There are a lot of recreational areas, including a nice kid playground. Keep in mind that this is the bay, not 'the beach.' You can swim in the water and lay on the sand, but it's rocky (this is the north shore, after all). Some ocean-going purists may not like it, but it's fine by me! I also love that this is so close to the main drag in Oyster Bay. It's super convenient to pick up some food or drinks if you didn't pack your own.

In addition, it's not a very long or wide path so it may not be the best for social distancing. The bathrooms were closed as well, which is also probably due to covid, but plan accordingly just in case. We only saw trash cans in the parking lot. The parking lot was pretty big so I'm guessing there's more to this little path than just the path. We had actually been hoping to visit Caumsett but they were rigid on the no dogs rule. Next time! The area is quite picturesque so even if you're coming from afar, you'll enjoy this little slice of land and the drive to get there.

Not sure if they even allow dogs, but I bring mine and others do too. It's rocky you know, north shore. They have a bunch of canoes not sure if you're able to rent them or if they belong to people but it would be interesting to know if you can bring your own kayak and go out for a few hours. It takes some time to get here because of its secluded location but one thing I've noticed at least three times there have been police officers posted up right outside the exit and that make me feel safe. If you want to catch a nice sunset definitely come here, it's relaxing. Other people were posted up in their beach chairs solo with a book.

Asharoaken is smaller, but definitely a great choice if you're looking for a relaxing, scenic day at the beach. Bring water shoes for low tide, a camera for beautiful sunsets, and enjoy!!!

We were scheduled from 4:30-6:30pm but ended up staying until just after dusk because it was that good. The back picnic tables made the perfect setup for deep conversations, games, and even s'mores by the grill. A few of us took a walk down to the water and got in plenty of steps--it was totally worth it for the views! I'd love to come back and check out The Salt Shack next time. On a quick walkthrough, I noticed how beautifully it was decorated, and the staff I met were so friendly. Even from the picnic area, we could hear and enjoy the live music, which was such a fun bonus. I was also surprised to see their full volleyball tournament setup--it turns out a friend of mine was even competing that same day! Cedar Beach really has something for everyone, and I can't wait to return.

There is a long path that leads through the Salt Shack (always wanted to eat there but it was way too early to pop in for a meal) and out into the beach. The beach was quiet but the lifeguards were out. We let Bubs run around in the sand before leaving. I did see a bit of garbage on the beach...people please clean up after yourselves. But yes, we love the beaches on LI and we have our favs. This is one of them, but if you're not a resident of the town you will pay a ton to park and for a pass. I think they stop charging after a certain time. But if you want to go for a beach day, it's worth it if you pack the car and go!

There are plenty of lounge chairs and regular chairs to watch the kiddos splash and play - or you can join in the fun as well! An hour or so of playing here and my toddler is wiped out. Be mindful of your own children here - obviously surfaces can get slippery with the water so running is not a great idea. The lifeguards are teenagers usually looking at their phones or chatting with one another. Hours for the splash park at 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and last day of the season is Sept. 2nd. There are also fun lawn games when you first enter like giant connect four and corn hole. If the sand and beach is more your thing, Venetian has you covered. There is a small section roped off in the water designated for swimming. The food section is fast-food esque - think burgers, dogs, that sort of thing. Last time we got a soft pretzel which, at $6.50 was a bit outrageous. And it was underwhelming. We sat at one of the picnic tables - no food allowed in the splash park area. They do have concerts here at night which is fun, and a great (free) family summertime activity. In the off-season, the playground here is awesome. Great for the 3-8/9 year old range. It is also completely closed in via gate, which always makes me feel more comfortable.

They have bathroom facilities and an outdoor shower head to wash off the salt water and sand. The beach is mostly made up of rocks and pebbles. They are also visible in the water. Lots of rocks and sea shells, so it's recommended you wear water shoes for entering the water or even walking in the beach itself. There is lots of seaweed in the water. You will also find the occasional baby crabs and oysters. Other than that you can swim in the water. There is a life guard on duty at certain times. Most of the time you will be swimming without one but they has the water sectioned off with rope.

You get the bay or the sound from the north shore and that's always nice since there are no waves to knock you over. We accidentally stumbled upon this beach while driving around. It's next door to Ransom Beach so if either is packed, just know there is another right there. Decent size parking lot, a clubhouse with restrooms and a snack bar (only open during the summer). There are also a handful of food places right across the street. The other perk is this is a Town of Oyster Bay beach so if you're a TOB resident, you get in for a fraction of the cost (during peak season, of course, the rest of the time it's free). I can't wait to try out this place during the summer and see if it gets crowded. If not, this might be my new beach home for a couple of months.
