating, they are not responsible for damage to the vehicle while in their possession * The Power of Attorney provision allowing them to endorse insurance checks on my behalf * A waiver of written estimate * Broad authorization to access vehicle data beyond what is necessary for repairs (I was not involved in an accident) * Electronic signature and communication consent terms (Stated it was optional) I was seeking clarity and reasonable adjustments around certain provisions, particularly related to transparency and customer protections. Unfortunately, there did not seem to be much flexibility or willingness to address those concerns. While I understand businesses have standard policies, I do to and I believe customers should have transparency when it comes to the amount of money involved in making repairs, especially when it comes to customer rights and repair agreements. I respect their decision just as I expect mine to be respected.

I would not use this mechanic again. I originally used a mobile mechanic thinking I could save some…read moremoney, but after this experience I would rather spend the extra money and take my car to an established shop. I paid him $150 to install a replacement throttle body on my 2009 Dodge Caliber on June 11th. After the installation, my car was fluttering while idling and continued doing that until June 17th, when the car shut off. I couldn't even drive it one mile. Around that time, while I was already dealing with the problems with my car, he started making advances toward me. He asked me if I wanted a "sugar daddy," repeatedly told me I was a "good woman," and during a test drive asked me if I wanted to spend more time with him. He also talked to me about having a wife and twin children, which made the advances even more inappropriate to me. I turned him down. I asked him how he relearned the throttle body with the computer and didn't get an answer. Before he came back to work on my car again, I specifically asked him to bring the computer/programmer, and he said okay. When he came back, I asked about it and that was when he told me he didn't have the equipment and said it cost around $5,000. I would have liked to know that before paying him to install the throttle body. I also paid him another $125 to install an IMRC actuator. The next day my car was scanned again and P2004, Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open, was still showing. I later asked him to make sure the actuator he installed was working before I bought more parts, but I never received confirmation that it was. My issue is twofold. I had problems with the work I paid for, and at the same time I was dealing with unwanted advances from the person I hired to work on my car. I can't say whether my turning him down had anything to do with what happened afterward, but given the timing, it is something I have questioned. Before I pay anyone for a service, I always look at the reviews first. That's one of the reasons I'm leaving this review. Other customers, especially women, should know about the experience I had before deciding whether to hire him. After everything that happened, I question whether he is selective about who he behaves this way toward. For women especially, I would think twice about using a mobile mechanic just to save money. If you do decide to use one, use a credit card or another payment method that gives you clear purchase protection and a way to dispute the charge if something goes wrong. Women should be able to hire someone to work on their vehicle without having to deal with unwanted advances while trying to conduct business. Based on my experience, I would rather spend the extra money and go to an established repair shop where there is more accountability and professionalism.
