We booked this hotel at very last minute for our road trip to the Crystal Cave in Sequoia National Park. I can't complain for the price we paid. It provides free parking, complimentary breakfast and free wifi. Of course, it can be a bit cleaner and more neat. Overall, great location and good price. :) read more

Terrible experience, especially for the price we paid. We were traveling with a small child and booked this hotel at the last minute due to very limited availability in the area. Under normal circumstances, we would not have chosen this hotel, but unfortunately we had no other options at the time. Thankfully, it appears that the bed where our child slept did not have bed bugs. However, the bed where my husband slept was infested. The room itself was in very poor condition: dirty mirrors, stained chairs, and everything looked extremely old, worn out, and neglected. The overall level of cleanliness was unacceptable. My husband was bitten multiple times during the night and had a severe reaction. Unfortunately, the bed bugs appear to have traveled home with us, and we are now dealing with an infestation in our own apartment. This stay caused us significant stress and additional expenses. This has to be one of the worst places I've ever stayed. Upon arriving, my wife and I went to the office which had a really bad smell (as if a skunk died in there). As my wife didn't wish to get a refund, when we went to our room, it was ok at best. The AC unit was on, but the room was hot. After a day at Sequoia National, we came back ( about 3-4 hours later) and the room was warm. We went to dinner (see that review) and upon arriving at our room, it was now almost cool. By morning, it was finally cold. To yourself a favor, avoid this establishment if at all possible! It's just not worth the money! read more

We stayed here a few weeks ago. I was very leary due to all the negative reviews but I found the motel excellent. (Yes I call it a motel rather than a hotel) The rooms were very clean, sheets fresh, multiple USBs , and updated decor. Housekeeping requests were answered quickly. The pool is used by families and a pool man comes every day. There were no bugs; maybe it was the time of year. Every morning a free breakfast of warm waffles, cereal, toast, fruit which was tasty and well liked by the guests. The river cannot be seen but is a 5 minute walk and it was beautiful. Town with multiple restaurants, groceries, and gas stations is a few hundred yards away. The water was hot and our air conditioner worked well. (I will say I was in the lobby one morning and a guest was vigorously complaining about their nonworking AC as they were about to go somewhere else the preceding evening but were told "just 30 min more," "just an hour more." Nice ground and play area for kids. Very close to Sequoia Park entrance but leave by 8 or 9 or expect a waitline of more than 45 minutes. I would recommend. read more

