Need to get lunch, ok Badlands Bar & Grill in Wall SD. SURPRISE I was seated immediately as a loner. Menu - Rocky Moutain Oysters and Baverian Pretzels...daaahhh Yes, Oysters and Pretzels. Yeah the oysters were nicely fried, crisp on the outside, nice, soft & moist on the inside (can't believe I'm describing BB's, oh look up Rocky Mountain Oysters) The Pretzels were just soft pillowy puffs. Oh yes, had breakfast the following day

The bartender was a darling -- professional, pleasant, fun, and thoughtful. She took good care of me, and made sure I was able to get dinner even though it was close to the kitchen's closing time. Badlands Bar has been remodeled and the interior is bright and welcoming in a natural wood finish for very basic, hand built looking furniture. The restaurant bar is quite big and I can imagine it can get quite busy and accommodate a lot of people. It's very, very clean throughout. Forndinner, I had steak tips with fries -- I asked for medium rare and it came medium well. The meat was nothing special but it was definitely lean and and exactly what I was looking for after days of backpacking in the Badlands. The French fries were great, although next time I will try the coleslaw instead. The fat fried homemade bread was not as good as one of the servers said it would be. The price for my dinner was absolutely reasonable. I will definitely return after my next trip to the Badlands.

This is a must see stop in Wall, SD!…read more I was worried it'd be too much of a tourist trap. And it is touristy. But it is cool and historic, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable (certainly better than Cracker Barrel, and at least Wall Drug is a one of a kind!). I was there for the food, but the rest of my family enjoyed wandering through the shops and playing in the outdoor area. They really do have free ice water and $0.05 coffee. Mind you, the water is icy but not especially tasty (well water?), and the coffee is pretty blah, but it was charming that they maintain those prices. I had the fish and chips, and then I had a chocolate frosted donut for dessert. The fish was three small pieces, and one piece was over-fried, but the fish was flaky. It came with a pre-made, hyperprocessed tartar sauce, but one smell of that, and I decided to stick to ketchup. The fries were fine. My husband had a buffalo hot dog (he said it was fine) and the broccoli cheddar soup (he enjoyed that). The kids ordered off the kids menu. Condiments are all in single serve packets except the ketchup, which comes from a dispenser. You order at the counter, then you find a seat. There is seating for 530, which I imagine would be rough in the summer, but we were there in March, so there was plenty of seating and a very short wait to order or get food. They call your number when the food is done. I think I waited about 10 minutes, which gave me time to get drinks and read the brochure with the history of Wall Drug. There is a person who clears the tables, so you don't have to bus your own table.

On our way to Badlands National Park, we finally gave in to the endless Wall Drug billboards. There…read moreare so many you almost have to stop, and honestly, they worked. The place is massive and feels like it sits halfway between a classic tourist trap and a legitimate retail stop. Some sections were actually really fun to browse, and I enjoyed exploring the variety of shops. That said, seeing a lot of made-in-China merchandise was a bit of a deterrent for me. The dining options were on the pricey side, and the food quality was just okay, nothing memorable or to write home about. Overall, it's one of those iconic Americana roadside stops that's worth visiting once in your life, especially if you have time to spare and enjoy quirky travel experiences.

Started with a side salad. The blue cheese dressing was full of chunks of blue cheese and perfect. I'm picky on that! They didn't just use iceberg lettuce but a mix of other lettuces. I like that a lot. Whiskey tips in a sauce that was great. As promised, there was a kick. Side of beans ands they were cooked to the right al dente. Just the right spices. I felt like the portions were generous. I think two people could split that order. I would have taken leftovers but was on an expense account and wanted to try another place my second night! Not many people in town. I'm sure it's crazy in summer!

