Contrary to the name claim, there is nothing Hong Kong about this mall. It should have been named Saigon City Mall which would have been more appropriate. Aside from the huge anchor Asian grocery store in the middle, the mall is flanked by an assortment of Vietnamese-oriented beauty/cosmetics, nail, phone, apparel, gifts, pho and Asian-centric mom-n-pop stores with a sleepy food court on one end. There are quite a few signs pointing to Massage upstairs. The other prominent anchor tenant is Shabu Zone. Generally, around 50% of the stores were closed. Parking lot is Lone Star state size. Nothing else exciting to write about. Certainly, a coulda, shoulda, woulda experience. Sure you'll like this mall if you want to experience Vietnamese culture.

Well now with kids and a family I only get that opportunity once in awhile. So when I saw that there was a new food court opening back up where sharpstown mall/plaza americas with a playground for the kids it gave me an excuse to check it out. I must say it's been years since I stepped inside this mall. This renovation has hopes of bringing people back in. They have a small playground for kids and good selection of new restaurants in this food hall. For their grand opening they have music and entertainment as well. I'll be back just sample more of food. Also there is a new pickleball facility on site as well.

The 99 Ranch has completely redesigned itself to be one of the most modern and pleasing Asian shopping experiences in the Greater Houston area so there's that... And then the further good news is that there are now a whole host of great businesses in here that you would definitely want to check out given the chance. Let me give you some examples. So there is a fantastic 85 Degree Bakery here and of course their products are remarkable and wonderful, and then you also have a poke place which has really great fish products and drinks and whatnot which is called Papa Yu. And then there is a good Viet Boba shop called Golden Oolong which can be hit or miss but is very popular with kids, as well as Pho I-10 which is authentic Viet food. All in all it's a wonderful Plaza and a total go-to destination when you're up here. In fact it's probably my favorite Plaza in this area of Houston.

Gulfgate is a very fancy, shiny, clean and new-looking shopping plaza which used to be a little older and more run down. It's in a low-income area (compared to the more well known Malls of Houston), and has a low-income crowd, so they have some great deals at some of the stores. They also have a fancy new HEB and a Teahouse for Boba which is pretty cool, and plenty of good stores like Marshalls and what not. It's definitely a much better Plaza than most of what you find around this area. It's a little hard to get to because of all the road works on 45 but it's still well worth a visit.

Meyerland has become a regular destination for us even though it's a little bit low rent and a little bit rough around here, however this new plaza looks shiny and new and posh. It's an adaptation of the old plaza, but a very good one. There are some great new stores, and it's been remodeled, and there's a lot of good reasons to come here, such as the Ross and especially the JoAnn which Barbi loves. Not owned by Russ Meyer or Quag Meyer.

I think my mission is nearly complete…read more This is a super cute mall which is a little bit unheralded, because it's across from Katy Mills and most people just go there, and I don't think most people come over here at all, of course we do though. It's clean and nice and has a cool Russian grocery store, and some little places that we like to check out now and then. I definitely give it a four star rating, even though the road next to it is really annoying for getting in and out.
