This seemed high, but in a stressful situation, I trusted that I was fairly being charged the going rate for this area. Days later, I decided to check with 12 other local vet offices to get their quotes for similar cremation services. Quotes ranged from $198 to $301! I contacted Julie, the Windermere hospital manager to see if there was a mistake on my bill. She said the fee was correct, attributed the high price to the cremation service they used, and wouldn't make any adjustment to my bill. When I received my cat back and saw the name of the cremation service on the paperwork, it turned out to be the same one used by 2 of the other practices that quoted me a price of just under $220! I feel very taken advantage of by Windermere Animal Hospital at a traumatic time, and will not return to this office in the future.

I don't want a referral to buy one of their recommended dog food brands like Purina, Iams, Hills science diet, any of that crap. If you read the label, you will see All the toxic poisons and filler that is in those brands. Also, you will see that the exact same thing is in Purina that's in science diet. You just pay significantly more. All I want to know was a couple questions I had about a couple of the ingredients that were in my kitten's food. That's it that's all. Instead I get a text message, (when in my file it says do not text me or email me, only call me,) Telling me nothing about the blue Buffalo kitten wilderness food that I inquired about. But telling me to buy one of their cat food brands that they are paid to push on people. They get kickbacks or percentage from selling those specific brands of food. And like I responded to them I shouldn't have expected anything better because they are not pet nutritionist. They are veterinarians. It's just like if I have a question about what I should or should not eat, my doctor tells me to talk to a nutritionist or a dietitian. Because he is neither.

We loved this dog deeply and spent 6 years trying to give him the best life possible. Dr. Park prescribed medication that helped, but when we were unable to get Phoenix back for blood work on time because we were selling and buying a home, his medication was not refilled, causing him to abruptly stop taking it. After moving, Phoenix initially did wonderfully. Unfortunately, he later injured our son. We immediately called 911. Paramedics evaluated our son and determined the injury was a scratch, not a bite. They contacted a pediatrician, who advised that because both our son and Phoenix were vaccinated, he did not need to go to the hospital. Both vaccination records are current and Phoenix's are on file with Noblesville Pet Wellness. We contacted the clinic for guidance. After discussing behavior evaluation and other options, Dr. Park told us he did not believe a behavior evaluation or muzzle training would accomplish anything and that Phoenix should not have to spend his life medicated and confined. After everything we had tried, we made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him. Phoenix had already been listed for adoption for months, but realistically, we knew finding a safe home for a 6-year-old, highly anxious dog with issues around children and cats would be extremely difficult. We wanted to give him a peaceful ending and have him cremated so we could bring him home. His euthanasia was scheduled for August 17. Two hours before the appointment, we were told that unless we could provide documentation from our son's pediatrician confirming the injury was a scratch, the clinic would have to decapitate Phoenix after euthanasia and send his head for rabies testing. I offered the EMS report, police documentation, and vaccination records. I explained that our pediatrician was booked for weeks and that the injury was already almost completely healed. I repeatedly asked the clinic to provide documentation explaining why this was required, but they could not provide what I was asking for. Our family was already devastated. We had spent the weekend giving Phoenix what we thought would be his final days with us. My husband even brought him a double bacon cheeseburger from Culver's and ice cream for his last meal. Instead, we spent over an hour fighting to make sure we could say goodbye to our dog and have him returned to us intact. The receptionist's lack of empathy made an already horrific situation even worse. Cassandra was the only person I encountered who showed genuine compassion. This experience has left my family completely traumatized. I have had animals my entire life and have trusted many veterinarians, but I deeply regret trusting this clinic with Phoenix. I understand that euthanasia was our decision, and I know some people may judge us for it. We made it because we loved Phoenix, knew him better than anyone, and did not want him to suffer or potentially hurt another child. I would never bring another one of my animals here.
