Westech seems to have abandon its customers in San Francisco Bay Area. Phones disconnected and website and email changed. Got my roof done 6 years ago and it started leaking right after the warranty expired. Turns out they didn't seal some of the overlapping slats correctly and didn't level things correctly so water pools instead of going towards the drain. Very disappointed. read more

I was able to get someone from Westech out to look at my leaking roof when a lot of other places were booked up. He showed up on time, was professional, and told me to expect an estimate in 1-2 weeks. 2 weeks later, I had heard nothing. Another week passed, and I emailed the business. A fourth week of nothing and I called theml. The receptionist told me that the guy who did the appraising "suggests I find another company" to do the repair, and that no more details were available. That answer alone is pretty unprofessional. If they didn't want to do the job for a reason that was going to sound bad, couldn't they have at least made up a nice-sounding excuse? And was there a need to keep me waiting for a month? read more

Working with Westech on appointment for estimate is a challenge. I called in, caught someone by surprise and they didn't answer as business. Finally was able to talk to a nice lady and she setup a call by estimator to come out sometime between July 4th week. I rec'd a call from estimator that they would be out at 10AM, was notified at 10:30 he was late, showed at 10:45..no biggie so far. Estimator for some reason thought it was repair, have flat roof, 50 feet off the ground with easy access off deck in back with 8 ft ladder. I open back gate, go thru process of unlocking everything, they comes a knock at the back door. He can't go on the roof? I ask him why you asked me to open up back to get on the roof and he says, he can't go up on the roof. Barely could speak english, nice guy I'm sure but I had a reason for getting the estimate. I need the whole roof done, neighbor might even jump in for 2 roof scenario. No call back, no reply, no deal. I need to be a roofing company. I would be printing money right now. Customer service is nil. Done and looking elsewhere. read more

The entire experience from the first phone call to the last day of work was professional, courteous, and respectful. Steve was on-time to every appointment, explained everything in detail (never in a rush, took the time to answer questions), is clearly knowledgeable about the roofing business (20+ years?), and straight-forward/honest. Through the whole process of obtaining the required licenses, clearing the roof, putting in the new roof, etc- Steve kept me updated and informed. Price- I got quotes from several other roofing companies and some were just plain shady (one said he could begin work the next day and mentioned nothing about permits). Steve's quote was no-nonsense, reasonable, and clear not to mention almost a thousand dollars less than some others. I highly recommend Westech. Steve and Westech replaced our roof last December. I should note, it's barely rained since then, so I can't 100% attest as to its performance. That being said, every step of the process was ideal. Steve was the most genial and professional of the people we had come out to bid. The price was competitive. All contact with the central office was quick and professional (emailing bid, signed contract, etc.). The job itself took two days and Steve was regularly supervising/participating with the crew, who were all cool. My wife thought they had gotten some spots of adhesive or something spattered on the front windows, and I asked them to go back up and clean that off, which they happily did although I'm pretty sure it was not from them at all. They followed up with a call eight months later to see how things are doing. Which prompted me to write this review, since I remembered how smoothly things had gone before. read more

They demo'd the old tar and gravel roof which had several leaks and put on a new bitumen roof. Steve (the owner) was excellent to work with, professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. Westech recently replaced our roof. I could not have asked for better service. They were prompt in their replies, clear in the information they provided, and helpful. Jin was great. From the time I emailed them, to the time our roof was installed, it took less than three weeks. They took care of everything, making the process very easy. Steve came out and did an estimate a week after I first emailed. Their prices were better than the two other options that I found. Steve Hong is a very nice, honest-seeming guy who I believe does good work, and he and his office were a pleasure to deal with and kept all their promises. That said, I take issue with his business practice and must dock him two stars. During the recent storms I experienced bad water leakage into my garage. I called Summit, Steve came out promptly, looked at my roof (problem was mostly a blown drainage pipe) and told me it would take 3 guys one day to fix. His office sent me a proposal the next morning - not cheap, but not outrageous - which I signed, and we set things up for the following morning. They (Steve plus 2 other workers) showed up on schedule at around 8:15, and got right to work. They were done at 11:30 and Steve asked for payment. I asked if there would be a discount, because the quote had been for a full day. He said no, that he had already paid his workers for a full day's work. He also said that if the job had taken more than a day, he would have abided by the original quoted price. That's nice but it doesn't apply to my job. So that's the story. Again, he was a nice guy, seems professional etc. (I will find out in the next rains whether he did a proper job) and I am not angry, but I believe he should have discounted his price as the job took 3 hours instead of 8 hours. I give all this detail out of fairness to Steve, and because other people might disagree with me: you can make your own judgment. For example, you could say that I paid for the task getting done, and their internal labor time is their own business - but it still doesn't feel quite right to me. read more

