I went to this school all four years and it's the biggest joke of an education system I've been in. It makes sense to see why most of the US sees Florida as the lack in IQ and education state coming to these school grounds. The staff barely taught the correct curriculum when needed and didn't offer proper guidance too. If you wanted to talk to your guidance counselor about classes or progress and opportunities for career growth they would be impossible to find unless you were an IB student. Even when emailed they'd tell you to meet them on a day which would be 2 weeks out and still not be found. The students come from a wide array of slums and hoods which is very unattractive. It makes me happy to know I graduated a prison like system and now in college talking to advisors that HELP their students to become a better person and am now on a career path to medical excellence to provide to a family someday far out of this joke state and tell them to throw out that reunion letter when I get it...

While the school presents itself as caring and faith-centered, many teachers and administrators create an environment that feels judgmental and discouraging. Several teachers make rude or sarcastic comments toward students. Mr. Picon often makes snarky remarks and argues with students in an unprofessional way. Mrs. Rodriguez has also made passive-aggressive comments, including responding sarcastically when students are confused. Many students complain about how discouraging she can be. Mrs. Beal is also known for profiling students based on one mistake and continuing to treat them differently afterward. Students feel that she gossips about them with other teachers and administrators instead of handling situations professionally. She frequently walks the halls looking for minor uniform or dress code violations, such as rolled skirts, AirPods, lanyards, or even students wearing the "wrong" shirt on certain days. When confronted, she often comes across as rude and judgmental and does not show the grace or understanding that the school claims to value, despite constantly referring students back to the handbook. Mrs. Shawver is also difficult for many students to approach because of her rude, snappy attitude and the way she speaks to students. Mr. Amadeo frequently pushes his personal political beliefs onto students, even during biblical discussions where politics should not be the focus. He often presents his personal opinions as completely correct because "the Bible says so" and makes students feel unintelligent for questioning or disagreeing with him. Students have felt embarrassed in front of the class after being called "stupid" and "an idiot" for thinking that way and treated like their opinions were worthless for simply challenging a point or asking questions. Some staff members seem more focused on catching students doing wrong than helping them. Mrs. Fox and Mrs. Cole are known for strict dress code enforcement and often come across as judgmental when disciplining students. Some punishments also feel humiliating rather than helpful. There have been reports of inappropriate comments from staff, including Mrs. Cole calling girls "sluts" for rolling their skirts. Mr. Peters, one of the vice principals, often makes students feel intimidated rather than supported. Mr. Purtic makes some students uncomfortable by discussing personal topics too often and showing favoritism. Coach Leighton has also asked students overly personal questions that felt inappropriate. Overall, the environment at Calvary feels overly judgmental. Students often feel constantly watched, even outside of school, and there are concerns about administrators monitoring students' social media activity. The administration's handling of sensitive situations can also feel humiliating instead of supportive. Students are sometimes punished without clear explanations beyond being told to "refer to the handbook." As a Christian school, faith is emphasized, but students who struggle with faith or ask questions can sometimes feel judged instead of encouraged. Staff members also tend to involve themselves heavily in students' personal lives. There has also been a noticeable decline in student satisfaction, with many students wanting to transfer or leave the school. The school also places extremely high expectations on teenagers while reacting harshly when students make normal teenage mistakes. Instead of helping students grow or learn from situations, many students feel dehumanized, judged, and labeled for small things. The constant pressure, monitoring, and fear of punishment becomes emotionally exhausting and can seriously affect students' mental health. As much as this school stresses grace they never show it nor practice it and highly encourages snitching. In my opinion, it may be a good school for younger students, but I would not recommend it for middle or high school.

Now with that being said, the days are winding down. It's been four long challenging years, but she has made it. This is baby girl's last year of high school....Class of 2025! Am I excited? I'm not there yet, probably might get emotional when I see her get all dolled up in her cap & gown, but I'm neutral for right now. I'm more reflecting on the journey....the many sacrifices I had to make during the transitions through Elementary, Middle and High school. I am slowly letting go of the reigns. I applied to the school and she did not make the lotto pick so I went on to the BridgePrep of Hollywood Hills. There my daughter did get picked the following week after I applied. The office staff is friendly and Mr Marcelo, the principal greeted me. Fast forward my daughter just graduated Kinder and looking forward to going to first grade. Her teacher Ms. Brevil is excellent. My daughter has learned so much. The principal Mr. Marcelo is super humble and inviting. I live in North Miami Beach area and am willing to drive to Hollywood all over again. The school truly nurtures independence, curiosity, and confidence in its students. Over the years we've watched Jack grow not only academically but also personally, developing strong communication skills, responsibility, and a genuine love of learning. One of the most special opportunities recently was his participation in the MMUN (Montessori Model United Nations) conference in New York. Seeing students represent their schools and countries on an international stage at such a young age speaks volumes about the quality of education and encouragement they receive at Montessori Institute of Broward. The leadership at the school is exceptional. Ms. E, the principal, creates a warm, supportive environment where students feel valued and inspired. She truly leads with heart and vision. Jack's Grade 4 teacher, Ms. Kay, has also been outstanding--patient, dedicated, and deeply invested in her students' growth. It is located in the Jewish Community Center however, it is NOT a religious school BUT it IS a 'spiritual' school in that the students are taught to care for one another, the greater community, the planet and environment and THEMSELVES. This being said, it is NOT some 'Hippy' school. It is a serious program and a lot is offered and expected from the students academically. I would say the classes are more akin to an undergraduate program at a good university. They are certainly far more challenging than a regular high school-private or public. The students are expected to research & write at a college level (They are WELL taught and guided to be able to do so). They all take Latin, do community service as well as internships in fields of their own interest. They research utilizing real scientific publications and are taught to properly use them. This is an exceptional college preparatory program. Upon graduation they should be able to coast on auto-pilot through an undergraduate degree. There is also a STRONG sense of community. No high school 'Clicks'. No one's excluded, there is NO bullying or teasing-PERIOD. All of these 'details' are paid close attention to by the staff. I could go on and on but , see for yourself. The headmaster's name is Wendy Weiner and she welcomes visitors. Mrs. Weiner is an exceptional human being. When she felt that South Florida was lacking an acceptable school for her two lovely daughters to attend--she OPENED her own school! Wow. That alone speaks volumes about her but she is also a warm, kind woman. She's strong and capable in a way that inspires others just through her presence. Her children are both amazing young women and demonstrate what an awe-inspiring mother Wendy is. Her eldest daughter is now attending college where she is a member of a co-ed 'Community Service' Fraternity. Clearly she is following in her parents footsteps and giving back to others. Mr. Weiner has also played an essential part in bringing Conservatory Prep to fruition. He is a warmhearted, friendly and earnest man. He works with sincerity and I swear the man has stealth skills! His modesty and humble way of keeping all the wheels in motion is admirable. A husband and wife team adds to the feeling of community that is rarely found anymore and set's a positive example for the children of a loving, intact marriage. The students, faculty and parents/guardians form a community that touches my heart and feels more like an extended family than simply an institution of learning.
