Pricing was confusing. Rep would rearrange line items if the quote was changed or updated. Got high costs on revisions with NO heads-up. The upcharge for my most expensive item was 50%. I don't know what to think. I'm nervous on my delivery. I hope they use repetable shipping companies. I'm screwed if these panels are damaged. read more

My experience with this company was great until I received my order which was damaged and had incorrect panel sizes. Will never buy from this company again. Had shipping damage and product issues that took over a month to partially resolve. Over 20+ emails, 10+ calls, and being told they would call me back...they never did. IT TOOK ME FILING A CREDIT CARD DISPUTE WITH MY BANK FOR THEM TO ANSWER MY EMAILS AND ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS. Extremely frustrating experience this company. Buyer Beware... Items I ordered were received damaged (dents and scratches) and wrong sizes. Requested 6.5' and 7.5' panels, received 6' 5" and 7' 5". Sales person admitted their mistake and offered a discount on new items. No offer to fix the probably they created other than spend more money on discounted items off my next purchase. Requested paint to repair the scratched panels from shipping damage and they tried to charge me for the paint. When someone actually took my call, they stated I should not have to pay for the paint. Took over a month for them to actually provide an invoice to order the paint at no cost to me. If you sell to "home owners" then why dont you make the delivery of your product easy for the home owner/ customer? You deliver with a basic flat bed truck. You need to send the metal (potentially Heavy Metal) out on a flat bed truck with a piggyback fork lift on the back of it. This is a no brainer? Homeowner's typically dont own fork lifts. You vend metal not feathers. Speaking of customer service, that front office needs a tune up, her name is Noel. If my order was correct my delivery could have been delivered without me taking time off work and unloading the truck by hand with my wife. The owner will respond to this with some pleasant words, but what needs to happen is a qualified CDL driver needs to be hired with a forklift certificate, and then drive around delivering the metal product- simple. read more

I would have given this rating a 0 if I could have. I used to regularly purchase through Western States Metal in Tucson. Unfortunately, the sales rep I had (have) is a liar, a gas lighter and a jerk. I have made attempts to change reps, in an attempt to keep doing business with Western States and keep getting rerouted to him! Two people I reached out to via email refused to give me the name of his direct supervisor!! I called the (877) number to get the name and contact information for his direct supervisor and was given the run around by the person I spoke with. Apparently, they don't give out the information for supervisors!! I have to send an email to sales@westernstates....just wow!!!!! I guess I don't give Western States enough business for anyone there to care! I sent the email on Friday about noon. It is now 1:10 pm Monday and zero response. I may not be their top customer, but I buy enough from them that I would think I matter!! I guess that not being one of their very lucrative clients means they don't care! read more

This company seems uninterested in serving the DIY homeowner interested in their product. Seven years ago my contractor replaced our roof for us. We got the 7/8" corrugated metal roofing from WSMR, including drip edge, gable end trim, ridge cap, and screws. Contractor didn't install closure strips at the panel ends. Currently we are building an addition with a different type of roofing and I want to install closure strips where the roof transition happens. I called to order the strips (their online quote submission form doesn't work), as well as some replacement screws. First of all, the customer service rep who answered seemed to have zero training in customer service basics. She was so awkward and timid that I wondered if she was actually even listening to me. She said she was opening an order for me and would have a rep contact me. No one from the company ever called me to complete the order. Other reviews here and elsewhere confirm that the company send the message that they're uninterested in providing service to independent homeowners. Oh well, I went to another metal roofing manufacturer's website and found a product that fits the profile of my panels, as well the appropriate screws. Terrible customer service. I placed an $21000 order with Western States metal roofing last October. The quality of the product was great. The product didn't arrive when promised, but that wasn't too big of a deal. I was shorted about 1500 stainless steel screws, Mark my salesman promised to send them right out. After 2 weeks and multiple phone calls and emails, I finally had to buy them elsewhere. Next big problem they Charged me for 62 pieces of a custom trim, but the signed order was for 8 pieces. Mark told me the company would Credit me for the trim pieces and the screws I was shorted. Needless to say it is now April and Western States Metal roofing has done nothing despite multiple emails and phone calls. This is my first ever online negative review. read more

Don't expect to hear back after you've ordered and something was not right. That doesn't seem to be where they focus attention. I had several parts of my order gotten wrong and have tried to reach them several different times. They will not get any of my business again. read more

