We have AC and he was hot from the car ride even with AC in the car. This was not our fault and he implied we were the reason our dog got hot. I asked him if our dog seemed distended in his abdomen. He said "you don't even have to feel him he's too big." My dog was born with hypothyroidism and we didn't know so he kept growing and growing and then it was too late. It's not our fault. Even though he implied it was. My dog has physical therapy every week and regular blood work and exams. The accusations he implied, were not only far from truth, but completely rude. We drove 30 minutes to get to this clinic because they had the best opening for us time wise. If I knew he would be so awful I would have waited. The phone call my mother took from him regarding lab results, he mentioned my dogs weight 3 times. And accused us of not giving him his thyroid medication. We assured him he takes half tab AM and PM as prescribed. He said "that won't do anything for a dog as big as yours." We left almost in tears and my mom almost crying on the phone. He was judgmental, accusatory, mean, and plane rude. If I knew we would be treated like this I would have waited for Dr. Rogers to have a schedule opening because she is my favorite and non judgmental. The reason I only give 2 stars instead of one is because the assistant Amanda was absolutely amazing! She didn't judge us, was very good with our dog, and took time to listen to our concerns. The second we walked in we were greeted by her and she was amazing! So if you see this Amanda know how much your kindness meant to us and our dog!

I've been going to Dr. Clayton for years. I foster, dog sit and have three dogs of my own. So…read morelong as the care you need is relatively simple and your animals are healthy, the office seemed great. However, when the time came that I had two very sick pets, I had a horrible experience with the care, diagnosis and customer service at this office. I will never recommend somebody go there again. I took my dog, Sherman, in Monday morning, as I knew something was seriously wrong. Sadly, they misdiagnosed him and sent Sherman home with Pepcid; but offered to keep him for observation. Given that they had just evaluated Sherman, I didn't feel it was in his best interest because he would not be able to get decent rest while they "observe" him in between appointments. They already knew he had been vomiting and not eating. Two days later, Wednesday, nothing had changed, and Sherman was considerably more ill and with a fever. I brought him in, they took his temperature, did a blood draw and offered to keep him to "observe" again. They had no explanation of what they would do differently other than wait for the blood panel to come back. I knew lying in a cage at the vet office would only cause him additional anxiety when he was already very sick. By Thursday, my other dog, Maisie, started falling ill. The Clayton vet could not fit me in until Friday later in the morning. I called earlier that Friday and spoke with a technician, to try and understand what they were going to do differently. Suddenly, Dr Anne Clayton came on the phone and started berating me. After remaining silent while she went on a rant for 2 1/2 minutes, she ended the call by telling me to go to another vet. There I was on a Friday morning, now with two very sick dogs, looking for a new vet. Thank God for All Star Veterinary in Westfield! Absolutely amazing! They fit us in immediately, repeated the appropriate bloodwork and started my dogs on the antibiotics they needed. It was dicey over over the weekend as I had to hydrate both dogs with a syringe until the antibiotics kicked in. My first dog had a much longer road of recovery given that he had gone so long before receiving proper care and medicine. After the weekend, I texted Clayton Vet to see if they would bare any responsibility for what had taken place. I understand that sometimes we have bad days or mistakes happen. Instead, he responded defensively, stating he listened to the recordings and that he was inactivating my account. I understand his desire to back the other veterinarians at that office. But he could've responded simply with, "We had a lot going on at the time. Sorry if things slipped... how are the dogs doing now?" After years of a business relationship, and sending them many new clients, it is disappointing to say the least. My dogs almost died as a result. Dr. Clayton told me that he had a recording of the call - I strongly encourage him to post that recording for others to decide for themselves. What's a shows an additional testament to their ignorance and customer service is how they continue to advertise on their Yelp page. They're actually using a picture of MY dogs, standing in MY front door to promote their business. See below.

Some techs have wrong billing information, some vets glazing over important information, assuming you can afford all recommendations, and despite multiple follow up visits, my pets aren't getting better. Their lifetime vaccine policy was excellent but is no longer offered to new patients. They handle the pets with care, even reactive ones. In Daisy's case, we had a yearly check up, nail clipping, heart worm test and two non-cancerous tumors tested. All good for my "80 yr. old" pup. Leo's Pet Care has two location in the Indianapolis/Carmel area. Make certain to check in on the Yelp app, they donate one pound of dog food to the Humane Society with each check in. At the first visit I felt like they were really trying to sell me several things we didn't necessarily need. Something was a little off the first visit but it wasn't terrible. We ended up having our pup neutered here and I was really wowed by this (second) visit. Our dog is very anxious and reactive, but thanks to the staff working this day he did fine on surgery day. Shout out to Kaity!!! Her calm and slow demeanor (he feels threatened by quick movements) made our pup feel very comfortable and safe. Kaity was very informative and I did not feel she was trying to sell us things, which was a stark difference from our first visit. I do think the prices are on the higher end but they are "carmel prices". The facility is very clean and nice so I do not mind paying a little extra.

Finally, the prime pet plan helps us to save money with my younger pup who often gets sick and needs care. I don't have to second guess myself anymore if it's worth going in and getting a bill because I know now that she'll be covered under the plan for visits.

Dr. Cable comes in with a very calm manner and loads of yummy dog treats: * peanut butter, which is smeared on a paper plate * wet dog food, also put on a paper plate * other good things my girls love/loved. Each had a slightly rough first meeting, as they hadn't met her, but once they got whiffs of things in the basket she brings in, well, they were in love. She's always aware of their moods and reactions and easily works to reassure them, which has been quite successful. The main issue I have has been getting one or the other through the waiting room, as both are/were very protective. The costs are a bit high, but I've joked with friends that I put money into a matching 401(k) at all my jobs mostly for my dogs' care. Even if I hadn't, I'd stick with Dr. Cable. The staff is also exceptional. They've gotten to know my dogs and have helped with getting them in the door and into an exam room. So appreciate that.