My parents are senior citizens and survivors of the recent Eaton Fire. The Night before their stay at this hotel, a wildfire started nearby. This fire (the Saddle fire) was about five miles from Three Rivers, active for four days, and burned 206 acres. It also closed the nearby highway for most of the day that my parents were supposed to check in. When my parents called to request a refund, the manager claimed to have no knowledge of the fire and said they should call the local fire station if they were so worried. My parents were understandably very concerned about driving toward another wildfire, so they chose not to go. When I called after the fact to request a refund on their behalf for their two night stay and explained my parents' situation and recent trauma, this hotel refused to refund any of their money. To put this in perspective, the hotel I was supposed to stay at in the same town at the same time sent me a message hours after the fire started to offer a full refund. Shame on this hotel. My parents have been through enough. If you care about victims of the recent LA fires, I suggest you not give this hotel your money. Update: After reading more reviews, I CANNOT believe this hotel is still allowed to do business. The people who run it seem to have zero morals. I am SO glad my parents avoided this place! We didn't realize we couldn't book at campsites in sequoia same day so we found this hotel late at night. we thought it was a best western. Never again the front desk guy didnt want to honor a price I could've book online we paid $40 more when we got to room there were spider webs everywhere and live spiders too. I went to front desk and the guy came out with a broom and just gave it a quick sweep of ceiling. The rubber piece that goes under door was g and in the of the Night I seen spiders come in the room I couldn't sleep, the bathroom window was packed with spider webs, there was trash on bathroom floor earrings back cover which told me it was never swept for next guest. I seen dead bugs all over the room it was until the morning e we noticed how filthy the hotels is. Front office has a strong food smell we will never stay here again very poor quality. This place is a DUMP!! Overpriced for what you get. We were in King Suite room #52. It's a ground floor room and dog friendly. Room is spacious but the decor was terrible. Needs updating for sure. Could use a coffee table and another lamp as it was dark and dreary. Called the front desk asking for another lamp BUT no one ever brought one. The walls and baseboard need to be wiped down big time. Grout job in bathroom was lousy, I could have done a better job than that. Had to ask for more towels, went up to get them from front desk. Towel rack was flimsy and felt unsafe like it was going to fall off the wall. Patio was FILTHY!! Needed to be hosed down badly. Grass outback was very dried up and unkept as well as weeds full of goat head thorns, which is awful for anyone but especially if you paid $35 a night extra to have your dog with you, you can't even walk them around and potty them due to thorns. The trash dumpster was overflowing. Owners need to pay the extra for more dumpsters in order to keep up with the trash guests generate. In addition dumpsters need be inside an enclosure as no one enjoys seeing and smelling garbage. The pool had a lovely murky green tint to it. Saw some guests in it but no way were we drawn to taking a dip. OVERPRICED for what you get, even though its the most affordable in the area not worth it. Next time I'll pay more and stay somewhere else. Only thing positive I have to say is its in a great location and the bedsheets and towels were clean. Would not recommend this place at all. We were scammed the rooms were so disgusting dirty, the bed sheets had stains, behind the bed were dead roaches. We were not given towels when we asked for them they were filthy. We confronted the owner about the stained sheets and the filth and he denied everything that was clean and that he clean the room for us, and change the sheets and that he can't give us a refund. To top it off we had one room with no working toilet and it took about 5 hours for them to fix the toilet. It was just a bad experience and they charged us so much. The reviews from this place is so true it's a horrible place. No question about the price rate being the cheapest among the hotels/lodges nearby but the room & amenities explained why. We were originally assigned to a room which the front desk said overlooking by the river but the moment we went it was dark & gloomy with small window showing a view of dried grass, lifeless trees & rocks with no sign of waters outside. Toilet got no toiletries except with halfway used tissue roll. Had to spray some lysol as the smell was not good at all. Finally we decided to change room which the front desk acted so surprised saying that the room she gave us was the biggest. Honestly, we didn't care about the size but at least a decent one! Another room was offered located at the second floor overlooking the swimming pool & playground. This time the atmosphere looked better yet the lighting was not sufficient with one lamp broken. Restroom/ shower room had very low pressure of water that could suddenly get hot or cold once another user from other unit uses it. Pillows & bed sheets didn't smell fresh so we were skeptical of using them during the night. TV channels were only basic with bad signals so I ended up using my phone & laptop. Our two nights of stay were very stressful & failed to get straight & peaceful sleep mainly caused by the old, noisy & erratic air condition dispensing either an extremely cold or no air at all! To spend wisely is crucial nowadays but to suffer from practicality is stupidity! Learned my lesson! read more

My girlfriend and I's first trip to this national park. Sequoia National Park. Drove from San Diego. The place itself, is okay. Right off the highway, nice view, and affordable. But? They need to hire nicer staff. We arrived on a Friday early morning. Around 3am. I felt bad for waking up the hotel manager, an older gentleman, that was definitely asleep. However, he was very helpful and kind. We got our room. Despite the bugs living and dead, right outside the door to our room, the room was okay. No good tv. But, when you're on vacation, you shouldn't be watching tv. That's besides the point. This hotel was close to the National Park, and other stops. It's definitely not the best, but, it's affordable and close to different spots. The only complaint? Is if you end up having to deal/talk to, a middle aged woman of Indian descent (India, not Native American). No. I'm not racist. But she never gave her name. And wasn't helpful, or courteous. She acted like helping us was more of a chore, than her job. And no, we didn't ask for anything out of the ordinary. Just basic information. Seeing as we have never been here before. So long story short, if you want a cheap room, close to where you want to go, stay here. Just remember, she's not friendly at the office desk. And doesn't have any answers to your questions or concerns. She's just kinda there. If it wasn't for her, we would give this hotel a 3*. Which is better than 1*. Hopefully management sees this, and gets someone more friendly and knowledgeable. But who knows. read more

