5 years ago, I bought a Navien combi heater unit from them and in those 5 years, I've had them come…read morein 4 times to service the unit. On 3 of those times, they were extremely inefficient and wasted a great deal of time by doing the following: - calling their manager to get instructions on how the unit worked - bringing an instruction manual and spending several hours reading it ( later we found out that this person was a trainee and was learning on the spot ) - during the lengthy maintenance service, we'd peak in on them and noticed they were just sitting there staring blankly at the unit for over 15 minutes!! Like he was praying to the Navien gods or something!! Basically, we got the impression that they would take an inordinate amount of time servicing the unit in order to charge us an excessive amount for an anual maintanence. Each time they visited us, the service cost was around $500. On one occasion they had to do a special descaling process on the unit and that costed $650. We were really suspicious of why a 5 year old unit would require such costly maintenance ( our prior unit was 30 years old and only required servicing 3 times in that time span ), so we called around to other companies in the area and got a quote from them and none of them were quoting us anywhere near the amount the Good Gooys were. Just be very careful when they send over a "specialist" to take a look at your unit. They may be sending you an intern and even when they do send an experienced repairman, they seem to have a minimum service time that they'll spend looking at your unit regardless of the condition the unit is in. Don't be surprised if they charge you $500 to wipe some oil stains off your unit and quote you for 6 hours of work. EDIT: I just added proof that I did in fact purchase a system from The Good Guys as well as an invoice for one of their visits.

Needless to say we were in Bellingham when it happened. We were given Ray's name by another plumber who lived in Burnaby and who was not keen to take on this job in Richmond. Ray came over to see me at 10PM on Tuesday evening (I heard about the bad new from my gardener Tuesday around 1PM). Wednesday morning Ray temporarily restored our water supply by borrowing our good hearted neighbor's water supply (with her permission of course), all that he needed to do was hook together our garden water hose outlets. That allowed us to stay in our home, saved us a bunch of money in hotel charges. Ray gave us a reasonable estimate and immediately started work on Wednesday, by tunneling the new water line under a 6 feet section of concrete aggregate, he saved us the expense of cutting and rebuilding that section of concrete, by Saturday afternoon he managed to completely restore our water supply. We now have an all new "indestructible" water line into the Richmond house. While the house is not all that old, the buried water lines in the area we live in are much older than the house itself and are prone to bursting as they continue to age over time. Ray is the best, he worked hard and he worked smart, I don't believe we could have found a better man for the job regardless of price. In fact, Rick was one of only three companies that actually got back to me and quoted the job. He said there would be no problem, he would honor the price and we booked a time to begin the work. The technician arrived right on time and early enough for me to review things before I left for work. These guys are plumbers, they don't cut drywall and they certainly don't patch it. I had done some extensive exploration on my own ahead of time and had things opened up enough for him to do his job. The entire project took three days to complete and at the end of each day any mess was cleaned up and I had running water. As a tradesman myself I not only notice but also appreciate quality work. No disappointments here. Pipes are run straight and parallel and are secured neatly. This was no small job and it certainly wasn't cheap, but it was a price I fully expected to pay. There were no surprises and I paid what I was quoted. A job well done.

Marc noticed that the fitter made a mistake and made sure to make me aware but he did this in a very professional way that didn't call down the other contractor. This really sat well with us and that issue is now being resolved.
