This amazing school receives HIGH MARKS...for everything. Caring, thoughtful, beehive of activity…read more The students I met are friendly, super helpful, I discovered when we attended registration, and this place FEELS like a private school, with the attitude of "We're all in this, together." The faculty and administration are clued in to their students in supportive strategies that work academically as well as inter-personally. Adults model what they're requiring re:students ' behavior. Love that this Charter School requires uniforms. Love that their cafeteria prepares fresh, locally sourced food to the students every single day. Genius! Loving that all this is coming from the once embattled OUSD-what a complete turnaround for the better, in the past 15-20 years. All the fundamentals are working together for the greater good at Santiago Charter Middle School. Grateful, grateful, grateful. AND...they still have room for new students.

Santiago Charter Middle School is a fantastic school! I recommend Santiago to any parent without…read morehesitation or qualification. When you visit the campus, you will immediately notice the caring atmosphere because every staff member is amazing (shoutout to Dr. D and Mrs. Pedroza, co principals, for giving this school the big heart that it has)!! If you're on the fence, give them a chance by attending one of the campus events to hear what they have to offer and what sets them apart from other schools. For example, how many middle schools offer international travel opportunities? My daughter went on a 10+ day trip to Europe and made wonderful memories with her friends. Again, this school has it all (including pre-AP!) and so many parents I've talked to all agree it was amazing for each of their kids. No regrets!

So far so good. Great curriculum compared to the other schools in the area. This includes the local…read moreprivate schools. The kids wear uniforms which are very reasonably priced and cuts distractions substantially at the school. We were paying for private school the first 6 years of elementary school and found the curriculum hear to be significantly better.. and no tuition! The school offers math club an hour before and an hour after school. There is also homework club, which is supervised, an hour after school. These options are at no extra charge. Downside? Yup... after school pickup has the same idiot parents as all the other schools. Taking advantage of the homework club or math club after school definitely makes picking up a much more bearable task.

honestly dude this school is way too strict like the gum + shirt rule is really unnecessary, like…read moreas long as u dont stick the gum anywhere thats inconvenient and messy, whats the point? chewing in general sends more blood and oxygen to your brain and studies show people score higher on focus and reaction time tests when chewing gum. ALSO BE WARY OF MRS. FORBES. SHE ACTS NICE BUT NO SHE IS NOT. She also said she was "ashamed" and "embarrassed" about her Dutch/American culture, then proceeded to talk about... Mooncakes. This could have offended a LARGE group of people honestly. Imagine being American or Dutch and hearing that she would be embarrassed to do an assignment on culture. NOT OK. yall EDUCATION IS A PRIVILEGE, SCHOOL IS NOT.

My daughter has been attending Oakridge for the last 6 years and we are extremely happy!…read more The small size allows the teachers and staff to provide a level of attention and support that is difficult to find in a larger school. Academics are prioritized but not to an extent which is stressful or anxiety-provoking for students. Oakridge continually scores in the top 10% nationally on standardized testing, but this isn't surprising given Oakridge's extraordinary and passionate teachers. Perhaps what I love MOST about Oakridge (and what sets them apart from other schools) is the religious flexibility, inclusivity and emphasis on character development. Character development is part of the curriculum for all students, with the option for families to incorporate Judeo-Christian Bible study if so desired. Our family is a mix of backgrounds and religions which makes this flexibility so incredibly special and one of a kind. Oakridge genuinely celebrates all cultures and faiths and provides a welcoming, safe and judgement-free space for its students. My daughter is challenged to excel, supported as an individual, and encouraged to be thoughtful, confident, and kind. We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a special school community.