Western Holiday Lodge Three Rivers was the worst customer service experience of my life. The staff are not only deceptive and uncleanly, but also undermining national ADA law. My fiance is paraplegic and uses a wheelchair, so I booked an accessible room with a wheelchair accessible bathroom on Expedia. Immediately after booking, I called the hotel to confirm the ADA room. I spoke with the manager (I believe his name is Jay). He told me the room was accessible and that we would have access to a handicap parking spot as well. This was in March. Ten days before our trip, I called the hotel again to confirm the ADA room (and to ensure the hotel was still operational during the pandemic). Again, I spoke with Jay. Although he rushed me off the phone, he confirmed our booking and the ADA room. We arrived at the hotel on August 14th. While my fiance unpacked the car, I went to check-in. The woman at the front desk (Maria) showed me the non-stair route to the room before even seeing my fiance (and so, she knew he was in a wheelchair). as she handed me the key, I asked yet again about the room's accessibility. She replied, "It has a shower, so it should be fine." I assumed that she meant there was no roll in shower, but room for a shower chair, which would've been okay (as I added this note when booking). Upon entering the room, we immediately realized that it was not accessible at all. In fact, my fiance could not even fit in the bathroom door. We returned to the front desk. Maria told us that all of the accessible rooms were already taken by other guests, and that my fiance should fit in the bathroom door if he fit in the front door. She said that they upgraded us to a king bed room instead of a queen because it is bigger. She said we did not book an accessible room (lies) and refused to admit that there was a man who worked there that I had confirmed with (Jay, who did not show up til the next day). After going back and forth, we discovered that they DID have an accessible room, but did not want to show it to us because it cost more than the room we booked (two beds vs. one bed). Finally, she showed us this room. The bathroom was accessible. They gave us the key. We thought everything was fine from there, but they intended to CHARGE us an additional $450 for three nights in this slightly larger room, even though it was their fault for overbooking the smaller ADA rooms. We refused and had a local Sheriff come to witness the exchange. Although the Sheriff could not legally intervene, he tried to get Maria to compromise by letting us have the ADA room we were confirmed to have. She refused. The Sheriff found us an ADA room and got us a discount at the Comfort Inn down the street (we would've looked elsewhere for a room ourselves, but were told by Expedia everything else was booked). The Comfort Inn was only available two nights, so we were forced to stay at the lodge for one night. Maria promised that my fiance could use the bathroom in the front office and to give a full refund of the next two nights with no fees. The next day, we were eager to check out, however, Expedia was not able to get anyone on the phone to process the refund. Those CROOKS turned their phones straight to voicemail to avoid giving us the refund they promised. I went to the office with Expedia on hold as they pretended to "fiddle" with their phones to "fix" them. I would not leave, so they finally answered the phone and told Expedia we could have the refund. It was absolutely disgusting to witness. In addition to being lied to, asked to pay more money for being disabled, and nearly cheated, the hotel was disgusting and in terrible condition. Our room had giant black widow spiders outside the door, more webs in the room on the ceiling, and ants in the bathroom. The toilets have such low water pressure, they have signs asking guests to 'not flush' toilet paper and use the wastebasket instead. The mini-fridge had stains from previous guests, the walls were scuffed and dirty, and the floors were warped with water damage. There are only 4 channels of static analog TV and the wifi is extremely slow. They have an accessible lift to get into the pool, but stairs leading to the pool area. The front office has stacks of disorganized boxes and papers. It was a mess, and the staff did not wear masks. Please, do yourself a favor and stay at the Comfort Inn or any other quality hotel in the area. The Western Holiday Lodge was disgraceful. We stayed on 8/14/2020. read more

They refuse to refund my money and complained about my dogs hair even though they are "pet friendly". Also the pool and jacuzzi are not usable. The pool is half full of dirty water. Bathrooms were so small you had to step into the tub to close the door. Floors were black with grime. Hot tub was out of order, not that I would have considered even using it given the condition of the rooms. I told management of the problems and nothing was done. I jumped on their website and I can tell you those reviews are fake. It seems like everything is "easy peasy" which is BS! Comfort Inn is up the road. Now it's a "Western Holiday Lodge"... ok... that explains some difficulty when I was trying to find them online. But it's still the same place and perfect for when you just came down out of the Sequoia park and need a place to crash out. I was concerned about the previous report of bed bugs, so I checked my room carefully! Not a bug to be seen anywhere. Don't let the report scare you off. It was fine. And the pillows were so comfy that I was tempted to ask if I could buy one! The room was great. Spacious - with a little fridge. Perfect for us. The hotel itself is in a beautiful area, surrounded by rolling hills and trees, and next to a roaring river. The river is next to the hotel, you can walk down the path and see it. I brought my breakfast to the room, opened the door and ate my breakfast while looking at the gorgeous scenery. Great breakfast - lots to choose from with a food area and tables to sit and enjoy (make your own waffles, good cereal - not the cheapy boxes, juice, coffee, coffee cake and muffins, fruit / huge naval oranges)!! They also have a lemon tree out front and said we could pick a fruit... but all the low fruit had been picked. As for the birds... I LOVED them. You could see them peeking their faces out of their little nests and flying all around... Swallows? There were also large hawks circling around gracefully. Go nature! My main complaint was that the pool areas were not clean. The jacuzzi was not hot at all, but a sort of luke warm, and it had a filthy ring of brown dirt and people skin around it. The water was murky. The pool is not heated and could also use a little cleaning. I told the owner and he said he'd take care of it. The play and barbecue areas were nice that they were there, but one of the swings was broken and quite a few things appeared to be in disrepair. So, yes, there are things you can complain about if you really want to, but overall, it's a good hotel and I'd keep staying there. read more

