My husband's been wanting a Gus cowboy hat for quite a while and we ordered a few online. With no luck at all we decided we would go in person to shop for one. Kalispell has a few western stores but we chose to go to this one in downtown Kalispell. Very friendly helpful staff, who found my husband his perfect cowboy hat. After shopping around we decided on a few pair of boots too!! Really like everything we purchased from the hat to the three pair of boots. Highly recommend this place for great service great selection and decent prices. read more

Friendly staff, prices aren't too bad. We did spend about $300 on new cowboy boots for me, work shoes for my husband, two cowboy hats (one for each of us). We were on our honeymoon and wanted to do the whole western get up thing for when we did our hour horse ride at the Lonesome Dove Guest Ranch. The service was great and the staff was really friendly. We'll definitely be coming back when we are in Montana. read more

This place is a dream. The top floor has a huge variety of gifts and western wear. The sales ladies are AMAZING. They measured my head for a hat and also were so great and patient with our kids (who got a hold of the play sheriff gunslinger set lol). Downstairs is a vintage market, which is awesome. I picked up some handmade soap that is to die for. Also, next door but attached through the hallways is a soda fountain and candy store. I ended up spending over an hour between all three businesses. Highly recommend! read more

This is an interesting little shop if you've got some time to kill in downtown Kalispell. They've got walls of boots and other Western/country clothing here. Lots of local knick knacks, Montana souvenirs, and other random goodies. It seems a little random, but it was fun to browse the shop a bit all the same, and the staff were super nice and helpful. read more

This place is awesome! It is the largest Western store in Western Montana. It is more than just cowboy hats and boots (although they have 1000's of them). It is connected to Norm's News a classic 1950's diner and downstairs is a great antique mall. read more

Very, very, very rude. If I could give no stars I would. I'm home visiting from Phoenix. My family and I have shopped at this store for years. Today we were in there at 5:50pm. They close at 6pm. The lady (a relative...maybe daughter of the owner) came up to us and asked if there was anything she could help us find "quickly". We said no and then she rudely said that they were closing and that we would need to leave. They closed the door behind us at 5:55pm. I was planning on spending some money in there but I will NEVER give them a cent...nor will my family and friends. I've never been treated so rudely...even in a large city like Phoenix. Kalispell is home and this kind of rudeness is just not ok. On the "Norm's News" side, they were so wonderful and kind. They could teach the Western Outdoors Store crew a few things about manners. read more

This is one of Kalispell's older stores and has a venerability about it. It has lots of old time atmosphere, a huge stock of all things Western-- boots, clothing, hats.... They have excellent staff and great customer service policies. Support your local stores! And if you are travelling through, you owe it to yourself to see one of Kalispell's best. And if you have a lot of time, go downstairs to the huge antique mall. read more

Horrible customer service! Bought a very expensive pair of boots that required a repair 2 days after purchase. When I brought them in I was told there was nothing they could do. The front counter person Susan was extremely abrasive and was very reluctant to let me speak to a manager. The repair was not done 2 weeks later and the boots were returned back. If you buy boots there, do not expect a warranty whatsoever. read more

I was charged twice for a single transaction totaling $227.63-and the way this was handled was incredibly unprofessional. I spoke with a woman named Christina, and rather than taking ownership or even offering a basic apology, she immediately shifted the blame to the credit card processing company. She told me they were closed and the issue would be addressed the following morning. Two days later-no update on my card, no call back. So I followed up myself AGAIN. Christina did not even acknowledge she forgot both to follow up and to handle the issue. Still, no apology for the oversight. Then, to make matters worse, she told me she couldn't credit the full amount and proceeded to argue with me that the store only charged once. She said she has to call their credit card processor for the remaining amount and sounded annoyed. This mistake should have been handled promptly. It's been 6 days, and I have yet to receive my credit back. Mistakes happen, I understand that. But the complete lack of responsibility, professionalism, and customer care is what prompted this review. Make sure you receive confirmation that you were only charged once for your transaction before you leave. Christina admitted it has happened before.
