Radiohead actually recorded an album here - their best one. "Oaks Computer." But the mall has gone downhill since then. Literally, due to tectonic plate shifting and swamp-induced mudslides. It's 57 feet lower than it was then. Psych. The West Oaks Mall is a sad relic of the past. There was a time when this kind of mall was everywhere and it would have been thriving and alive, but these days it's just kind of gathering dust. Yes it's still a decent mall but it reminds me of one of the malls up in Detroit that I went to this past summer, because it is falling into disrepair a little bit and it does look very dated and old and some of the stores are going under and other ones are just sitting there gathering dust. We didn't find anything we wanted at the Victoria's Secret and we didn't really expect to. It's not a good mall for people watching and it's not really a good mall for finding lots of different options but if what you want is cheap discount stores there are quite a few of those in here picking up the pieces after all the high-end stuff has moved away, or will soon. And when rain falls on a bunch of oak trees... it Wets Oaks.

Ghost town. 6pm Monday super creepy

This place is becoming the next Sharpstown Mall. Nobody shops here anymore. It looks like a ghost town. A good setting for the next zombie or virus apocalypse movie. They still had xmas decorations up In Feb. Its eerie and awkward. It's so strange to because its not like the area isnt busy. Not sure whats going on but this place is on its way down unless the property management does something to get more tenants in and find a way to attract more people. Right now the only thing here that might be worth going to is the movie theater. Other than that stick with memorial city mall.

The West Oaks Mall was getting really run down and was hardly a shopping destination. Then it got a great looking renovation and some new stores and things seemed to be looking up. Still, though, there are many great stores missing from West Oaks that you can find at Memorial City that isn't that much further. I think West Oaks is still in a transition though and trying to find its niche in the shopping arena. One of the highlights of the mall is the Alamo Drafthouse - I believe this breathed some much needed life into the mall. It is a great cinema and certainly a great use of a theatre that would otherwise be abandoned. I'll keep my fingers crossed that West Oaks will regain its former glory after the upgrades are all complete. It can't hurt to have a quality shopping center on the West Side.

This Mall is DEAD. When I first got here, there's not many people. I don't know what happened, but financially, it's gone downhill.

It was great. But things come and go, use this mall as an example. Don't recognize the stores, haven't gone here in a long while.

Indeed, Teaholic has some wonderful Vietnamese drinks and a lot of delicious Boba, such as the Strawberry Black Tea which is one of the best of its kind anywhere. And the Strawberry Aloe reminds me of the Aloe Refresher from Fruitealicious in Dallas. Amazing. Bambu, next door, is the very best location of the Viet dessert and drink chain, making some of the best smoothies you'll ever have - especially the Honeydew, the Taro Coconut, the Mocha, and the Berry. But there's a lot more than just Viet stuff here, with amazing Korean Chicken (Lim's) as well as soups and stews and rice stone pot bowls aplenty. Zero Degrees (Cali chain) has a wonderful and popular location here, with their Strawberry Mojito and Strawberry Lime drinks off the charts, and their Cucumber Lime, Viet Coffee, Strawberry Horchata, and more, also stellar. Not a fan of Chili and Mango stuff, but their Mangonada is famous and popular too. And they do split cups (so does Teaholic). Long Coffee, Kravin, a location of the chain Mango Mango, and other spots in this plaza, are also well worth a visit. Parking and access can be really difficult, but then the same can be said about my gf. And now she's (sigh) gone.

Contrary to the name claim, there is nothing Hong Kong about this mall. It should have been named Saigon City Mall which would have been more appropriate. Aside from the huge anchor Asian grocery store in the middle, the mall is flanked by an assortment of Vietnamese-oriented beauty/cosmetics, nail, phone, apparel, gifts, pho and Asian-centric mom-n-pop stores with a sleepy food court on one end. There are quite a few signs pointing to Massage upstairs. The other prominent anchor tenant is Shabu Zone. Generally, around 50% of the stores were closed. Parking lot is Lone Star state size. Nothing else exciting to write about. Certainly, a coulda, shoulda, woulda experience. Sure you'll like this mall if you want to experience Vietnamese culture.

I also stock up on chopsticks and bowls. I took home some frozen dumplings for my daughter. The Boba shops are also delicious on a hot summer day. It's just a neat experience every time I go and I'm able to get Asian products at a decent price.