The waiter although sweet and new, had no clue what ranch dressing was or what a Moscow mule was. He kept trying to take our menus when we hadn't even ordered yet. I ordered a rattlesnake margarita and got a regular house margarita instead. My date ordered a mojito but they didn't have all the ingredients to make it. The drinks came out without much alcohol in them at all, if any, and felt that they were overpriced juice more than anything. We then ordered soft pretzel bites and beer cheese and they were hard as a rock - so bad that we sent them back. Luckily they took them off the check. Then our food finally came out - the kitchen was VERY slow - and honestly I think Tyson's frozen chicken tenders were better than these. The breading was hard as a rock, and was peeling off like they had been frozen and baked too long or something? The only good thing about the place was the fries, which were crispy and tasted fresh. The next day we left the Badlands NP and came into Wall after sunset only to find that once again, Badlands Saloon and Grille was the only restaurant open. We chose to get a bunch of snacks from the gas station instead because there is no way we would ever go back there after that poor experience. Despite the interior of the restaurant being decorated nicely, they really need to focus on the quality of the food and training staff - it has so much potential for being one of the few restaurants in Wall around the national park. But I don't recommend eating here, even if it is the only place open in all of Wall.

He said the Salty Heifer was "a damn good burger" and "one of the best" and that's high praise "even though it was overcooked!" Yes... They were all medium well. If they had been served at the requested temp... I can't even imagine... we might have bought a home in Wall tonight. The first night we tried the Buffalo Ravioli Bolognese & a steak with "seasonal veggies" (multi-colored-carrots). My Bolognese was good, but a little too much flavor on the meat sauce overwhelmed the ravioli. The Carrots with the steak were undercooked with no flavor. They really like Basalmic! its on the salads, veggie drizzle, coated the meatloaf - thinking in the bolognese too based on the flavor profile. 2nd day we got the buffalo meatloaf to share - my dad kept going on and on telling everyone how that's the best meatloaf he's ever had. It came with the carrots again & broccoli, plus mash potatoes. The Wedge Salad - probably the BEST I've ever had! We got it both nights! Now we are addicted to ordering them every time we have dinner together. I also tried the Huckleberry margarita (they were out of blackberries to make the Blackberries & Cream but I really wanted to try that too). It was sweet but unique. The ambience & decor was very attractive and part of what made us pick this restaurant first in our 3 night stay. It's on the corner down the road from Wall Drug. Beautiful white stone shopping strip. Had a gorgeous Holiday decor to it - Big tree in the front door and a few small ones. Brown leather chairs & hightop, Edison lighting everywhere, Cobblestone at the bar....Rustic and chic.

I don't know what it's like when it's busy because on the day we arrived, the entire area was a ghost town. Not even sleepy - no cars on the road and this cafe was even still opening. Walk in, order and find a seat. Not a lot of seating but there's both indoors and out. We chose to sit indoors as it was a little warm and I didn't want to be out under the sun. See pics of the food. Wanted salad. I tend to always want salad. Went with the Springfield. Crisp and fresh - really enjoyed the toppings and dressing. Harmony. That's how I'd describe this salad. I'd definitely have it again. Grabbed the Hot Springs. Wanted a cold sandwich. Wanted an Italian. Closest I could find and the vinaigrette was even on the side so I could add as much or as little as I wanted. I remember enjoying this sandwich so much I considered grabbing a second for the road. However, we're traveling and gotta try other foods and places. This would be one place I'd go back to if or when I find myself back in Rapid City. This cafe is connected to the brewery (Hay Camp Brewing). In fact, that's where the restrooms are if you need it.

When I…read moreasked her she said, "Well, I don't think too highly of the food in town but down the road I'm quite fond of the food at the Two Bit, and it just so happens they serve their full menu today." Well, following her directions I found my way to the Two Bit Saloon and Steakhouse in Quinn and I'm glad I did. I was also lucky enough to make it on a Friday because they only serve the full menu on Friday and Saturday. I had the 12 ounce ribeye with mashed potatoes, which came with the salad bar. I started with the cheeseballs, which were essentially fried cheese curds. The steak was perfectly cooked and a generous size. The homemade mashed potatoes were better than the best thanksgiving mashers. I promptly devoured the steak and potatoes leaving a completely cleaned plate. The people there were extremely friendly, and the service rivaled that of the best restaurants even with only one server working. The cook came out and spoke with us and asked how our meal was, but I let my clean plate speak for itself. The cook explained that even though the full menu is only Friday and Saturday, there is a special and limited menu every day. If I'm ever in Wall, South Dakota again or near Quinn, I would come back without hesitation.
