Sometimes the term Village Park also locally refers to West Harbor Beach which has a memorial park and is 1mi southwestwest of this one and on W Harbor Dr not Bayville Ave. My primary memory of this beach upon last visit 8y ago for wedding photos is its stillness. At the time, its famously large parking lot was 1/8th under construction, but even then the large lot was expansive with only 8 of its 300+ spots occupied on a weekday afternoon. The beach has LI Sound on the north and Oyster Bay on the south along a strip of land only a few dozen feet wide, a precious connection with the idyllicly insular, posh, largely gated isolated estates beyond with the island's own police force conspicuously posted at the only chokepoint entry. It's mostly low slung sand dunes, all environmentally sensitive so tread with care, with the usual tender grasses poking through and some barer patches of grass and dried flattened brush. A few hiking trails a few minutes long are on the far western and eastern peripheries. There's a large football field right of entrance used by Falcon Pride for local school sports programs. Two basketball courts are left of entrance. An annual summer festival uses this parking lot which is the largest public such in the area. All maintenance and conditions are prime and peak. The photography day's other stops were nearby Central Island Beach across Oyster Bay and Planting Fields Arboretum also in Oyster Bay. All are highly recommended for which I posted reviews.

There are a lot of recreational areas, including a nice kid playground. Keep in mind that this is the bay, not 'the beach.' You can swim in the water and lay on the sand, but it's rocky (this is the north shore, after all). Some ocean-going purists may not like it, but it's fine by me! I also love that this is so close to the main drag in Oyster Bay. It's super convenient to pick up some food or drinks if you didn't pack your own.

It's quite a small area of land compared to the parks/preserves in the area, but while you are within the bounds of this garden, it feels quite peaceful/zen. It is designed to mimic that of Japanese Garden. The details of the wooden cross bridge, abundant bamboo trees, stone lanterns/water basins, the pond and the Japanese tea house located in the middle all make you almost forget that you are in NY and feel like you are transported to Japan for a moment. It's a really nice escape while taking in the sights & having a casual stroll. Although I do suggest a visit once, I don't think it's worth the trek coming all the way here just for this (just because it only takes 30min max). It's a great detour while having other things on the agenda to do around the area.

How have I never been to this preserve?! What a freaking cool place…read more Pro tip: the abandoned buildings are stupid easy to find, don't be like me and wander for a good hour/hour and a half wondering where they are. As you may be aware of, the preserve is home to the Holocaust museum for the county (which I plan on visiting sometime soon). If you find parking on the left side of the building (the side with the butterfly garden) you will find the abandoned building on the right side of the museum, as if you venture down to the water. There's a few buildings to see and the history behind them is pretty cool. Next time I will have to bring my Canon to take some nicer shots. Wear good gripping shoes as it can be muddy and you'll slip and side a bit. There are signs for no dogs but plenty of people brought their Fido's and Fifi's.

We really enjoyed it. We started by the mansion. It's suppose to be a museum but it' is closed due to COVID. There is a garden which is very beautiful and the placards around the garden tells you about why the garden is there. It is dedicated to the children of Holocaust. There is lots of woods with many different paths to walk. They set it up nicely with small bridges over a stream with rocks. The path we took led us to the ocean. There is a beach in one side and the LI sound on the other. We walked for almost an hour and it was very enjoyable. We didn't get to see the abandoned buildings with graffiti on them because of the timing . However we will be coming back possibly earlier to be able to see more. Definitely worth the trip. There is free parking.

A Great beach park, walking promenade and playground on the North Shore of Long Island. The…read morefacilities are well maintained and there is plenty to do. This beach park is big, the website boasts over 60 acres of land. Since this is a beach slap on the sunscreen and soak up those rays, vitamin deficient folks will have no problem producing more vitamin D as the sun is scorching! There are open and covered picnic areas for you to barbecue. I think these areas require a permit and a fee and are only available to residents of the town. The beach has at least 2 life guards at every marked swimming area and these guys and gals do their job, so people please swim within the flags! Food options are limited and the concession stand is only opened on the weekends, the prices are fairly reasonable. The beach park is pet friendly and they provide baggies at certain stations so you can clean up after your pooch. There is a fee for parking $15 for residents and $20 if you're not a resident. A great place to spend a weekday or weekend to get away from the heat or just hang.

Once a large estate owned by a gilded age family and Sold to New York State during the developments of Robert Mosses. Do be prepared to walk, but you will love what you see on your two mile plus journey of deer and wild life viewing, thats right I saw deer as well as many bird species who's calls, chirps, and knocks could be heard through out the park.