It was a regular "you get what you pay for" hotel with a 3 star rating in my opinion. I was not gonna rate. But the lady working at the front desk needs to learn how to talk to customers. She was very mean and agressive for no reason. At the check-in, we upgraded the room for $50. During the checkout, we told that we were not satisfied with the room upgrade. We firstly asked for a better view from room and there was no any nice view at all, wifi was not working, water was very weak, hair dryer was not working. So we asked for that $50 refund because it didnt worth it, specially when there was only us and 1 more customer staying at the whole hotel. And we were totally ok if they didnt accept. But suddenly she became agressive and started arguing with us. She blamed that we didnt tell these problems before because we were planning to make this complain and ask money back in the end?? And even if she refund money back, we would still give 1 star?? Lol what a mentality?? We just left. Dont even waste a second by answering these kind of people. They just drain your energy... Noticed immediately that there was standing water around the toilet. TOILET LEAK!!! Wrap you mind around that. Called front desk, they wanted us to wait 15 minutes for someone. Oh NO! Toilet leaks are not going to be fixed at 10pm. We requested another room. We were given room # 62. An ADA room ( handicapped). important to note. This room was across the dark parking lot - faraway from the lobby. Immediately we saw standing water at the foot of one of the beds. No ceiling leak, but still a mystery. we put the only foot towel provided on top of it. And tried to avoid it. The "fun" only starts here. There was NO TOILET PAPER. AT ALL. NO BACKUPS NO KLEENEX AT ALL Only an empty box container. Imagine if one had been a handicapped person needing TP at 10pm at night across a large dark parking lot!! We sent out teenage daughter to get TP from the front desk. They only gave her one roll, no Kleenex one would think, that they would provide an extra to keep in the closet, but no! Closet only had an old rusty walker and two old pillows WITHOUT COVERS! GROSS!! Who uses motel pillows without covers? Health violation # 6. So many health violations to keep track of. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HEALTH VIOLATION. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! The fun continued. So around 10:30pm we proceeded to open the beds. NO TOP SHEETS!! Gross! Only fitted sheets! Imagine trying to sleep against old blankets that possibly hundreds or thousands of people have slept against. This is the type of motel that probably doesn't wash the blankets, by the looks of the towels. (towels were old , worn, stained and HAD HAIR ON THEM!!!) This time I called the front desk and asked them to deliver top sheets to our room. About 10 minutes later, the mom and her son showed up. ( this is family business, mom and daughter wore the same religious garb and the son looked like the mom) I showed the mom the lack of sheets and the water on the floor. No apologies, no excuses. She did bring two extra nasty towels to make a total of 4 towels for a room that slept four. After they left I pulled out the beds to check for bedbugs. This definitely the type of motel that would have bedbugs. Amazing! no bedbugs but GREEN MOLD ON FLOOR AT HEAD OF BOTH BEDS. HEALTH HAZARD!! it was quite obvious that the beds had never been pulled out for cleaning. I wish I had taken a picture but I was too tired. But the "fun' didn't end there. The heater only had two settings - 85 degrees or off. Even though the temperature number appeared to change, IT DID NOT WORK. My husband had to open the sliding glass door at 2am to release the inferno. We turned the blast furnace back on at 7 am when we were trying to escape the hellhole. But wait! There's more! We opened the room fridge only to find a brown liquid on the door and on the floor of the fridge. The fridges are never cleaned. Again, there's more! The tv must use old antenna. No cable or satellite. Remember the old fuzzy lines and static? Old folks would remember this as classic antenna reception. this is an old motel - think 1970's Which brings up an important point, because this is such an old motel, there are NO USB PLUGS. You need to bring your own cubes to charge your devices. FALSE ADVERTISING! This motel advertises CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. OH HELL NO! That was the first thing the daughter said when we tried to check in early. No breakfast, just oatmeal and some old, dehydrated oranges. No coffee in lobby, no place to sit down in the tiny lobby. Old fashioned drip coffee makers in room, but no creamers. Daughter did recommend a place down the road that served breakfast. Close to the Comfort Inn that you should stay at inside of this health hazard place that calls itself a Best Western. This motel should be reported for health violations and for false advertising. Due to its age, it should be brought up to code and turned into housing for the homeless. Best use for it. AGAIN. DO NOT STAY HERE. STAY AWAY. THERE IS A COMFORT INN less than a mile toward the park. read more

Awesome location right outside of the Sequoia national park. Booked this right after leaving the park. Room was ok. There is no WIFI or service here other than in the main office. The room has no cell service at all. Easy check in and check out. read more
