This school finally opened after two years of administration issues. The school principal and staff…read morewere phenomenal! However, NONE are returning next year 2025/2026. The children did their best with what they had. No cafeteria, no proper playground for upper grades, no multipurpose room, and no space - classes were combined. I was part of the community engagement program to promote community in the school. It included a grant and the money was used for other purposes, because it was unallocated funds. The board members are thieves and liars. The principal took on two years of debt (nearly $3m) and because enrollment was low, it was not able to get the financial support from the state. Explore Prime Academy Board members will gaslight your questions and give you a "let's wait and see" response for what's coming next year. Mind you, Explore has its own board and has NOTHING to do with Orange Unified School District. As a parent, I was really hoping this would be the school my daughter would attend for the rest of her school age years. The expansion was slated for K-12. Unfortunately, the nepotism with board members/ former board members hiring friends and relatives to fulfill staff roles without any training or ever working in education, has left me in a lurch in trying to find a middle school for my daughter. I am angry and heartbroken with how her childhood education has been affected. And wish all the parents better fortune if they find another school. Most teachers are going to Magnolia Public Schools and I strongly recommend parents looking into alternatives to Explore Prime Academy. This review is for the Handy Elementary School location as an Election Day polling place, not for…read morethe quality or skill of the school as part of the OUSD-Orange Unified School District. I have no really in depth familiarity with that. I'm a registered voter in Orange and receive the vote by mail ballot. As that, we mailing voters have the option to drop off the official ballot at a polling site. I'd driven by the Handy School already that election day and knew it was an official polling site for Orange. Why? Because was clearly and well-marked from the street a place to VOTE that day! Now, you have to know I am temporarily disabled and get highly fatigued if not exhausted from even small errands or tasks. So, by the end of the day, I was kvetching about going out to cast my vote. Then my own values about greatly valuing our right and ability to vote kicked in around 7, and I filled my ballot out and signed, hauled my tired bod into my car, drove over and into the parking lot. Well, thank God/dess for all the helpful little lovingly handwritten signs pointing to and guiding me to the voting room! I'm emphasizing those lil signs so much because while which room was clear from the parking lot. But seeing this is an elementary school, there were chain link fences and locked doors for all those school kids and staff's safety. How on earth was I to get IN to cast (drop off) my vote? And it was now about 15 minutes before the polls closed. I didn't want to get stuck circling those chain links and miss out on voting! Then I noticed it! One more little, and I do mean truly small, handwritten "Vote" sign, this one with a hand drawn arrow guiding me to the hard to see break in the chain link fence which led to the entrance to the polling place room. I walked in with my envelope. The poll workers were all so cheerful, friendly, and helpful. They pointed me to The Box. Popped my ballot in. And then I could wear my "I voted" sticker with veracity!

I had the best time in this school better than my regular school, teachers are cool with you, and I feel like I learned more here than my other school because I had a better connection with my teachers and if you like socializing you can get to know everyone because this school is small and you'll see everybody no matter what. This is a parent of a very troubled student writing this review…read more My daughter had a ton of issues when she went into the school and was way behind her junior year. The principal there helped us and worked full-time for over a year to help our daughter graduate. The principal has a PhD in education and chooses to work at the school to make a difference this lady is a saint. The principal is well-educated and sets directives and goals that every child can achieve at school to graduate and move on. She is determined to help each and every student on an individual basis her and her staff are all on the same page. I cannot stress my last statement enough. Richland High School is lucky to have this principle. This principle is truly an advocate for children who are in need of extra help. Not to mention Robin in the office is the most helpful person on top of it every single day attendance, schedules , you name it she knows it. Their fundraisers promise field trips, supplies, additional activities, etc. Then it gets spent on a P.E coach for the students for the school year. I am a little confused because P.E is supposed to be ran by the staff of teachers. Does this mean Imperial teachers don't want to conduct P.E for their students? They would rather spend public donated funds (at least $30K BTW) so they don't have to teach P.E? Other elementary schools I have worked at have teachers collaborate on a P.E curriculum for their students. It is ridiculous to spend that much money on a resource Imperial teachers should be supplying, than have a school look as old and run down as it does. The playground is peeling, old, broken and sad looking. There are no covered walkways for students to walk to the outdoor benches for lunch. Which means during cold, rainy days when they eat outdoors, their food is soaked by the time they get to the benches. There is NO indoor cafeteria and no auditorium for student ceremonies, performances, etc. For an affluent area to be capable of providing at least some basic school amenities like an auditorium or indoor cafeteria (at least a covered pathway) through fundraisers, why is this not happening? Underprivileged areas are much nicer looking and provide true additional activities for their students without asking for additional donations aside from the hundreds already donated... apparently for P.E coaches. Did I mention that parents are still asked throughout the school year to donate even more money for field trips and classroom supplies? This is an addition to the hundreds we have already donated for their main fundraisers and additional "eat at such and such place these days for even more donations!" I am tapped out. I do not want to pay for a P.E coach because the teaching staff is either lazy or privileged. If it is a staffing issue, then take it to the OUSD district and get them to subsidize most of it, if not ALL of it. Or collaborate and do it yourselves. Other elementary schools do. Why do we need to pay over $30k so Imperial teachers don't? Use that money to actually go towards the students. Not hide behind student use, but really its so teachers don't have to teach an hour of P.E, twice a week. There is no excuse to have raised over $100k since my child has began attending Imperial and have such a worn down playground, no covered walkway to their outdoor "cafeteria", and no actual auditorium for school events. Imperial uses their library space as a small, area for ceremonies and events. It feels like I am attending someones last minute thrown together bible study where you sit wherever you can find a plastic chair or stand against a wall or bookshelf. So tacky. And THIS is an Anaheim Hills Elementary school everybody! PTA, Principal, and staff should be investigated. Do better for your schools OUSD.

The only big HUGE problem is that the parents do not respect any of the rules at the parking lot or pick up areas some parents are even rude to the teachers when they are doing traffic control.
