I've been going to Dr. Clayton for years. I foster, dog sit and have three dogs of my own. So…read morelong as the care you need is relatively simple and your animals are healthy, the office seemed great. However, when the time came that I had two very sick pets, I had a horrible experience with the care, diagnosis and customer service at this office. I will never recommend somebody go there again. I took my dog, Sherman, in Monday morning, as I knew something was seriously wrong. Sadly, they misdiagnosed him and sent Sherman home with Pepcid; but offered to keep him for observation. Given that they had just evaluated Sherman, I didn't feel it was in his best interest because he would not be able to get decent rest while they "observe" him in between appointments. They already knew he had been vomiting and not eating. Two days later, Wednesday, nothing had changed, and Sherman was considerably more ill and with a fever. I brought him in, they took his temperature, did a blood draw and offered to keep him to "observe" again. They had no explanation of what they would do differently other than wait for the blood panel to come back. I knew lying in a cage at the vet office would only cause him additional anxiety when he was already very sick. By Thursday, my other dog, Maisie, started falling ill. The Clayton vet could not fit me in until Friday later in the morning. I called earlier that Friday and spoke with a technician, to try and understand what they were going to do differently. Suddenly, Dr Anne Clayton came on the phone and started berating me. After remaining silent while she went on a rant for 2 1/2 minutes, she ended the call by telling me to go to another vet. There I was on a Friday morning, now with two very sick dogs, looking for a new vet. Thank God for All Star Veterinary in Westfield! Absolutely amazing! They fit us in immediately, repeated the appropriate bloodwork and started my dogs on the antibiotics they needed. It was dicey over over the weekend as I had to hydrate both dogs with a syringe until the antibiotics kicked in. My first dog had a much longer road of recovery given that he had gone so long before receiving proper care and medicine. After the weekend, I texted Clayton Vet to see if they would bare any responsibility for what had taken place. I understand that sometimes we have bad days or mistakes happen. Instead, he responded defensively, stating he listened to the recordings and that he was inactivating my account. I understand his desire to back the other veterinarians at that office. But he could've responded simply with, "We had a lot going on at the time. Sorry if things slipped... how are the dogs doing now?" After years of a business relationship, and sending them many new clients, it is disappointing to say the least. My dogs almost died as a result. Dr. Clayton told me that he had a recording of the call - I strongly encourage him to post that recording for others to decide for themselves. What's a shows an additional testament to their ignorance and customer service is how they continue to advertise on their Yelp page. They're actually using a picture of MY dogs, standing in MY front door to promote their business. See below.

Even when I lived in Bloomington for a while, I still drove up to Carmel with my dogs (I live in downtown Indy now and the drive is 100% worth it). He is very knowledgeable in his field, keeps up with current research, and is the kind of vet I can trust implicitly. He gets to know you and your dogs, and he really partners with you in their care. He knows my philosophy on things like when to prioritize comfort over cure and what matters to me. I've spent many years adopting older special needs dogs, and he has been invaluable in their care. I've also seen Dr. Dana Graham at times with acute issues and she is so thorough with how she approaches complex medical issues and also really partners with me for making medical decisions about my dogs. We have also seen Dr. Dan Genatiempo for euthanasia and he was so calm and compassionate and just really made the whole experience exactly what it should be. All of the staff is great - the techs, the front desk, everyone. They know my dogs and are always caring and helpful and just in general great to work with - especially when you are in an emotional moment like significant health conditions and end of life. I never give my trust in healthcare providers easily, but this practice truly has my trust. They are so rare and wonderful.

Trigger warning: pet bereavement…read more We are newer to the area and had went to a vet on Springmill but I didn't care for his bedside manner towards my cat. Anyways, Lilly Vanilly (Lilly) was always food insecure. She was a dumpster kitty that was weaned way too soon. She became obese and had some health problems because of it. Last month she became constipated. She would strain and cry. We attempted all of the things. Pumpkin, forcing fluids, high fiber wet food. We made an appointment and they got us in the same day for a ROUTINE appointment. They didn't charge for an ER appointment which I appreciated. They took X-rays and Lilly needed to be deobstipated. I left her there for the afternoon. The initial deobstipation didn't work. The second one a few days later worked much better and she seemed like she was getting along much better. Back to her normal self! Fast forward a week later and she was just not doing great. She had to go to the kitty ER in Indy and stayed for a day. Anyways long story short they fixed her once again. Temporarily. We lost our poor girl today. I'm not sure if it was the constipation or the fact that she may have had an obstruction but her last month of life was heartbreaking. All-Star was incredible through the entire process. Seeing these comments about how expensive it is has been strange because I feel like the cost of services is on par with any other facility but the staff here shines! Even follow up texts to ensure things are going well. Yesterday I made an appointment for 0800 today because she stopped eating and began exhibiting signs of generalized weakness. Lilly didn't make it to her appointment. She passed about 7am today. I still brought her in, but a different kind of appointment. We made the decision to get the personalized cremation where they return the ashes in an urn of your choice. They also allowed me to take paw prints which I turned into art. They'll do much better prints for me as well (I'm not a professional paw print taker, but I love to paint and Lilly would always kind of just sit and watch while I create. I'm glad I had supplies with me today) anyways. As sad as this story is I still have two cats as patients and I'm very impressed with the care that we received.

