It was cool in there, but the bare hallways didn't feel cool and comfortable. If you enjoy shopping at destination and lifestyle places, this is your place. There are so many great restaurants, art galleries, and places to shop that is can be a bit dizzying. From Forever 21, Apple, Auntie Anne's, to Hot Dog on Stick to Lenscrafters. Here are simply too many to name. Our goal was to eat at Sarku Japan and then bop around. This place is on life support and it's time to pull the plug. Shame as the layout is so unique. There's nothing there. If you're not from the area and considering this as a destination, don't. The mall is on the path of a continuous downward spiral. Four or more new restaurants have either closed or failed to open. Macy's is simply hanging on to old inventory. Majority of retail space is vacant and Cinebistro Movies closed its doors permanently. This is no longer a shopping and/or lifestyle destination. This is a really great mall. I found every store I could think of here. I bought 2 pairs of shoes on sale at Aldo for the price of 1! WOOO! Also, they had just opened a Bare Escentuals STORE!!! A whole store of just Bare Minerals!!! WOOOO! I was in HEAVEN. I can't say I've seen or even heard of a Bare Escentuals only store in Miami. I can't wait til we get one though!!! read more

This is the best mall in the Sarasota area, but let's be honest -- the competition isn't stiff. That said, it has a decent variety of stores in a compact, easy-to-navigate layout. Saks, Dillards & Macy's are the anchors. Saks & Dillards are on the small side, but the Macy's is decent-sized and has a good home store. There's a nice variety of other stores, including Ann Taylor & LOFT, Banana Republic, Gap, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Gymboree, and MAC Cosmetics. Oh, and speaking of "Mac," there's allegedly going to be an Apple store opening here. If it only had a Nordstrom, Anthropologie, and Sephora, it would be pretty close to perfect. read more

The shopping mall was super chill on a Monday morning. The wing we visited had many art venues. There were many visual delights. We were exchanging foreign currency on our way to the Ringling Museum so we couldn't linger but will be back when we have more time. read more

I am rather fond of this mall because I have been shopping here since I was a child, even before westfield took over. This place just holds allot of memories for me personally. The mall is always clean and anybody that works here is always very kind. The only thing is that all of the stores are higher end and pretty much everything is very expensive with the exception of the restaurants. So do not come to this mall expecting to find something cheap. The only place I will actually buy anything from is Victoria Secret on Occasion. The main thing I do here anymore is walk because this mall has little mile markers. I believe if you walk around the mall once, you have walked half a mile. So it's great if you want to go for walk, which I personally do all the time in the mornings and chill with the elderly people that are on their morning walks as well. read more

Don't bother coming here, just go to an outlet. Not many stores to browse. Pretty dead on a weekend. Walked through the entire place in ten minutes. Plenty of other places with a Saks and Macy's... definitely not worth traveling here unless you absolutely have nowhere else to go. read more

Nice shopping mall. Wish there were a Nordstroms here instead of Saks. Macy's has lots of sales. The Coach store has a large selection of the newest handbags. The Sunglass Shop is also really nice and the staff there very helpful. We bought new window blinds and curtains at JC Penny's in this mall and the staff was really helpful. ASD, my apologies. Your reviews are so accurate and helpful, but you have a major mistake in this one. You made a very accurate review of The Mall (as locals call Sarasota Square in my expeirence) at Beneva and 41, but this is Southgate, at Siesta Drive and 41. When Sarasota Square was built, Southgate had already been there for years, but Saks was a Publix, and it was an open-air strip mall. As I said, a very accurate review of a different mall, and I apologize for pointing outyour error. read more

The day I went, they seemed to be doing some tile renovating. Signs randomly places - some at the door we went in, some through out the mall. Seems like a typical shopping area - low budget to mediocre budget stores, variety of restaurants to choose from. Only confusion was trying to get in the parking lot off one of the streets from Bee Ridge Road. Otherwise, nothing to complain about. read more

Westfield Southgate is a really nice mall and they have a lot of designer stores. I went here for a currency exchange which is right inside the Talbot's side entrance. There is a ton of parking and security vehicles really patrol the parking lot each day. read more

Le sigh. I love this little mall, and how I miss it. When I lived and worked in Sarasota, I frequented Southgate quite often. It had everything I needed. Dillard's, Macy's, Sak's, Express, Pottery Barn, Loft, etc. For a tiny mall, the caliber of stores is impressive and caters to the clientele who frequent it. Parking is never an issue at this mall, even during the holidays you can find a spot without having to throw down and fight someone in the parking lot. It is never incredibly crowded, which I love. The downside is since it is small, there is no official food court and only a handful of dining options, mainly the two restaurants Ziti and Too Jay's. Oh and there is also a Starbuck's. I highly recommend coming to this mall if you want a stress-free shopping experience without having to give up the quality stores you want to shop at. I would shop here over any of the nightmare Brandon/Tampa malls any day of the week! read more
