I've wanted to come to Shady Llama for years, and we finally made it out yesterday. I am so…read moredisappointed in myself for not coming all the time before this, because Shady Llama is EXCELLENT! First, the staff members are very friendly and know everything there is to know about their available wine and brews. I love that almost all (if not all) are local sips - it's really great to see all of these different places in Wimberley/Dripping Springs/Spicewood support each other. Just another reason why I love Hill Country! When I saw Lazarus Rice Lager and St. Elmo, my gluten free heart skipped a beat, because both of those brews have been treated with the enzyme that makes the brews (normally) OK for those who are gluten sensitive but not for those with celiacs. I don't miss beer, but those two brews are too delicious to pass up when I see them on tap! We also tried the Spicewood wine flight, which was one of the best wine flights I've ever had, and I cannot wait to go buy bottles of each to bring home. All 3 were delicious, crisp, robust, and beautifully paired with each other in the flight. The views were beautiful. Beautiful is honestly an understatement. I love that so much of this area is still undeveloped. I'm sure it was less developed even 5 years ago, but the views from Shady Llama while sitting in a wooden porch Adirondack chair sipping some wine is perfection. I can only imagine how beautiful it is at sunset. I do wish they had a couple more tables by those chairs so I can rest my drink, but it's uneven and probably hard to do so, so I happily will sit with my brew in hand and relax. There's also plenty of seating but not overly crowded with chairs and benches which is love, and I loved the hammocks too! This place is GREAT for families. Playgrounds, slides, almost all kids areas gated so you don't have to worry about them running into the woods with critters. Fun for all ages, and they're just far enough from the seating to minimize the noise that this kiddos love to make! I loved the llamas. Some of them were so spicy and truly just wanted the food, and I feel that. No pets, just food, and I applaud it. Some of them would let you pet them, and the personalities on some of them were REAL, but give them some food and they may let you take a picture. So much fun having them there! Add on some delicious brisket in the back (I am so sad I missed the burnt ends), and all in all, the Shady Llama is GREAT! You are also able to bring outside food, but no outside beverages! Great place and cannot wait to come back!

Gorgeous sunset views. Bar was nice. Food truck was closed and no live music on a Saturday night.read more

(From April, 2022)…read more YELP pulled up this brewery on my search for handcrafted beer. While skeptical of the location when I parked due to being right below a bridge, I was relieved upon entering, seeing the spacious seating, and being welcomed by the friendly staff, one of whom I assumed was the owner. Not sure of what to order, they suggested the beer flight. Of course! When you can't decide on one beer, get multiple ones! 4 beers in a flight, I went with a variety of flavors/styles with the IPA, blonde ale, java porter, and a chernobyl (forgot how to describe this one). I recall the porter and IPA as the ones that stood out the most. The chernobyl and blonde ale were the lighter ones. Sitting outside, I drank in solitude, thinking about how awesome the city is before my mind wandered about what makes beer so wonderful. Before you know it, all the beers in the flight had been drank. That was my cue to head out. The place serves their own cider and frozen drinks which looked appetizing. But I'm a traditionalist: breweries are for beer. And they do quite a job with that!

I'll start out if the positive: the service and crowd here are overwhelming kind, warm, and…read morepositive. When I visited it was open mic Jazz night, and it felt like a block party! The beer here though, is very, very old school. It wasn't technically deficient in any way, but I found all the beer to be pretty bland. If you're not into IPA's though, that might be a good thing. There was only one IPA on tap and it was lot like an amber ale with a very sweet caramel malt quality to it. I also felt like the prices were pretty high compared to other SATX breweries. If you don't like hops and like maltier beers and/or you're into Jazz, it's definitely worth a shot.

Ambiance was good and not a cookie cutter chain restaurant! 100% will be back and recommend. I feel some of the negative reviews are because we as Americans/texas are so use to places like Olive Garden, and that's what people expect Italian Food to be.

We were seated right away (Friday night - 645pm). There were quite a few tables full, however, the noise was very minimal. The service was absolutely exceptional (just husband and wife as servers this evening). We ordered the Mozarella sticks as an appetizer (son's favorite app), a 14" pepperoni pizza, chicken parmesan, and chicken piccata. The food was out SUPER fast, and cooked to perfection. The rolls were amazing as well, hot & fresh! Our son didn't want to stop eating the pizza, however he finally did so he wouldn't be "uncomfortable" (which is fine with me so we can have the leftovers). My husband and I finished our dishes leaving nothing to bring home from them. The portion sizes were absolutely perfect on both mine and my husbands dishes. Definitely worth the price without question. If you're looking for some tasty Italian food and excellent service, his is your spot. Lint let its location/exterior deter you. Definitely a hidden gem. Can't wait to come back for more!