Westech might do quality work, but I never had a chance to find out. Called to get an estimate on a skylight replacement, was told it would be a few $100 and I should pull the old one off and call Westech back. They would build a new skylight in 2-3 days. A few days later when I had removed the old skylight and called back, I was now told that it would be well over $1000 and would take WEEKS to get a new skylight installed. Was left stranded with a huge hole in my roof and rain coming. I found another roofer. Very disapointed. read more

We bought a house in the Outer Sunset last April knowing it would need the roof replaced soon. We hoped to make it through this winter but in early December we were hit with a major down pour and the water came pouring in the house. We contacted Westech in a panic, and they were fantastic. They came to see the roof, gave us an estimate and did a patch on the leak for free. They were flexible with us in scheduling the roof replacement as I had just had a baby so it was helpful to wait a few months until she was a little older before getting the work done. After the job was finished, my husband and I had a small list of concerns, and they were incredibly responsive, came to the house right away and thoroughly went through our issues with us and taking care of any outstanding items. Steve (Owner) was really knowledgeable and experienced. The roof was top notch in quality of execution. They were in and out in a very timely manner. His level of professionalism really drove the decision for us. His follow up was good too, My only complaint was that we have a small but dense evergreen tree in the front of the house, and they forgot to cover it . . . and thus it had lots of nails and roofing materials stuck in it afterwards (which I just cleaned up). Westech Roofing and Steve got the job done and then some. Our house has a new extension done about 13 years ago. But this new section of the roof started to leak about 1 year ago. I called Westech and another roofing company to come out to give me an estimate. Steve came out and gave me a written estimate within 2 days. But it took the other roofer 2 weeks to send me the estimate. After reviewing the estimes we picked Westech. There was a 2 weeks wait list but it was worth the wait. Westech responded to my request for a repair of a roof leak by sending out Steve, the owner, within a few days. They submitted a bid and scheduled the appointment promptly. Steve oversaw all the work, which was done within one day. The work was through, the workers cleaned up afterwards and, importantly for neighborly relations, took pains to cover the neighbor's roof they had to access to work on ours. The workers even removed their shoes when walking through our house. I definitely recommend their services. One of my coworkers recommended me to them, due to the good experience he had with this company. My roof was in really bad condition at the time. My roof had a leak and the wood on the roof was damaged. After receiving the recommendation from my coworker, I called immediately and scheduled an appointment with Westech Roofing Company. They were friendly and very easy to talk to. Steve came to my house just as planned to take a look at my roof, and we discussed what we can do to resolve the problem. Upon coming to a mutual agreement, Steve brought his workers and worked on my roof right away. On the first day, he brought a total of seven workers, and on the second day he brought only 5 workers. This was a good amount of workers because the area was not crowded yet they worked very quickly and efficiently. Atop of their hard work, they are very clean. I did not have to put any effort in cleaning up after them once the job was finished. Steve and his workers are very nice and easy people to work with. I am highly satisfied with the work they did on my roof. I highly recommend this company! They are good workers and finished working on my roof in less than two days. Briefly, Westech was great. They provided the lowest bid out of three for a full roof replacement job on an apartment building in The Richmond District of San Francisco. They seemed the most professional out of the three. Their bid and description of work was the most detailed and professional of the three. They required the least amount of money up front. They included additional work (offering to fix a broken roof door). They showed up on time, were courteous, prompt, professional, and did the work in just 3 days. Top shelf all the way. read more

I am very pleased with the Westech Roofing Company. Steve was great, always on time, kept me informed as to any changes. He and his crew were extremely hard working and very conscientious. Jin in the office was a great communicator, via phone calls and emails (attachments of contract and changes to contract) which made my task of getting a roof on my house an easy project and, believe me, my roof was not an easy task - it had six skylights, one that was a very odd shape and had to fit securely over a large atrium, it had to be custom made and two other skylights had to have proper venting. The rest of the roof needed to have all the bitumen redone and the composite shingles needed to be replaced as well as replacing some of the plumbing vents and replacing the chimney pipe and cap. Steve also did additional flashing in an area that should have been done by the previous roofer but wasn't and had resulted in some leaking - this illustrated to me that Steve knows exactly what he is doing and is very proud of doing an excellent job. What more can I say, Steve and his crew worked diligently,cleaned up the area around the house after every work day, even checking weather reports so as not to compromise the integrity of the existing roof - this was all done during the month of December!! They also handled the parking issues and communicated with the scaffolding company, so if you need a new roof, I highly recommended the Westech Roofing Company. read more
