From our very first campus tour, we were struck by the warm and welcoming environment. Jennie, the admissions director, was incredibly professional and thorough. She took the time to walk us through the campus, explain the school's philosophy, conduct a thoughtful assessment of our child, and patiently answer all of our questions. Compared to other schools we toured, Fairmont stood out as organized and personal. We left feeling confident that this would be the right fit for our son. Our oldest child enrolled in the summer program at 3.5 years old. The transition from daycare couldn't have gone more smoothly. While he initially missed his old friends, he was enthusiastic about the wide variety of engaging activities Fairmont offered. By the end of the summer, he was already familiar with the staff, teachers, and layout of the campus, which made starting the school year a breeze. His teacher that fall was kind, nurturing , and invested in his development--academically, emotionally, and socially. As parents, we had complete peace of mind leaving him in her care. Our oldest thrived at Fairmont, which is why enrolling our other two children felt like a natural choice. This past year, they completed 3rd grade, 1st grade, and Pre-K, and each of them has had a fantastic experience. The school has prepared them for life with strong academic skills and a strong set of Christian values. The facilities are above par, super clean and constantly being updated. The classrooms are equipped with Smart Boards and the classroom materials are current. The middle school operates on a "one to one" lap top program. The teachers and staff are caring and get to know each child as an individual. My children have completely different learning styles and personalities. They both love their school and each has been accommodated with their learning styles in the classroom. Lots of activities are offered outside of the classroom. A great after school sports program, dance classes, music lessons, tutoring, are just a few of the things that are offered. The principal is amazing and has made great strides in keeping St. John's one of the best schools in the area by improving curriculum and overall student growth. As a parent I feel the investment that I have made in my child's education at St. John's is one of the best decisions I have made. First, I want to say that my interactions with the front office have been wonderful. Everyone has been professional, helpful, and welcoming. You can tell there is so much thought and effort put into what the children are doing and learning each day. Ms. Ellie deserves a special mention. We visited A LOT of private schools trying to find the right fit for my child. My child is not always the easiest, and finding a school where he would truly be understood, supported, and accepted was extremely important to us. He has absolutely THRIVED at this school. They have been willing to work with him, meet him where he is, and do whatever they can to help him succeed. That means more to our family than I can put into words. The communication is also amazing. The teachers update parents through the app and send pictures, so you actually get to see what your child is doing throughout the day. They also send home activities and homework connected to what the kids worked on that day, which I absolutely love. Academics are prioritized but not to an extent which is stressful or anxiety-provoking for students. Oakridge continually scores in the top 10% nationally on standardized testing, but this isn't surprising given Oakridge's extraordinary and passionate teachers. Perhaps what I love MOST about Oakridge (and what sets them apart from other schools) is the religious flexibility, inclusivity and emphasis on character development. Character development is part of the curriculum for all students, with the option for families to incorporate Judeo-Christian Bible study if so desired. Our family is a mix of backgrounds and religions which makes this flexibility so incredibly special and one of a kind. Oakridge genuinely celebrates all cultures and faiths and provides a welcoming, safe and judgement-free space for its students. After talking with a few other families, it seems this is a sentiment shared by others, which is disappointing to hear. As someone who also works with the public, I know that everyone has "off" days.
