We were scheduled from 4:30-6:30pm but ended up staying until just after dusk because it was that good. The back picnic tables made the perfect setup for deep conversations, games, and even s'mores by the grill. A few of us took a walk down to the water and got in plenty of steps--it was totally worth it for the views! I'd love to come back and check out The Salt Shack next time. On a quick walkthrough, I noticed how beautifully it was decorated, and the staff I met were so friendly. Even from the picnic area, we could hear and enjoy the live music, which was such a fun bonus. I was also surprised to see their full volleyball tournament setup--it turns out a friend of mine was even competing that same day! Cedar Beach really has something for everyone, and I can't wait to return.

There is a long path that leads through the Salt Shack (always wanted to eat there but it was way too early to pop in for a meal) and out into the beach. The beach was quiet but the lifeguards were out. We let Bubs run around in the sand before leaving. I did see a bit of garbage on the beach...people please clean up after yourselves. But yes, we love the beaches on LI and we have our favs. This is one of them, but if you're not a resident of the town you will pay a ton to park and for a pass. I think they stop charging after a certain time. But if you want to go for a beach day, it's worth it if you pack the car and go!

The beach is really nice for the outer drive on section. There isn't miles of beach so if you want…read moreto drive on then I'd recommend getting an early start. Not that you won't find a spot around 11-12pm, but it might not be as easy. The airing down section is not very big and can get a bit chaotic, especially later in the day (4-5pm). There is no air at this beach so you need to make sure you have a pump with you. The sand is very thick and soft, especially when you first go down the hill. Don't even think about coming on unless you have 4-wheel drive. AWD gets stuck all the time. And for the love of God, stop putting the pedal to the metal if you get stuck. You are only digging your tires in. Also, if you want to avoid the traffic from leaving the beach either leave no later than 3:30 or stay past 7. Watch out for fishing lines too! :)

There are plenty of lounge chairs and regular chairs to watch the kiddos splash and play - or you can join in the fun as well! An hour or so of playing here and my toddler is wiped out. Be mindful of your own children here - obviously surfaces can get slippery with the water so running is not a great idea. The lifeguards are teenagers usually looking at their phones or chatting with one another. Hours for the splash park at 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and last day of the season is Sept. 2nd. There are also fun lawn games when you first enter like giant connect four and corn hole. If the sand and beach is more your thing, Venetian has you covered. There is a small section roped off in the water designated for swimming. The food section is fast-food esque - think burgers, dogs, that sort of thing. Last time we got a soft pretzel which, at $6.50 was a bit outrageous. And it was underwhelming. We sat at one of the picnic tables - no food allowed in the splash park area. They do have concerts here at night which is fun, and a great (free) family summertime activity. In the off-season, the playground here is awesome. Great for the 3-8/9 year old range. It is also completely closed in via gate, which always makes me feel more comfortable.

Five stars -- Argyle Lake Park in Babylon Village is a little piece of peace, right in the middle…read moreof town. We came for a walk and stayed for the whole afternoon. The lake is the star: wide, calm, and sparkling under a perfect blue sky, with autumn trees turning red, gold, and green all around the shore. Ducks drift by, Canada geese paddle and preen at the edge of the water, and every few steps the view changes and gets prettier. At the water's edge the lake runs so clear you can see straight down to the stones and the sun winking back at you. The path around the lake is flat, wide, and easy -- soft gravel, no hills, no stress -- with benches placed everywhere for sitting, breathing, and just watching the light dance on the water. This is a park built for slowing down. Couples stroll, bikes roll gently past, and nobody is in a hurry. My wife and I sat at the shore with our feet up, doing absolutely nothing, and it was the best part of the day. There is history here too. Near the path stands a stone plaque marking the site of the old Argyle Hotel -- the birthplace of the Cuban Giants, the first professional Black baseball team, in 1885. The park itself was given to the Village of Babylon in 1924 by J. Stanley Foster for passive recreation, and more than a hundred years later, it is still doing exactly that job, beautifully. And the location could not be better: step off the trail and you are on Main Street, minutes from coffee, food, and the village shops -- the perfect ending to a perfect walk. Argyle Lake Park is clean, calm, romantic, and quietly joyful. No noise, no rush, no entrance fee -- just water, sky, color, and room to breathe. If you are anywhere near Babylon, take the loop, sit by the lake, and let the day soften. Bring someone you love, walk slowly, and let this lake do what it has always done best. Highly, highly recommended!!!

Family friendly, with a park for children, benches to…read moresit on, and watch the swans, and ducks, and the big circle around the lake makes for a nice walk! It's a well known photo spot for special occasions, as there are always brides, maternity shoots, sweet 16/ quinceañeras and engagement photos being taken here. They also have a 911 memorial, which is a lovely tribute. It makes for a nice outing with the family!