Dr. Cable comes in with a very calm manner and loads of yummy dog treats: * peanut butter, which is smeared on a paper plate * wet dog food, also put on a paper plate * other good things my girls love/loved. Each had a slightly rough first meeting, as they hadn't met her, but once they got whiffs of things in the basket she brings in, well, they were in love. She's always aware of their moods and reactions and easily works to reassure them, which has been quite successful. The main issue I have has been getting one or the other through the waiting room, as both are/were very protective. The costs are a bit high, but I've joked with friends that I put money into a matching 401(k) at all my jobs mostly for my dogs' care. Even if I hadn't, I'd stick with Dr. Cable. The staff is also exceptional. They've gotten to know my dogs and have helped with getting them in the door and into an exam room. So appreciate that.

Kaity was very informative and I did not feel she was trying to sell us things, which was a stark difference from our first visit. We would like to start off by stating that we contacted VetCheck Carmel before writing any reviews…read moreabout our experience online. I would not recommend you bring your pet here unless they are on their actual death bed. Review our experience below as to why we feel this strongly about their lack of care for your pet and only to line their pockets. We came home from being out of town on a Friday afternoon and our dog had a large cut on the bottom of her paw. We contacted our vet and they told us to go to Indianapolis because our dog needed stitches and they were unable to get us at the last minute with it being a Friday afternoon/evening prior to a holiday. **There are no emergency vets in the Bloomington area. We reached out to Indy Vet (who was recommended) but they let us know they were backed up and to go to VetCheck in Carmel to be seen sooner. We contacted them and they were able to get us in that evening with their $99 deposit fee. We had her paw wrapped on the drive up to prevent her licking and making the situation worse. We arrived, went to the exam room, explained the situation to the tech, and she took our dog back to show the vet and relay the information we discussed. Dr. Dodda came into the exam room and told us he would be gluing it based on the location and the fact that it was "not actively bleeding" (She was actively bleeding all afternoon/evening prior to arriving/wrapping). We reiterated that our vet communicated it would need stitches based on the images sent to her. He didn't seem interested in answering any of our questions and reiterated he would be sedating her, debriding and gluing it shut. We are not the professionals here and by this point it was 9 p.m. at night - getting into another emergency vet would have taken a long time - so we agreed. Our dog came out from the treatment and we were given instructions: Ecollar for 10 days, change her bandage out 2-3 days after and daily bandage changes after that + give her the prescribed antibiotic and pain pill. The vet never came back post procedure to let us know what exactly he had done and how it went. We checked out and went on our way home. The bandage came off 2 days later and we proceeded with the post-op advice given. We contacted our vet to schedule a check-up on the wound and sent the information from the emergency vet over to them - the earliest they could get us in with the holiday was 5 days after the emergency visit. Upon arrival to our vet - she confirmed that the vet should have put stitches in. After 5 days of "healing", our dog went back under sedation to receive stitches from our personal vet. We reached out to VetCheck to let them know the update and confirmation of what the vet should have professionally done to help our dog and try to rectify the situation. Instead of calling us back - they reached out to our personal vet to receive her records of what was performed (without our consent). Luckily, our vet informed us after that they had sent the records over and asked if we were receiving treatment from them. Keep in mind - this all happened without our permission and without receiving a response back from VetCheck. We finally received a call back from VetCheck and they let us know they would not be refunding any of the treatment provided because we did not follow the "Follow Up Instructions". It was then they claimed that we were supposed to come back 48 hours later for a follow up appointment after the first treatment. We let them know we were never informed in-person or in-writing of this 48 hour follow up appointment to which they replied "it's in our records we told you to come back". This was a blatant lie as you can see in the attached picture of the instructions written on the bag "Change bandage 2-3 days". Why would we need to change the bandage in 2-3 days if we were instructed to come back in for a follow up appointment 48 hours later? Overall - would not recommend you bring your pet here for care and in any future emergent situations, we will go elsewhere.
