My family, friends, and I recently visited this school to watch a high school playoff game. The gym itself was very nice, clean, and well-maintained. Game volunteers/parents assisting with the snack bar and ticket takers were extremely welcoming and friendly. The bleachers were very comfortable and provided a great view of the court. The only negative issue we experienced was the temperature change: one minute it was chilly, the next, extremely warm. Spectators could feel these changes instantly as the heat and cold came from these huge black, vinyl/rubber, tubular-like thingys. Other than this, our visit was a positive experience, and our school's win made things that much better. read more

Do not bring your kids to this school, they do not prepare students for success. From the time my children entered 9th grade, I asked the counselors how to prepare them for the IB program because I wanted them to have the best chance at getting into a good college. Since I didn't study in the U.S., I depended on the school's guidance. Instead, I was misled. When I first asked, the counselor told me to wait a year. By the next year, I was told it was already too late. Later, they told me that the ACT wasn't required, which is technically true for some colleges but if you want your child to have a real chance at highly selective or Ivy League-type schools, strong ACT/SAT scores are still very important. That guidance was never made clear. Meanwhile, both of my kids have 4.0 GPAs here, but when it came time for standardized testing, they were completely unprepared. My senior son tested very low in math, English, and reading. After paying for outside tutoring, his English scores improved, but in math he is still struggling because he doesn't even have a solid foundation in algebra. That should have been addressed long before his senior year, yet the school failed to provide the preparation he needed. Now I am spending a lot of money on private tutoring and outside academies just to make sure my children have a chance. For my daughter, I am already relying on an external program because I know I cannot depend on this school or its counselors to prepare her. Bottom line: if you want your children to be prepared for college admissions, especially competitive ones, do not rely on this school. The lack of proper guidance and academic foundation has been extremely frustrating and costly. read more

Ahhh, high school. Ten years ago I graduated from Canyon High. It was an alright place. I was never a huge fan of school, but I can't really complain. I would never review a school, but I wanted to put the word out that every Tuesday night they are featuring food trucks in the student parking lot from 5:30 - 9:00. I went last night and the lineup of trucks was pretty good. If you live in the area and you like food trucks, you should go check it out one week. Some of the proceeds support the school band. I come here to support the Gourmet Food Trucks that are here every Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 pm. You can follow #CurbsideBites on twitter for the line up and they also have a page on facebook, I believe. The trucks rotate, so if you see a truck you like, its best to try it in case they don't rotate back in. The best way to enjoy a food truck is to come with friends or family, and "divide and conquer", where each person gets an item or 2 from a truck, meet up a the table and share a bite from each place. Most trucks can offer utensils to cut your food, and there's plenty of napkins or food trays to sort the buffet. This location offers limited tables and chairs. On a nice evening, dining al fresco is very nice. Free parking and free admission. read more

As a student, I don't think I truly appreciated this campus... I didn't think anything was wrong, but I didn't think it was the greatest campus either. However, now as an alumni who work in Education.. another high school far away from Canyon HS, I'm starting to realize that this HS was pretty good relatively.. My biggest contribution to the campus was being part of the marching band, Go Comanches! I believe we were called the Golden Warrior Regiment? I miss being part of a student group, but definitely don't miss the brown, gold, and white uniforms... with feathered hats. Anyway, I met some fantastic people and I'm proud to stay that we still hang out during breaks and holidays.. we all met at Canyon, grew to become successful nerds, and managed to still stay in touch despite our different life paths. :o) read more

On the ridiculous security called "random" tardy sweeps: 1) Day before the AP US History test! 2) Holding Cup of Noodle and a Monster in my hand, Late to school because late night cram. 3) Question by the security rent-a-cop about my school ID. 4) Showing him Michael Le, instead on Isaac S. 5) As I hassled him saying that I was even later to class now, I ignorantly pull the race card, even thought Asians are the model minority. Moral of the Story: Don't come to school looking like your hungover (I wasn't, just alittle bit high). As true with all profiling, dress nicely so the rent-a-cop thinks you're a good kid in a rough break. School IDs are easy to re-create, always have one with someone else's name. If you're late, don't go to school...call in and pretend to be your parent. read more

My brother went to this school and it was ok.... but now most of the staff is not working well with parents. When a situation happens with a student, they need to be more supportive and help others. read more

Not sure were else to write a review on this one, but we went for the food trucks here. We took our own table and chairs because we heard it gets crowded, which it did. Most places that have the food trucks come don't even bring out any tables and chairs at all. So it was great that they did that, but we knew we weren't getting their early and wanted to make sure we had a place to sit. They had great trucks, they lines weren't too long, and the service was great. We even had a couple of Anaheim's finest (police officers) sit with us and have dinner. How cool! read more
