Been going here frequently because one of our dog has a chronic condition. They are always polite and treat clients and fur babies with respect. The staff make sure that I know what the prices will be and if I have any other questions they're always there to help. I would recommend them because they really care. The vets I've taken my various dogs to have always been very kind, but Dr. Cable is a certified Fear Free vet, and my most recent two rescue dogs are/were (had to euthanize one in October) fearful and anxious. Dr. Cable comes in with a very calm manner and loads of yummy dog treats: * peanut butter, which is smeared on a paper plate * wet dog food, also put on a paper plate * other good things my girls love/loved. Each had a slightly rough first meeting, as they hadn't met her, but once they got whiffs of things in the basket she brings in, well, they were in love. She's always aware of their moods and reactions and easily works to reassure them, which has been quite successful. The main issue I have has been getting one or the other through the waiting room, as both are/were very protective. The costs are a bit high, but I've joked with friends that I put money into a matching 401(k) at all my jobs mostly for my dogs' care. Even if I hadn't, I'd stick with Dr. Cable. The staff is also exceptional. They've gotten to know my dogs and have helped with getting them in the door and into an exam room. So appreciate that. read more

I'll preface this review with the doctors are great and both the Allisonville and Brookschool locations are great. However, on two separate occasions for both of my dogs, I called the day after with serious concerns about my dogs and felt that my concerns were dismissed. My first dog, I was told to call if his condition got worse because it was important for him to be seen and they first dismissed my concerns about him being seen, I called again and they scheduled me an appointment for the next day. I called the Allisonville location after that and they set up an emergency appointment for me. My other dog was sedated and I called the next day because he was not acting well. They said they'd talk to the doctor and call me back. Over an hour later and close to close I had no follow up, I called the Allisonville location and they gave me some instructions and promptly set up an appointment for him to be seen. Lengthy review but I wanted to make it known that my dogs were in need of being checked on and Carmel didn't set up appointments for them nor did they do anything to ease my mind that my dogs were okay. read more

This place is extremely close to home so I was hoping this would be my vet. When one of my cats suddenly looked like she was breathing super heavily, I called this place to see if they could see my cat asap, and explained my cat looked like she was struggling to breath. They told me they didn't have any appointments for a week but instead of urging me to find a sooner appointment they tried to schedule me for their clinic in Fishers, days out. I reluctantly agreed because of my stress and confusion. Thankfully I immediately realized the urgency and found another clinic, Noble West. I cancelled the appointment with Carmel. My cat could have died if I waited as she literally was having a very severe asthma attack. My second experience was with my other cat who started making popping sounds when he walks. Not an emergency so I could wait for an apt. One of the doctors looked at him walk and talked to me about it and sent me home with meds to stop potential swelling, but it ended up not doing anything because there was no swelling. When I returned for a follow up appointment they told me I need to schedule an xray. This location doesn't do them apparently. So I had to schedule a 3rd apt just to get an Xray at their Fishers location. When they saw the scans she couldn't see anything wrong, this just happens and recommended I try a cat chiropractor if I'm worried. I feel like they were nice but not at all helpful. A waste of time/money if you have to be redirected to their Fishers location for Xrays. Also the animal chiropractor recommendation seemed like a last ditch suggestion, I knew it would be another waste of time and money. I went to Noble West Clinic for a second opinion and they instantly saw something was off on the same xrays and gave me a referral to an orthopedic specialist who could understand the results even better. He ended up having minor arthritis and hip dysplasia. Long story short this place should be avoided for emergencies or if you might need bone/joint xrays. read more

Amazing that I got an emergency appointment the next morning at 10:30. The sweet doctor has a really wonderful dog-side manner :-) She got to the root of the problem and my bill for medications and urinalysis and an exam was only $140, which I find very acceptable. I typically take my two maltese dogs (who are like my babies) to their Allisonville Road office since it's closer to my house, but because the doctors rotate I have come here on occasion. Dr. Lee is phenomenal. I have never had such a thorough and caring vet. I am positive my little dog would not be here if it wasn't for her. Dr. Brown also did a surgery on my dog's leg, and the quality of care and follow-up was excellent. The vet techs are awesome as well...Nancy is the one who has worked with my dogs the most, and she is so caring and good with animals, but they have all been great. I also take my dogs here for their grooming now. I had taken them to Petsmart for years, which was fine, but after their latest debacle of a dog dying in their care I decided it wasn't worth the risk. I made an appointment for both of them to be groomed at the Carmel office not sure what to expect, but Brittany is excellent! They looked so good when she was finished with them. I was so impressed. (And as an added bonus, they charge $20 less per dog than Petsmart) Really can't say enough good things about the quality of care here. I have lived in Salt Lake City, Dallas, and Indianapolis, and this is by FAR the best practice I've ever been to. read more

I have been coming to this vet for 7 years. There are several different vets that work there it depends on the hours/day of the week what vet is working. I've had mostly average experiences in the past with the vets and veterinary clinic staff. The location has been convenient for me, that is why I have taken my dog there. I do not recommend the boarding services. I left my dog for a week and he came back extremely anxious and literally trembling. In addition, he smelled horrible, even though he was supposed to get a bath before I picked him up. The establishment is in a strip mall with a housing addition backing up to the building. I don't see how they are able to take the dogs out for any kind of potty breaks or exercise. read more

We have two Lab mutts that we take here for regular exams and issues. The vets and staff are always professional and try to find solutions that are helpful to the dogs and not too hurtful to my wallet. I need both - either the former or the latter alone is unhelpful. We also used their boarding service once and were very satisfied. No issues and the dogs came back the same as when they were dropped off. But, honestly, how does one know how dogs are treated at the kennel? My dogs don't talk and they hate all kennels. They could have used them to pull salt mining equipment in a salt mine for all I know. If they did, they came back ok, so whatever. read more

My cats and I love Dr. Cable! I have seen her at the Carmel and Fishers locations. She is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and goes the extra mile. She carries a basket full of treats and toys to entertain the animals. I'm moving cross country so I asked for advice on transporting the cats and she printed out several articles on acclimating them to their carriers and the car, what to do about food and litter box, and helping them adjust to their new home. I had gone to Parkside Animal Hospital before and had a negative experience- asked a male vet there the same question and he just abruptly said he doesn't approve of medicating pets on drives- which I never even asked about. He made me feel like a pill seeker, which I have a lot of experience with, being a pharmacist and I wouldn't treat my patients like that. I asked that vet about litter, making them at ease, etc and he didn't have any advice. So I really appreciate Dr. Cable's extra effort (I didn't even mention the other vet because this was my other cat and I wanted as much advice as possible). When I called Carmel Veterinary Clinic now closer to my move, I actually asked about medicating my older cat because she had escaped twice in the past three weeks while my parents had my two cats as we set up our move out of state. I was fine with Benadryl or whatever recommended but wanted her advice and safe dosing. Dr. Cable called me back personally and we talked and I brought both cats in for weight check for dosing and also to go over last minute concerns. Great service! The office staff at both Carmel and Fishers are very friendly and helpful too. I love that the vets rotate offices so you can find your regular/favorite vet wherever is most convenient at variety of times- morning and even evening hours. read more

We are so happy with the service we get here! Everyone on staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and they are so patient with all of our questions. They have comparable prices for the various services they offer, and I have seen them be kind to all dogs in the waiting room. My parents and neighbor use the Fishers branch (same vets at both places) and have been happy as well. I couldn't ask for a better introduction to owning a dog!