This is my second building project using Western States' corten steel - both standing seam for roof and corrugated for siding. The great product and the great company to work with. All orders are processed in the timely manner, all deliveries are on time or ahead of schedule. Strongly recommend dealing with Western States Metal for the high-end building projects. read more

The only reason they get one star is because I can't give them ZERO STARS!! Wow.......I just spoke with "Larry" who took the phone call from Michele (sales rep) who just said, "can you hold?" when the conversation got logical. Larry tried to explain that the machine that cuts their roofing has a 1/2" tolerance, which I told him that since I could read, that I already knew that from seeing the order confirmation form Michele sent me. What he couldn't guarantee though, was that the roofing I was going to buy today, would be all the same length (6 pieces cut the same length so they all match up - sounds simple, right?)....his response to that was that I should buy 7 pieces so that the first sheet (the "test" sheet) could be wasted (but I pay for it to ensure that the next 6 are the same size). I told him that if I were to tell him that as a rep for my company, I would expect to be laughed at. His response....."take it or leave it." Larry should be better equipped at a number of things, but first of all, his company should eat the "test" sheet and figure that into the price of the order to get it right. I surely would have paid more for the other sheets and have them the same length, than to be told that I should just pay for the "mistake" or "oops" sheet so I get what I need. Oh, and I have to prepay even if my client makes me buy replacement material because it's the wrong length, and if I return it, Western States Decking Inc charges me 6%.....glad I don't do business like that. Would NOT recommend using Kerry Formanek as a sales agent!!!!! Lack of communication and misinformation from the beginning! Extremely rude and defensive when she realized I wasn't happy with all the run around. She quoted the price of roof decking for one price with a 10 day window...called 7 days later and she tried to tell me that since it was July 1st the price went up by 30% I informed her I had an email dated June 24th with a 10 day window on that price and her response was that she doesn't even know where she got the original quote price bc it wasn't right either we agreed on 10% increase in price and I thought all was good. 2 days later I called to verify order and she informed me there was a docusign I needed to fill out and pay. She apologized and said 'I'm normally pretty good about telling the customer to expect an email from a completely different account for verification and payment and I apologize bc its just so hectic right now.' I filled out the Docusign and called 12 days later to get an ETA on shipping and she said she would text me in 20 mins. No response so I called 2 days later and she said we owed $950 for shipping!!! I asked why I was just now hearing about this and she claimed it should have been in the Docusign and it wasn't her fault I couldn't read it. According to the Docusign shipping was already paid for and it was only $400 which she informed me I was lucky to get bc that price was incorrect. She also said she ' hoped I didn't fill out payment bc she was going to make sure I paid the $950 for shipping.' I informed her it was too late bc I paid for the order weeks ago. After some arguing back and forth she told me to shut up and she would look up the order. After I was silent for a few seconds she started making condescending comments like "see the silence is way better' which triggered another argument where she asked if I 'talked to my wife like that' and she also said 'I'm a 52 yr old woman and you sound like a young arrogant punk who doesn't know what they are doing' She also put the billing address as the ship to address which are to completely different places. Kerry also told me that I 'probably didn't fill out the Docusign and it wouldn't surprise her if I didn't do my job'. She confirmed that I did in fact fill it out properly. She also tried to say I switched my order which was never the case and she said 'see look who doesn't know what they are doing' I then asked for proof bc everything was done via email and to show me when I switched my order then after a few seconds she apologized and said she was looking at the wrong order. Still don't know when my order will arrive or where it is going since she hung up. I order somewhere over a million dollars in material a year from vendors all over the US and I have never seen this type of customer service and poor office organization all happening while she tries to put blame on the customer when it was clearly her fault. There wouldn't have been any argument today if she wouldn't have told me I owed $950 which was never the case bc shipping had been paid for 2 weeks and was only $400. I cant say stay away from Western Metal as a company, as this is my first experience with them and would like to think they have other knowledgeable and professional sales agents but I can say DO NOT work with Kerry Formanek. I'm offended especially by the personal attacks on me and my family. If she stays an employee for this company it would say a lot about how they run their business and lets their sales agent do whatever they want. Terrible customer service, I was a previous customer and before giving me a quote they wanted me to sign a affidavit stating I was going to purchase, are you kidding me? Well I was going to purchase if their quote was anywhere near reasonable but not now. They also told me companies charge $1000 for a take off for a 4/12 pitch garage roof, that sounds like a great business. read more
